First Look at Transformers: Age of Extinction Toys

Not sure where they got them but Chinese forum 78dm.net has provided the first look at three toys from the Transformers: Age of Extinction line. The three images are for the Power Attackers Bumblebee, Hound and Strafe. From the look at the simplistic design, my guess is the Power Attackers are either part of the Fast Action Battlers line or a new toddler subline. End result is the black and white pictures give us a general idea of their movie design but its difficult to get specifics. Still we do learn two new things: 1) Strafe is the new name for the Dinobot Swoop and 2) Strafe is an Autobot so therefore safe to assume that all Dinobots are/become Autobots in the course of the movie (as if there was any real doubt of that). I assume the name change is in part to inability to reclaim the Swoop copyright. (via TFW2005)

  1. Dudemus: well guys, I think hound will look like a lumberjack...I think these are the Go! Versions. They look to be pretty small. These aren't what I'm personally waiting to see. So have at it.

  2. So "Hound" is now "Duke"? Is that the one we are supposed to be disappointed about? I thought it was confirmed?

  4. I can see how hounds face looks and bumblebee didn't look to cool in power attacker toy line but my favorite is strafe he looks cool now I can't wait to see the dinobots robot modes in Age Of Extinction and the action figures.I'm hoping that the optimus prime that Hasbro showed an' t the leader class because he doesn't even look close to him badass version in The Empire magazine.

  5. Apexformer: I'm gonna put my money on these being the new legends class figures. I mean look at the size of the pins in Hound's arm.

  6. Or Duke is a different character altogether. Who knows. Not a fan of any but swoop or Strafe or whoever

  8. they all look goofy and doofy

  9. I thought Bay said he wasn't going to do goofy. Hound looks pretty freaking goofy to me, and not in a good way.I'm not too crazy about Swoop or Bee either. I think once we see Bee and Swoop on screen, they will look awesome. As for Hound, I doubt they'll lose that goofy looking beard.

  10. It's probably not intended to be goofy. Whoever designed the bots (wasn't Bay) was probably trying to express age or dignity or who the hell knows much like they did with Jetfire. With Jetfire they used the beard, his cane and all the bolts falling out to express that he was really old. People who aren't familiar with the bots aren't going to know this stuff.

    1. Leadfoot's beard was made of different parts, he had glasses, but no pipe like Hound has. I was sure all this time the bearded bot in AoE is Hound, but the only dissappointment is that Hound's face doesn't have enough difference from Leadfoot's face.

  11. Why does everyone blame Bay so much? He doesn't write the movie. He doesn't design the transformers. He just directs the movie with what he has to work with. Bay hate is all misguided. If anyone thinks they can do better then they need to either do it or shut the hell up.

  12. Hey we got grizzly adams in the movie, ha ha ha ha ha

  13. how can we be sure they are originals from the film? could they be like Chinese replicas?
to me they don't seem to legit sorry

  14. Bay is directly in charge of every aspect of the films, including the script and robot designs.

    1. ikr and these clowns wanna say he does nothing but direct and its not his fault of story plot holes and shitty robot designs, but we know hes responcible for all of it

    2. Obviously your a fool who knows nothing. A simple dive into a director's job will show you otherwise. If you can write a better script..direct a better movie and make better bots I challenge you to either prove it or stfu

    3. You said: "Obviously your a fool who knows nothing. A simple dive into a director's job will show you otherwise."

Just FYI, here's how it works: Bay and his writers initially get together to discuss possible set-pieces; the writer then takes those set-pieces and turns them into a script; Bay goes over the script and says what changes he wants made; the script is rewritten to Bay's specifications; the FX guys design robots based on the script and Bay's requests; Bay looks over preliminary designs to say what he likes and what he wants changed; the FX guys make the requested changes; Bay goes over animatics, preliminary FX, works on principle photography (of course), directs the voice actor sessions, approves all final FX, is involved in every aspect of post-production. Nothing makes it to the screen without Bay's express approval.

    4. This is 2 months late but Bay does not design any of the bots, Hasbro does. Its obvious, they have to sell toys and i doubt they would leave the future of a potentially million dollar toy franchise in the hand of a director. To think otherwise in a giant paragraph that makes it obvious you like to read your own words, would be to announce to the world youre a moron.

  16. Swoop looks a lot like the transformer on the jacket posted about a week ago, the head shape and the shoulders look hell of a lot similar, the wings are off but it does look kinda similar without the wings

    2. Thats right, grimlock will be huge, the head shape and shoulders made me think about the jacket, then something just snapped in me lol

    1. Why does he have two heads? Are these not dinosaurs but some kind of dragons or something? Grrrr!

  20. That Ironhide44 guy was right, he did say stuff were going be released, plus the trailer being confirmed as well.

  21. He said official trailer. It looks like a teaser may be released but official trailer probably not till Superbowl. Which is pretty common knowledge

Without the wings, Swoop(productionname Paulie) does indeed look exactly like the TF on the crew hoodie! But it doesn't look like a dinosaur.
It does indeed look like a dragon. It is obvious an Autobot, maybe the mysterious @ a while back does have something right. He mentioned a dragonlike Menasor.

But I'm still very cautious, Bay said no goofiness. How is an organic looking beard on a Transformer not goofy looking?? Maybe Hound is the only comedy relief, we can only hope.

    1. I hope we have a fair amount of goofiness. Keep in mind these are the crappy versions. The detailed toys and in the movie it will look better. IF this is even Hound

Well anon, it IS Hound, it says Oshkosh. I'm not worried about the toys, just the goofy looking beard of Hound in the movie.

  23. Be positive. It may not turn out to not be as bad as you think. Even in G1 some had facial "hair"

Yes, but that facial hair in G1 as well in the previous movies has been technical/mechanical, I can live with that. Hound's beard looks organic, that's just wrong. I do not understand where they get that stuff, where do you come up with something stupid like that? How can you design such an awesome new head like Optimus Prime's new head and then design a hoax with beard like Hound's face? I just don't get it.

But I'll stay positive and expecting Hound as the worst (looking) character in the movie.

  24. Bah...well this is going to be one sucky movie for you so you should probably not watch it

Your seeing this beard in a black and white photo of the crappy toy versions that aren't real clear. There is no way in hell that Bay and company are going to let the hair be more realistic. His beard will be mechanical..

Didn't you see the poleface of Hound this summer? It looks like a more organic beard. Everybody hates it, not just me.
It wasn't just the beard, his whole face looked goofy, a human looking face with round eyes and a human nose. That with a full on beard, everybody was calling it Santabot. :P

But like I said, I'll stay positive, we'll have to wait and see. They're still in post-production.

  25. I saw it. However it was a cheap design. If you remember the past movies heads on a pole looked crappy as well. Im not a fan of the design we have seen either. I just know history has shown us it always looks better in the moving.

However his santa design is fitting since it is almost xmas :P
