Transformers 4 Pop Wars Figures With Drift

A new year has started and finally some useful TF4 news. Toy maker Pop Wars today posted a sneak peek at the prototypes for their Transformers: Age of Extinction line of products. Their comment with the picture says "Transformers coming soon! Drift , Prime and BumbleBee most likely from the New movie releasing. #funko #popwars #transformers #bumblebee." This is the 1st near official confirmation that the 2013 Bugatti Grand Sport Vitesse is the alt mode for Drift. Drift isn't an original Generation One character but a now five year or so old character created for the IDW's Transformers comics. Thanks to Feris O. for the link.

  1. Uuuuuuum... I really, really, really hope they don't try to make DRIFT look like a Samurai... It kind of looks like they are almost trying to resemble him to ancient Samurai armor and helmet. Hey, I'm all for the swords and Samurai skills... but in noooo waaaay should a TRANSFORMER from another planet look like a Samurai in "robot mode". I'm soooo ready to get some new info on this d@mn movie!!!!!

    1. It could be that Drift is wearing an ancient Chinese helmet. (Picture link: http://media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/85/95/77/85957791e0b88ab736fda8a1c60070e2.jpg . It's a drawing of the helmet.) So just like when the Autobots landed in the US, maybe Drift landed in China or for some reason has picked up China's influence. And when he chose his current vehicle form, that's what his armor translated to. We'll just have to wait and see. I'm sure regardless, it'll be really cool.

    2. Samurai are from Japan. This looks to be more of a Chinese influence, which goes with the movie's setting.

  2. Drift carries the legendary Great Sword in the comics. Could the sword we've seen be The Great Sword?

  3. And they could always say that samurai armor was really inspired by Transformer armor, perhaps.

    1. Exactly. He could've landed long ago and like Jetfire had, went dormant. Will be cool to see how Michael Bay and the writers did this one. ^_^

    1. Hahaha... Shredder was exactly who I thought of when I first saw this!!! I'll give Bay the benefit of the doubt and wait for trailer before I pass judgment...

  5. So he'll look like Bludgeon? Bludgeon does resemble a Samurai warrior too though I can understand the debate concerning his Pretender Shell. I'm actually focused on his face. It looks clear unlike Bumblebee's face. It's almost smooth sort of how the G1 faces look. Maybe I'm wrong but that's what I'm thinking here.

    1. In the comics drift was once evil, and with a different name. So could he could be the good version of bludgeon. Micheal bay does slap random names on different transformers after all.....

  6. so drift and crosshairs are not just production name after all but the actual movie names i just thought the vette would atleast be a g1 name like blaster or perceptor

Michael Bay Melts Down During CES

It looks like to me that he was probably paid to do a Samsung presentation on some new technology he had no clue about and when the teleprompter that was giving him all the info he needed failed. He couldn't wing it since he really knew nothing about it. This is quite embarrasing to watch really.

Wow! I just embarrassed myself at CES – I was about to speak for Samsung for this awesome Curved 105-inch UHD TV. I rarely lend my name to any products, but this one is just stellar. I got so excited to talk, that I skipped over the Exec VP’s intro line and then the teleprompter got lost. Then the prompter went up and down – then I walked off. I guess live shows aren’t my thing.

But I’m doing a special curved screen experience with Samsung and Transformers 4 footage that will be traveling around the world.

    Michael

  14. I wonder if mike is going to keep true to the comics and have drift being an ex-deception
