Transformers 3 DC Parking Lot Gallery
Thanks to Allison, here are images of the Washington, DC parking lot that is essentially base camp for Transformers 3 production complete with make-up, costume trailers and so forth. It is located near the Old Convention Center Parking Lot on 9th Street, between New York Street and H Street. The crew, once again showing their friendliness to fans, allowed picture to be taken as long as didn't touch anything and treated the property with respect. Sadly the Wreckers remained in their trailers so no pics of them. I believe the pictures were taken before the Bumblebee car accident which is why get a look at all of them including a peak of 'Bee next to the Ferrari. Still Optimus Prime, Ratchet, Ironhide, the Decepticon Suburbans and more are on site.

Wait... There's a new truck next to the twins... Does not fit with the Suburbans, this one is different.
ReplyDeleteMight not be a transformer. This is also used for other vehicles and film crews.
ReplyDeleteThat's not a truck, it's a minivan. It appears to be a 2006-ish Nissan Quest. I can tell by the rear lights, sliding door opening, and circular door handles (I hate that I know these things). Most likely a crew vehicle like the red SUV on the far left.
ReplyDeletemouth watering.. literally..
ReplyDeleteI wonder if they start filming at 6:30pm tomorrow or that's when the cars are suppose to be moving around?
ReplyDeleteI am not going to run around DC just for some pictures, so I guess whats the best place to wait at the mall for some pictures? I don't plan to stay over night, just take a few pics and then hop on the metro because it will take me an hour or so to get back home.
Anyone want to map out where the actual travel paths for the cars will be?
Also is Bay's plane stationed at IAD or BWI right now?
interesting to see the Datsun's are back.....
ReplyDeleteAnyone noticed that, despite Bay repeatedly denying the Twins involvement, that Mudflap is no longer a Chevvy Trax... he is now the Chevvy Spark/Beat.
ReplyDeleteI wonder why this is ?!?!?!
He did say "basicly gone". I take it as most of the dumb humor being done. Maybe Mudflap is renamed Skreech. He wanted the green one in ROTF.
ReplyDeleteDatsuns are mystery for me. But has anybody seen pohtos from Milwaukee filming. There one image showed how Sam was fixing Datsun car. I have no idea that are those Datsuns Autobots or human vehciles. But mostly I think that they are normal vehciles. Maybe Sam's or Dylan's car.
ReplyDeleteFiretruck is back
ReplyDeleteI'm afraid not. The fire truck parked there is not the same Autobot fire truck that is seen in Chicago.
ReplyDeleteThe fuel truck however, is in DC and not in this lot. So perhaps there are two lots?
ReplyDelete@ Simbatron:
ReplyDeleteThat's because in ROTF, the cars for Skids and Mudflap were still concept cars then.
Unfortunately the Trax didn't make it to production, only the Spark/Beat did, so Skids and Mudflap both will get another upgrade in TF3. I like their new color scheme though, the stripes are in nice metallic and they have an awesome bodykit.
The Hummer HX's are awesome. The most right "Dread" suv is missing the Chevy logo on the trunklid.
Btw, does anybody see the blue Mercedes? I don't.
Mercedes is not the only one that is missing. Wreckers are missing too. Well, no matter. Jolt was later added to movie, so that's why he didn't appear in Shanghai battle, but Ratchet neither appeared. So I think that the only palce where all Autobots appear is Chicago. Fire truck was seen only in Chicago. Optimus, Bumblebee, Sideswipe and Ferrari-bot were only Autobots seen in LA.
ReplyDeleteBig NASA news with T3 told webmaster hopefully he'll have it up sometime soon.
ReplyDeleteFar as the Dreads so far we seen three being filmed in the videos at one time. With those four on the lot. The forth one is;
ReplyDeleteA. a backup for the other ones.
B. a stunt rig for some big jump or something.
C. a mockup for a crash scene, maybe Prime rams him and blows him up.
There is still that report about the rubber frame. I base C on that idea.
ironhide YAY!!! XD always happy to see him!
ReplyDeleteA rubber frame could also be intended for a sequence where repeated launchings of the vehicle off the ground were needed to simulate a Decepticon transforming in the air after an explosion and doing acrobatics on the fly. Robot parts would be CG'd in and the launching mechanism would be CG'd out.
ReplyDeleteIt would make sense since you'd have to capture the same sequence over and over from different angles just for that one action shot. Add that up to a LOT of scenes requiring the same kinds of shots. It's cheaper and you wouldn't waste money on lots of actual slimmed-down vehicles. Plus, you'd save parking lot space. haha :)
New pics of the cast!

Side note on Jolt.....
ReplyDeleteMany say it's weird that he suddenly appeared in the middle of ROTF, but I do believe Ratchet wasn't in Shanghai either. They could have been together somewhere.
I have to say this is turning into one weird movie... the 2nd one was very easy to follow with the pics & videos you guys posted! Rumors flying around crashing cars everywhere! I think its chaos!!!
ReplyDeleteCare to share the NASA info with me, Sideswipe? ;) I really dont have the patience to wait to hear it from elsewhere. *explodes*. My lust for TF3 news shall never be quenched haha.
ReplyDeletevery well, i did email the webmaster so i'm sure he'll be posting it at some point... filming this Saturday is taking place at JSC (johnson space center) in building 30 which is where teh FCR is (flight control room) they're looking for extras who work at JSC who are over the age of 25 to portray people with "period costumes" and a "late 60s style haircut" which means bull cut, square glasses, and gene kranz and his vest. okay so that last part about gene was definitely my input but yes looks like we're getting a late 60's moon race scene! "alright folks, we're going to the moon!" Also the filming will be in the APOLLO FCR. which has been kept as is for historic reasons. So i'm not gonna lie guys this much NASA involvement with T3 has got me near the point of a you know what. But hey that's just me :-D
ReplyDeleteFREAKING AWESOME, SIDESWIPE! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks very much, Sideswipe! While I enjoyed ROTF, I could also understand why people didn't. And why they felt there was a serious lack of a stable plot. But I must confess, it looks like M.Bay and co are pulling out all the stops when it comes to the plot for this movie, let alone the action scenes! I can't wait! :D
ReplyDeleteno problem guys just trying to help out!
ReplyDeleteOh wow, all these pictures had me squealing like a little girl!
ReplyDeleteironhide is a savage truck i want one
