Transformers: War for Cybertron Kingdom Available Now On Netflix

Friendly reminder that Transformers: War for Cybertron - Kingdom is now out on Netflix in the United States and I assume elsewhere in the world.  The six episodes will conclude the War for Cybertron trilogy as the Autobots and Decepticons meet their Beast Wars counterparts on ancient earth.  The toy line is also reaching its conclusion so will be interesting to see what Hasbro plans next.

New Transformers: War for Cybertron Trilogy - Kingdom Trailer

Netflix has released a new trailer for the conclusion of the Transformers: War for Cybertron Trilogy. Kingdom will release on July 29 as it depicts the Autobots and Decepticons crash landing on Earth.  In the old G1 cartoons, this would be when they go into status until revived in the modern era but in this revision that is the case as they meet their Beast Wars counterparts on the planet. 

In play is the Golden Disc. In original continuity, it was found by Megatron on Voyager 1 where he etched the means to defeat the Autobots and conquer Cyberton.  Exactly what, how and all that was never explained as it was destroyed by Dinobot in his last act before dying.  The part it plays in this new continuity remains unknown except we know its from the future as Galvatron gave it to his past self Megatron in an attempt to change history before being pulled back to his time likely by Unicron.  There seems to be a lot of story ground for the cartoon to cover. I am betting it is really setting up the next series of stories as the Transformers race enter the modern era on Earth as part of a not yet announced new line of Transformers toys. Netflix Announces Transformers: War for Cybertron Trilogy Finale Release Date for July 29

 Netflix has revealed the release day of Transformers: War for Cybertron Trilogy - Kingdom episodes as July 29, 2021. This will conclude the cartoon series as the Autobots and Decepticons crash land on Earth. This will also integrate the Beast Wars characters into the story.  The toy line itself has been the best Transformers Hasbro has ever made so hopefully the cartoon series will also end the War for Cybertron on the same high note.  Below are images Netflix used to tease the finale release.

TRANSFORMERS: WAR FOR CYBERTRON TRILOGY: SIEGE begins in the final hours of the devastating civil war between the Autobots and Decepticons. Rooster Teeth (RWBY, gen:LOCK) is producing the original series for Netflix, and Polygon Pictures (Godzilla, Knights of Sidonia) is serving as the animation studio. TRANSFORMERS veteran F.J. DeSanto (Transformers: Titans Return, Transformers: Power of the Primes) is serving as showrunner on the series with several contributing writers, including George Krstic (Megas XLR), Gavin Hignight (Transformers: Cyberverse), and Brandon Easton (Agent Carter, Transformers: Rescue Bots).

The Series voice talent cast includes Jake Foushee (Optimus Prime), Jason Marnocha (Megatron), Linsay Rousseau (Elita-1), Joe Zieja (Bumblebee), Frank Todaro (Starscream), Rafael Goldstein (Ratchet), Keith Silverstein (Jetfire), Todd Haberkorn (Shockwave, Red Alert), Edward Bosco (Ultra Magnus, Soundwave), Bill Rogers (Wheeljack), Sophia Isabella (Arcee), Brook Chalmers (Impactor), Shawn Hawkins (Mirage), Kaiser Johnson (Ironhide), Miles Luna (Teletraan I, Cliffjumper) and Mark Whitten (Sideswipe, Skywarp).

Netflix's Transformers Cartoon Gets Release Date

Sadly still quiet on the movie front. In the meantime, the next Transformers cartoon is getting a release date. Transformers War for Cybertron: Siege will hit Netflix on July 30. The series, which I assume plans to go along with the Siege and Earthrise toylines, will tell the story of origins and final days of Cybertron before the Great War forced them to abandon the planet. There is also no indications if this is a story tied into any previous iterations of the mythology (be it G1, movies, IDW, etc.) or its own self contained story. Guess we will find out when the six 22-minute episodes hit Netflix at the end of next month. Below is a preview tweet of the series.

Transformers: War for Cybertron Animated Series Heading to Netflix

For a while there was a rumor that Hasbro was working on an animated movie that would tell the origin of the Transformers war. Sounds like they decided to pivot to TV as they have teamed with Rooster Teeth to create an animated series for Netflix called Transformers: War for Cybertron. The series would debut sometime in 2020 on the streaming service. The name may sound familiar as was used for a video game from a few years ago.

The comics have already told the story that began as a protest movement more or less led by Orion Pax (Optimus Prime) and Megatron against a repressive government before Megatron's escalating tactics (like killing the entire government leadership) caused a permanent rift and eventually ignited the civil war that lasted millions of years. IDW Transformers comics were firing on all thrusters, worth reading the trades. I doubt the series will copy the comics line but wouldn't mind if they are inspired by it.
