SDCC 2015 Day One Transformers News

I had planned to wait until the end of the weekend and just sum up all of the Transformers news from the San Diego Comic Con (SDCC) but it seems just do to the panel schedules that most of the news has already been released. Hasbro had their Transformers Brand Panel where they showed off the Victorion combiner (yep all repaints) and few other sets that are planned for release sometime in the fall. They also revealed a new cartoon web series with Machinima and another trailer for the Transformers: Devastation video game. At this point all that seems left in the news department will be from IDW's panel and usually they just tease the same material already released in the 3 month advance comic book solicitations. On the movie front I seriously doubt there will be any info. Below are the highlights with links to pictures from Thursday's first official day of SDCC.

Hasbro Transformers Brand Panel
- More combiners are coming, most of them being repaints or built from repaints with some retooling of some parts depending on the character.

- Victorion has a red and light green deco for all five figures using the some retooled molds. Character names are Pyra Magna (Hot Spot mold), twins Stormclash & Skyburst (Alpha Bravo mold), Dustup (Dead End mold), Jumpstream (Breakdown mold) and Rust Dust (Groove mold). With the character from Sea of Rust. Choice made from 255,000 fan votes. Will be sold as a box set with poster, card and weapons that combine into a sword. Display pics here.

- G2 Superion and G2 Menasor are coming as a box set that uses the rather interesting color schemes for the characters from the early 1990s. Set for early 2016 release. Display pics here.

- Scattershot (Silverbolt repaint with wing retools) is the torso piece for Betatron. Normally the character is leader of the Technobots that form Computron but Hasbro didn't reveal if the other Technobots are coming or not (my guess is no as they would require either heavy retooling or new molds).

- Exclusives planned for this year include Toys R Us exclusives Masterpiece Bluestreak (out now) and Starscream (October) and Target exclusives Platinum Edition Seeker Squadron, Platinum Edition Perceptor and Blaster (August) and Platinum Edition Trypticon (August)

- Revealed that a new cartoon web series based on Combiner Wars is in the works in a partnership with Machinima that is "specifically designed for the teen and adult fans who’ve grown up loving the Transformers brand.”

- Display Case galleries: TFW2005 I | TFW2005 II

- Confirmed Transformers Devastation's release date for October 6th, 2015 and that part of the story line is to stop Megatron (or other not revealed big bad) from cyberforming Earth with the game having many easter eggs. Voices include Peter Cullen as Optimus Prime, Frank Welker as Megatron, and Greg Berger as Grimlock. Below is the new gameplay trailer for the game.

Transformers: Robots in Disguise Panel
- Cartoon is one of the top rated shows on Cartoon Network (compared to or with what? so take it with a grain of salt)

- Hasbro wanted cartoon to share continuity with Transformers Prime but with Bumblebee at the center as the other characters are "too god-like".

- No news about season 2 but my understanding is the cast has recorded voice work for it.

- Not really discussed at the panel but click here for official pics of upcoming TRU "Clash of the Transformers" sub-line that is re-packaged repaints of existing RID toys. Display pics here.

- Clip from season 25th episode of the season below that introduces Megatronus (a Prime that turned evil)

Misc
- 3A Bumblebee and Megatron Statues - Hit the link for the SDCC display of these two upcoming statues based on the Dark of the Moon version of the two characters.

- Prime 1 Statues - A look the statues for Age of Extinction Optimus Prime, Age of Extinction Galvatron and Dark of the Moon Bumblebee. Usually these statues cost thousands of dollars each.
