Bay vs Fox? No

For some reason a Wall Street Article from two weeks ago is gaining traction on various gossip sites about a supposed feud between Megan Fox and Michael Bay.

All that occured is Megan Fox told Entertainment Weekly:
I mean, I can't s--- on this movie because it did give me a career and open all these doors for me. But I don't want to blow smoke up people's a--. People are well aware that this is not a movie about acting."
Here is Bay's response (and my comments at the time):
It’s interesting that you want to focus on acting. Megan Fox, one of the leads in “Transformers” has criticized your films for being special-effects-driven and not offering so many acting opportunities. Do you agree?
Well, that’s Megan Fox for you. She says some very ridiculous things because she’s 23 years old and she still has a lot of growing to do. You roll your eyes when you see statements like that and think, “Okay Megan, you can do whatever you want. I got it.” But I 100% disagree with her. Nick Cage wasn’t a big actor when I cast him, nor was Ben Affleck before I put him in “Armageddon.” Shia LaBeouf wasn’t a big movie star before he did “Transformers”—and then he exploded. Not to mention Will Smith and Martin Lawrence, from “Bad Boys.” Nobody in the world knew about Megan Fox until I found her and put her in “Transformers.” I like to think that I’ve had some luck in building actors’ careers with my films.
(Bay didn't actually counter Fox's comments. He has an eye for talent and definitly builds careers but his movies are not studies in acting. - TFLive)
That is the extent of the feud. What do you expect Bay to say "Yeah she is right, my films require no acting skill whatsoever." Closer to the truth but part of his job is to sell himself and his films and that wouldn't help.

  1. While it's true that Michael Bay's films generally require little gift in acting, I think that Megan Fox was trying to blame her lack of acting abilities on Bay. I think what she really want to say was, "It's not my fault, I'm a talented actress--the movie just didn't entail any great acting."

I was an extra in TF2 and even an assistant director told me that she couldn't portray emotions very well.

I believe that actions speak louder than words. If Fox wants to prove that she's an actress of excellent caliber, she shouldn't trot on others and burn bridges. She should land some profound roles and show us.

  6. All this babbling "Michael Bay movies don't require acting skills" it's an absolute lie. Too many high rated movies, like The Dark Knight, are claimed to feature top-notch acting but that is not true. TDK has way worse acting than Batman Begins, and absolutely worse than any Michael Bay movies.
So, The Rock didn't need very good acting skills, right? And so Sean Connery was unable to act as well because he was directed by Michael Bay, uh?

  7. @Joseph Cagle

Yeah, but Will Smith was typecast as a comedian and as a tv show actor. Bay made Hollywood see he could do much more and do it well.

  8. They're both right, and there should be no arguments. Bay's movies are no brainers and has little to do with acting and story. It's just all about boom, bam, and po. However, by working in a Bay film, you gain exposure that can lead to more things. Bay is like Human Resource. HR can get you in the door, but they shouldn't get credit for your career. Megan is saying that HR helped her get in the door, but Bay sounds like he's the one that build people's careers.

That's probably why she said "because it did give me a career and open all these doors for me".

From this and her other statements, it's damn clear she'd very thankful the Transformers role.

  10. She's made way more disrespectful comments than that particular quote. She's taken every opportunity she can to make negative comments about Bay and the movie. She's the only person in the movie with no talent and she knows it. That's why she makes these "statements." She needs to stop generalizing.

Not as an action star which is what Bay did for Smith, Cage and Affleck. They were known but not as action stars and Bay made them in that genre. You can win an Oscar and no one still knows who you are overall until you make bank which is all these hollywood types care about. They made bank with Bay so he made them, eat it Hollywood. You can win 10 oscars but if you're movies don't make money they dont give an F.

  13. Beverly Bohan got it right on the money. It seems to me that Megan is insecure about her acting and tried to act like Michael Bay wasn't looking for a "real actress" anyway, basically.

  14. Michael's problem is that sometimes he becomes too arrogant. Megan's problem is she's not assertive enough. Nuff' said.

  15. Hahaha. Transformers wasn't even half the movie we expected it to be. The first one was good. Megan Fox is right. Michael Bay needs to grow up. He sucks at life

  16. hahaha Transformers 2 was shit I have to agree. It was such a waste that people should be lucky it was released. My point of view is that Michael Bay sucks at making a movie any day. He has it all wrong. He needs to grow up.

  18. As far as acting goes , please dont mention any Michael Bay movies in the same breath

As far that idiot who says Sean Connery or Nic Cage needed to act in that ridiculous "rock" , he probably think Vin Diesel is the greatest actor known to man ..so shut your mouth

Megan Fox on the other hand is wrong because she;s perfect for a Michael Bay movie , no acting or speaking skills required

I'm pretty sure Ben Affleck and Ewan mcgregors action movie career's started and ended with Bay movies so all that discovering them nonsense is just Bays ego

Just one word to what you've said. No.

They're high rated for a reason.

  20. Wow D, if you believe that Bay's movies has high rated actings, what wuold you think about coppola or scorsese movies? Damn, Bay's movies are interesting just for their effects and entertainment, not for their actings, that are pretty shitty by the way (and that's not actors fault), directors can guide actors to a better acting.
