Transformers: Prime, Peter Cullen Get Emmy Nods

This is a repost. Do to blogspot.com failure, Google had to restore from a backup that was 30 hours old eliminating the original and related comments

Transformers: Prime's first season has scored 4 Daytime Emmy Award nominations and two wins today from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. The show accounts for six of the eight nominations The Hub received in its first year of broadcasting. I also believe that it is the first Emmy nomination for the legendary Peter Cullen whose long history of voice work should have garnered more than just Emmy mod. Below is the press release from the Hub. Congratulations to Peter Cullen and the cast and crew of Transformers: Prime. Hopefully they will add a few trophies when winners are announced at the live ceremony on June 19th.

Outstanding Performer In An Animated Program - Peter Cullen as Optimus Prime
Outstanding Directing In An Animated Program
Outstanding Achievement in Music Direction And Composition
Outstanding Writing In Animation

  1. The series is really great without a doubt,it really deserves an award. And I agree that Peter Cullen should have garnered more than Emmy nods.

  3. ...there has been lots of really good optimus and megatron voice work over the years...ie beastwars/beast machines etc...

but as I grew up in the G1 era, for me frank welker will always be the man for megatrons voice, and what can I say about peter cullen?...he "is" optimus prime ! lol

So good to see some recognition going to cullen for his amazing work spanning multiple generations.

When I heard peter was coming back to voice optimus in the movies back in '07 I was wondering how he would sound after getting older, and if he still "had it"
...and boy was I happy when I first heard his voice again as optimus...it is every bit as amazing as it was back in the 80's
And both cullen and welker also happen to have wonderful personalities in real life...

Smartest thing Bay ever did, was listen to the fans, ...and get peter cullen back a optimus prime !!

And if you ask me, frank and peter voicing megatron and optimus in transformers prime
is just as sweet !! The new generation will get to hear the pro's at work, just like we did in the 80's G1 ;)

    Gotta love it !

  5. No, the series sucks and it doesn't deserve any awards. Very bad cheap CGI worse than '90s production, childish storyline for very little kids just like the awful Transformers Animated.
This series is a real shame. Beast Wars was way better than this although it's now very old.
