I’m here to set the record straight again . . . my crew and I have been having a great time in Hong Kong despite what you may have read about us being “rocked by a second extortion attempt.” Totally untrue. A few bad dudes have definitely not ruined the experience. We shoot from sun up to sun down, and the local HK crew have become part of our on-set family. We’re in the middle of busy streets, in businesses, and even in people’s homes, and everyone we’ve met has been very accommodating and generous. It’s been a once in a lifetime experience we’d all consider doing again.

Bay Writes About Positive Hong Kong Experience for TF4 Filming
Michael Bay has added a note to his website to "set the record straight" about his experience with shooting Transformers: Age of Extinction in Hong Kong. The note is a response to the bad press China has been getting for two failed extortion attempts.

Ofcourse Bay is doing this, they don't want any tarnish on the relationship with HK/China, that's understandable. They still want the 4th TF movie to do well, if you would talk bad about the filming there, maybe the Chinese people would stay away from the movie, or the government could even go as far as boycot the movie.
ReplyDeleteAnd they want no bad rep for China for future blockbusters to film there. I still think it's wake up call, as well for Hollywood as well for China. Hollywood has become aware not to dance to the Chinese government demands, only to please them, for the extra big bucks the country they brings in. But China has to game up their security, we never hear these kind of extortion things when a film is being made in other countries, for example eastern European countries. You would think that could happen there as well. Or even in the rest of the world.
Good thing it's all still good, I'm looking forward to the 1st teaser!!
There will always be people that do bad things no matter what you do to stop or avoid it. And just 2 attempts is nothing when you consider the size of the population. Worse things have happened.
DeleteI think Bay is seasoned enough to know that these kinds of things do happen, possibly expecting them to happen. If he doesn't know how to deal with them, he wouldn't be where he is now in the film industry.
