Bay's Future Plans

MichaelBay.com has updated with a post that maps possible projects for Michael Bay including Transformers 3. Of significance is apparently he is open to discussing a 2011 release and Ehren Kruger is apparently being tapped to potentially write the third movie (not so good news for those that didn't like the humor or the Twins in TF2). Keep in mind that there are a lot of variables in play so none of the below or any of the below could happen in the next year or two.
Nelson here...

I spoke to Michael today and he had a little update on his future projects:

* He will be meeting later this week with Steven Spielberg, and Ehren Kruger to discuss ideas for Transformers 3. By the end of the week he should have an idea if Transformers 3 will hit your local cineplex in the summer of 2011 or 2012.
* In the meantime "Pain & Gain" is looking very possible as is...
* ...Bad Boys 3. Either film coming to a theater near you before or after Transformers 3.

  1. It would be okay, if he takes a break...

  2. Yeah... Don't want to rush him and have a not so good movie come out. He will have many more great movies, just be patient :)

  3. I want it in 2012 so they dont mess it up. The discussion is about the scale of the film. If it is just having the previously seen Decepticons and The Fallens army it will be released in 2011. If they want to introduce new charecters or Fan Favourites such as Unicron, The Dinobots, Shockwave, Tidalwave and Blitzwing they will leave it till 2012 so they can finalise designs on the robots.

  4. I think the one big thing we're forgetting here is that if anything, TF2 only suffered because of lack of good writing. The writer's strike was most likely a cause for concern. Had that strike not occured, I'm pretty sure (without the candy-coated excuses) TF2 would have less distracting and unnecessary elements. I hope MB keeps those things in mind.

That said, I don't think that'll be an issue for TF3, so I'm hoping or optimistic that it'll be a great film.

Mind you I *LOVED* TF2, I just think that the strike really did not help matters in this case.

  5. @LionBoogy: if they used the novel version of Transformers2 written by Alan Dean Foster for the movie there would have been nothing to complain about. Actually it's highly likely that most of the missing scenes in the theatrical cut were filmed but couldn't be finalized to meet the deadline due to all the production issues.

  6. The books are well writen. I have read both The Veiled Threat and the ROTF novels. If they kept the subplot of Simmons experimenting with Frenzies decapitated head. Instead we seen the head on display in a bell jar.

I don't think the writing was the problem, just the rush changes.

  7. I see, yeah, I haven't read the novels myself, so I can totally understand about production deadlines. I dunno though, I still think there was a disconnect somewhere. Had that strike not occurred maybe there would be more emphasis on Sideswipe, Arcee, Ironhide, etc. you know? I'm just saying. :)

Sorry if I haven't read the novels, I'm just pondering the possibilities for TF3. :)

  8. I hope you know that movie novels differ from screenplays because the novel writer gets to diverge from and fill in gaps if he wants to. That's why they always seem better written.

  9. I agree with HammerZ and Lionboogy, but I still love TF2 (along with TF).This is not a complain but maybe it was Ehren Kruger who made up some of the ridiculous humor and Twins "racists" and NOT Michael Bay? Or did both suggested the ideas? I'm not trying to jump to conclusions but the above post kinda makes me think that way.

    All the best for TF3!!!!XD

  10. I also LOVE both movies! I liked the Twins, but it would have been better if they got less screentime and more screentime for Sideswipe. Doesn't matter who made up the humor of the Twins, Bay still has to approve it.

For TF3 I'm hoping for more Soundwave and ofcourse Ravage, more Sideswipe, a straight up standing Devastator vs Superion, Wheeljack, Shockwave, Skywarp, Ramjet, Grimlock. And for Bumblebee to speak, don't get me wrong, I liked the fun communications via his radio, but it was so AWESOME when he spoke at the end of TF.

  11. I'd rather TF3 hit in 2012 than 2011. I want some time so it can be polished and kick more ass than TF2.

And I want Bumblebee to speak. If he has a few lines in TF3, I will be one happy fangirl.
