TF3 Chicago: Soundwave Spotted, More Images and Video

Transformers 3 production continues somewhere in Chicago but until more information comes in, here is more images and a video from last weekend's filming in the city. As the image to the left shows, Soundwave joins the Chicago battle, bringing the first confirmation that this Decepticon returns. The stick head is used as actor eye line and camera reference point so it seems he will also interact at some level with the human characters.

That image, and the below animated gifs and more are thanks to Pixel Rally. The gifs show off an explosion moment from in front of Hotel 71 while the other three show Bay giving instructions to Shia LaBeouf and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley who then do two practice runs of tumbling away from an overturned SUV. The full set of pictures can be found at flickr. Thanks to Kel for pointing out the Soundwaves images in the set. The set also includes two videos from filming over the last two weeks. One from is pyrotechnics going off in front of the Michigan Avenue Bridge and the other from the skydiving stunt from two weeks ago.

If interested in reading more, OK Magazine has posted a gallery of images of Josh Duhamel at work while Shia watched. Thanks to John for the link. Also the below video comes from Film Junk and shows yet another angle from the Hotel 71 intersection shoot. Sadly I have no idea what areas Transformers 3 production will be working this weekend but assume in the same general Michigan Avenue area.

  6. it's the very first picture where the paragraph starts to the left...if you look closely you can see the bar that's supposedly holding it up but something just doesn't look right to me about it

  7. Just got an email from my condo association that they are going to be filming on Wacker Drive again between, State and Wabash this time. July 24th and 25th.

I also have found that they are using the vacant lot behind the Tides Apartments (360 E South Water St) as their base camp.

    Your link doesn't work.

The pic above is definitly fake, there is no stick holding the head, nor a man holding the stick!

Why bother posting these fake pics???

  11. @martinus prime - copy and paste the address in your browser.

and if you blow up the pic on here to full size youll see that the soundwave head is on the ground leaning against a tripod behind it because its not attached to the stick yet.

  13. Well, even if there was a guy holding soundwaves head it could still be "fake" as bay has said they just use random faces for each of those to put of fans..

  14. Bay spreads rumors but he wouldnt go and make a prob just to get fans wound up and it was all just a joke

Sorry guys, but at first I copied it and searched with google and nothing cam out of the link, but when I pasted it in the browser it worked.

And yes, there walks a man with the head on a white stick. And I can see now in the pic above that the head leans to the tripod, it's very misleading.

@anon above, it's the head from the Soundwave toy.
Maybe cause Soundwave has come to earth and he needs another altmode, most likely the Suburban, he also gets another head, that is also smaller, cause his head in ROTF was quite large, so they now use the head of the toy, makes sense, and they don't need to make a new design.

  17. you don't think he meant soundwave when he said shockwave was the main villain? You know how he tends to mix up names...

  18. Looks like Barricade to me.

Then again he might just be saying that and introducing a resurection of "The Fallen" we have no idea of any of the fact. Even if this was Shockwave`s face for filming, Bay has replaced the face`s with others in the past. He used Ironhide`s to mark Bumblebee`s place during ROTF filming.

Well, then you got to wonder why they need markers with so detailed pictures of the robots in the first place. Seems like they could just use any object. Is it just a way to increase the hype?
