Transformers: Age of Extinction Trailer Rating, Running Time

A few weeks ago it was declared that the first theatrical trailer for Transformers: Age of Extinction was "coming soon." The Alberta Film Ratings board in Canada has apparently seen the trailer and decided to give it a PG rating, basically meaning it can be attached to any movie coming out. It also going to be 2:22 long. Still no news on when its going to be released but I am sticking with Need for Speed on March 14th as likely. Some rumors says the next 300 movie, but that strikes me as unlikely due to its R rating. Thanks to Noe D. for the link.

  10. Usually the rating gets posted about a week prior to release in theaters which would put it with 300 and a possible online release early next week.

  11. PG rating for the trailer is not good. So will the whole movie be watered down to PG level then? Not even a proper PG-13 anymore ? Really?

  12. ROTF's teaser was attached to Friday the 13th, an R-rated film. I'd expect the full trailer to be attached to a tent-pole film such as X-men: Days of Future Past or Godzilla.

  13. Guys, this is totally out of the blue, but in the Teaser Trailer, when 'Galvatron' is cutting the car in half, his right leg looks shorter then his left. In other words he looks like a short stumpy transformer. Can anyone else see this or am I just trippin?

  14. trippin...

Here in the Netherlands it also has nothing to do what rating the other movie has or wich genre it is, wich the trailer is gonna be attached to.
Nor doesn't it always matter what filmstudio the other movie is, it's completely random.

And why does it matter with what movie it is attached? It's just as fast or even faster on the interweb, so you don't have to got to the theatre to see the new trailer.

And I will go see the Need For Speed movie, bc there isn't any other car movie anymore this summer, since Fast & Furious 7 is postponed and NFS does looks nice eneough to see in the theatre.

  16. I expect that the CGI will be a little more polished than the teaser we saw for the super bowl. Interestingly enough, I looked up the keyword "Extinction" on transformers wiki, and it turns out that the Dinobot team actually merge to create a gestalt named "Extinction". I wonder if we'll see such a character in the film. Thoughts?

    2. well also because the dinobot gestalt was a mindless killing machine that made many autobot and decepticons heads explode in his rampage... i doubt it

  17. Asteroid that killed the dinosaurs was Unicron's "planet" form. Asteroid the size of Rhode Island this time, instead of planet sized. He's "dead", Primus killed him 65 million years ago.

Dinobots: The "transformers" that Unicron's body was populated with, similar to Primus' cybertronians. Some of them followed their God to Earth millions of years ago, reformatted to anything they could still find alive here when they found where he landed, but went offline since their source of life was gone.

Death of Primus in Earth's atmosphere as well as the dissemination of All Spark Energy from the first movie let loose tons of energy.

Some of this energy is captured in relics, the "Matrixes" of the Dinobots and where their life source comes from. The relics were empty since the Dinobots had been dormant so long. They're essentially Unicron's version of the Matrix, able to revive dead unicronians.

This is what Wahlberg's character finds, one of those relics, and it's active now.

Meanwhile, the Autobots have been forced into hiding by a rogue human organization, which is being supplied and aided by Lockdown.

Other relics have been found by the evil human character and funneled to China, where they were used to re-animate/imbue sparks to Chinese created transformers, which are pieced together from what remained of the Decepticons. Lockdown has been key in aiding the human to do this as well as locating the relics. These Chinese Decepticons are tainted with Unicron's energy and extra powerful - as well as having the ability to combine. Each is armed with a relic, and the relics combine to form Menasor's weapon as well. The program to revive these Decepticons is portrayed as being the responsibility of the evil rogue American businessman (since China would sensor the film if the actual Chinese government were portrayed as responsible.)

Wahlberg's final relic is lost to Lockdown, and it is used to re-animate what is left of Megatron's body. It is Megatron's personal weapon, but he's Galvatron now.

Prime and the Autobots have been on a hunt as well, locating the original recipients of Unicron's energy, long lifeless, aboard Lockdown's ship. Lockdown had located them but not revived them as they were not Decepticons and obviously extremely powerful. Prime uses the Matrix to re-animate them and because of this they are feral but not evil. The plant/warehouse where the Decepticons were being re-animated is revealed to be Lockdown's ship, cloaked, which Prime disables when he boards it, keeping it from transforming and taking off.

Big battle ensues. Galvatron leads the Stunticons against Prime, the Autobots and the Dinobots.

Movie ends with the Decepticons defeated but not destroyed, and Prime decides to leave the planet, as he realizes that the presense of the Matrix and the release of Allspark energy revived more than the Dinobots - Primus' old enemy is stirring deep in the ocean where he's been buried for millions of years, not completely dead, and Prime leaves on Lockdown's ship to locate what is left of Cybertron to see if he can use the matrix to revive Primus. The End.

  19. I can't speak for everyone else, but I can't remember any trailer that has had more anticipation than this one. I guess you can say that about the one that debuted with the Super Bowl... but honestly, I think seeing that (with how short it was) just made all of us wan't to see the full length one even more. I really hope Bay realizes how much we are all looking forward to this trailer and answers some questions with this one. As insanely excited as I am to see this movie, I'm almost equally scarred that this film may not live up to all of our expectations. This next trailer should give us an idea...
