Grimlock, More Details from Entertainment Weekly Article

Entertainment Weekly has posted an alternate version of their Transformers: Age of Extinction article that is in their latest newsstand issue along with a much better image of Grimlock. The new details include Michael Bay pointing out that Lockdown's ship is important to the trilogy and how elements that are part of the movie that can be explored in later in the trilogy. Below are the key new bits of information compared with the published version.
Bay isn’t revealing his own origin story for Grimlock just yet. “I like to keep things very much in the dark. But yes, you’ll understand why they’re there when you see the movie. If you think I’m supposed to give away a lot of story points? No way! Keep it secret.

“Lockdown is an interesting character. He travels the galaxy, he works for somebody else. And he’s here for one person, one alien, and then he’s out of here,” Bay says. “So he doesn’t really want to take sides. The cause and balance of the galaxy is kind of messed up when different species play with different species. And that opens up a whole other gigantic world for Transformers.”

“Lockdown’s ship has a lot of meaning that can go into other movies. There’s a lot of backstory about that ship that’s not laid out here,” he says. “You’re going to see a few things where you’re like ‘What is that? And what is that?’ And you’re going to see a couple shots like, ‘Wait a minute, who are they?’ But we don’t answer those questions.”

“[The government] wants to wipe out all the Transformers, all the Autobots,” says Wahlberg, who becomes a de facto diplomat. “Optimus has lost all faith in humankind, and I’m trying to convince him there is still good in the world and we need to work together.”

Or as Bay puts it: “[Optimus Prime] done good for earth, and he’s been f–ked over.”

    One word: Quintessons!!!!!!

Based on these new comments, this movie is definitely going be successful! I have a feeling AOE is going to beat DOTM in the Box Office too!

    2. well that's kinda the idea. you want each movie to be better than it's predecessor. if it's not than the director and everyone else behind it, failed.

    3. Yes, it's very likely for the Quintessons to be the one who hired Lockdown, but Unicron is more likely in my opinion, due to the fact that Galvatron exists. Can't really have Galvy without Unicron.... And this movie seems to be waaay bigger and better than all three movies combined. Well, expect maybe the first one.

    4. But Galvatron of this continuity is human-made. This is not the same as G1.

  2. lockdown is obviously working for unicron and was sent to capture optimus prime and the matrix of leadership which we all know is the only thing that can destroy unicron. it makes too much sense not to be true.

  3. Unicron is way too massive. I seriously doubt we would see Unicron in any shape , way or form were accustomed to or would want to see.

  4. The ship is omega supreme. Probably not but someone has to say it.

  9. If we were to see Unicron he would look fairly shitty and not be planet sized resulting Iin a bunch of people crying. I bet he's not in it.

  10. Has anybody else thought that maybe when Lockdown captures OP that he takes him to another planet where the Dinobots are maybe as sport or something.......just a weird thought that came across me. And they somehow get back to earth.......I don't know. Just airing out my head here.

    1. That's a possibility. I thought maybe there would be a scene in space where we see an eyeball or hear a voice.

  17. CGI improves leaps and bounds every year. By the time TF5 or TF6 come out technology will probably be good enough to make a planet-size Transformer. You never know.

  19. Upon watching the trailers often and looking at Lockdowns ship it has a feel of Unicron it its making,as you see in several clips where massive disk like objects are flying tobearth, and the scene where ship starts devouring a entire building,to me its Bays adaptation of a simpler view of Unicron not being a entire planet floating around but maybe a armada of ships what when combined it creates him,and l know youbhave seen the poster where Lockdown is walking on the street with his ship behind him,to me the ship has that deep evil looking eye and two horn like objects beside the eye?to me that has a touch of Unicronesque touch if ya ask me...

  22. The ship is Bays version or unicron rather that a single entire ship it looks to be a armada of ship that possibly are able to combine to make unicron.

  23. if you listen to the sounds when the ship comes in, and starts to suck up the buildings/vehicles, its the unocron roar, the ship does appear to be a unicron-esque ship, the realistic live action version of unicron
