First Look at New Transformers Cartoon's Optimus Prime

A new image from Kids TV Magazine has provide a look at the cartoon version of Optimus Prime to go along with the early peek at Bumblebee. The ad indicates that the news series, maybe simply titles "Transformers" is set for a Spring 2015 debut. It really does look like Hasbro intends to return to Transformers: Animated type style with a mix of Transformers: Prime. Considering their intent to simplify Transformers line wide to capture a younger (not teens or older) audience, the cartoon's look and possible direction aligns with that goal. As usual, time will tell. (via Seibertron)

  2. They forgot to add the ghosts of Obi-Wan and Yoda.

I've always thought, since Animated, that there's room in this franchise for 2 animated series to run side by side, aimed at different age groups. Although it's too early to say what this one will be like content-wise, we can probably have an educated guess. I really do wish they'd aim older for once, maybe finally reconcile the animated and comic book worlds. There's 30 years of comic book material to draw from, so it is frustrating to see yet another reboot. TF: Prime was great, the tone was just right (despite the kid characters, who, to be fair, didn't detract too much from the atmosphere), and they attracted a brilliant voice cast. I would be happy for a younger-skewed series, so long as there was an older-pitched one alongside it to counterbalance. IDW has 2 ongoing books running side by side with very different feels, and it works as part of an overall joint story. I wish they'd use this approach on TV.

    1. From what I understand, this isn't so much a reboot, as it's supposed to take place after Transformers Prime: Beast Hunters and Predacons Rising.

    2. Apparently so. Shame they've got nothing to show in the 30th anniversary year.

    3. Optimus had to sacrifice himself to return the Allspark to Cybertron's core. But The Covenant of Primus said he's an incarnation of youngest member of the 13 original Primes. When Orion Pax was born, he didn't remember his past life until he received the Matrix. What do you think will happen: will Optimus be reborn again without memories of his past or will his spark only communicate with Bumblebee and others through the core?

  4. I kinda like the look and the Bumblebee Skywalker-Optimus Kenobi vibe I'm getting. At the same time, as there are some things I don't agree with concerning the movies and the other TF media, I remedy it by creating my own TF characters and stories and I try to get involved with other TF fans who do the same. At the end of the day, Hollywood and Hasbro is thinking about $$$$-I refuse to allow that reality to stop me from making my own additions to the TF Universe.

    Respectfully,

  5. I wonder if Bee is going to be like a parallel to Rodimus, but without the Matrix.
