Okay cat is out of the bag. Megatron is back ---- but you will only get to see him from the long lost past. We go way back in time as this movie explains the mythology of the Primes. He is not a tank like everyone suggests, but an alien vehicle. But sadly he does not has much screen time.Nice of Bay to finally confirm Megs' return. The whole Megatron thing is rather odd between misleading Empire Magazine, the continued denials and so forth but to be fair he is trying to keep the spoiler lid on as tight as possible to create the best possible movie experience, as is part of his job as director. It’s just us Transfans can be a stubborn bunch.
Michael
As for Megatron only appearing in flashback, that seems to contradict Hasbro's bio for Megatron from his leader class packaging.
I am really curious to know what he means by "the mythology of the Primes" in the context of the movie. In G1, a Prime is an Autobot deemed worthy by the Matrix of Leadership to lead the race. How and why is that choice made in the context of the movie universe should be interesting to see.
As is always the case when Bay talks, we are left with more questions then answers. June 24th will reveal all.
1st June 24th will be epic. Anyways this is more fibs from bay Megatron is resurrected.
ReplyDeleteHumm most likely fake news released by bay he is very mischevious! Besides Megatron is now confirmed as bieng in the trailer pinning down sam so i dont know whether to trust him. Even though he`s Awesome! :)
ReplyDeleteThe Mythology of primes is probably explaining there are other prime`s before optimus prime it may also show that Optimus prime has the Matrix of leadership which has been hinted but not seen in the film (He shows his spark which could be classed as the matrix)

Maybe that's what Bay's talking about.
But it's unfair, not getting much screen time. *pouts* Seriously, where's TRANSFORMERS without Megatron?
an alien vehicle, that happens to have treads, and a big cannon on top.
ReplyDeleteI NEVER SUSPECTED THAT MEGATRON WOULD RETURN! HOLY COW! THANKS, MICHAEL BAY!!
ReplyDeleteI think Meg will be back! and he will say "I AM MEGATRON!!!... again"
ReplyDeleteok just kidding.. but.. what about the thing.. that Bay says "Megatron - in the past..." maybe its Galvatron? (ok .. the toy bio .. i know.. )
What?!!? Megatron is returning? Wow, I DID NOT see that coming at all! (Sarcasm)
ReplyDeleteThanks for telling us AFTER seeing his toys and his (somewhat) appearance in the trailers.
But, I suppose it's nice to hear the words form Michael Bay himself.
Useful reading to understand what Bay might have decided to get from the original G1 anime and the franchise overall regarding the mythology of Primes:

http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Matrix_of_Leadership
The Autobot Matrix of Leadership (sometimes the Creation Matrix or, rarely, the Autobot Matrix of Power) is an artifact of great power, traditionally carried by the leader of the Autobots. By most accounts, it holds a part of the essence of Primus, the creator-god of the Transformers, although much about it, including its exact composition, remains a mystery. It generally appears as a hollow, spherical metal shell with two handles on either side and with a core sphere of blueish crystal at its center. The Matrix is the one thing, the only thing which Unicron fears.
-
Marvel Comics continuity
Generation 1
When Primus created the Transformer race, before entering voluntary systems shutdown, he bestowed upon them a genetic Matrix containing his essence and the majority of his power, which could be used to give life to more Transformers so that the race might grow without his direct involvement. Primal Scream Known holders of the Matrix throughout history included the first Transformer, Prima, and subsequently, Prime Nova, Sentinel Prime, and in the modern era, Optimus Prime. Dark Creation One account mentions a "Primon" as the second holder, but no other sources include him. Reaching the Omega Point
By the time of the war on Earth, the fact that the Matrix was a physical object was generally unknown to all but Optimus Prime himself, who kept it within his chest. Operating under the misconception that the Matrix was a program within Prime's mind, Shockwave captured the Autobots and decapitated Prime, using the residual Matrix energy contained within it to bring life to the Constructicons. The Next Best Thing to Being There! Prime was able to transfer the remaining energy into the mind of the Autobots' human ally, Buster Witwicky, The Worse of Two Evils! thereby preventing Shockwave from animating his newest construct, Jetfire. Brainstorm! Deducing that Buster possessed the Matrix, Shockwave programmed the unliving Jetfire to capture the boy, but Buster used the Matrix to bring Jetfire under his control, thwarting Shockwave's plan and saving Optimus Prime. Buster returned the energy of the Matrix within his body to Prime. Prime Time!
-
American cartoon continuity
Generation 1 cartoon
The origins of the Matrix of Leadership are almost entirely unknown. Some rather unusual evidence suggests that it may be linked in some way to the assistant of the ancient genius Primacron, who created Unicron (see the character's own article for details), but even if that is true, it is wholly unknown how it came to be held by the Autobots and how it was elevated to the position of power it is known for.
Traditionally carried by the current Autobot leader, it serves as a receptacle for the lifeforces of past holders, known collectively as the "Wisdom of the Ages." Virtually all of its holders have been unnamed, but are known as the "Ancient Robot," the "Powerful Robot," "Brooding Robot," the "Pre-Transformer," the "New Narrator" and the "U-Haul Robot." Many other Autobots have been seen within the Matrix, but their identities are unknown.
-
The Headmasters cartoon
A key distinction between the Matrix in this continuity and its sister timeline is that in addition to containing the Wisdom of the Ages, it is a source of exceptionally pure energy. It was this energy which was released by Optimus Prime to cure the Hate Plague. In order to recharge the emptied Matrix, it was hidden in an Autobot energy-gathering facility, steadily absorbing the pure, natural energy of Earth. Unfortunately, Prime had not foreseen the one great side-effect of releasing the Matrix's energy—it caused Vector Sigma to become unbalanced, putting all of Cybertron in great danger. The Decepticons took this opportunity to invade the planet, hoping to take control of the unstable computer and by extension, the planet itself, and Optimus Prime headed for Vector Sigma's chamber to try and rectify the situation. Four Warriors Come Out Of The Sky The Matrix, however, remained hidden on Earth, with no-one but Prime aware of its precise location. Hot Rod led the Autobot Headmasters in a search for the Matrix, but although they successfully recovered it, it was still not fully recharged. Nevertheless, they brought the Matrix to Cybertron, where the ghost of Alpha Trion re-energized it fully, transforming Hot Rod back into Rodimus Prime. Before Rodimus could use the Matrix to stabilize Vector Sigma, however, Optimus Prime sacrificed himself by merging with the computer to bring it back under control. A Dream is Born, Double Prime

I think his whole take on Meg's not being back means that in the present time, Megatron insn't back for any significant amount of time. Just for that scene in the trailer.
ReplyDeleteCan autobots fly?.... How did they escape cybertron gravity..... if they used a space ship...where is it now that they are on earth
ReplyDeleteGive me a god damn break Michael bay.. Are you kidding me? You think we'll believe that Bull shit you spit?
ReplyDeleteMegs doesn't come back? He REALLY must think us TF fans are STUPID AS FUCK!
Well anybody that believes his bullshit is.. give me a god damn break..
Megatron will be in the movie.. if you believe other wise, your head belongs up your ass
I hope Soundwave brings back Megs. Or Galvatron!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThere is no Matrix in this continuity.
ReplyDeleteIn the newest prequel comic Defiance Optimus is never called Prime. The movie will likely show how he came to be called Optimus Prime.
The Prequel books arent considered cannon.
i hate the matrix, i hope the movie story line always leaves it out.
ReplyDeleteheros are better if its due to bravery or courage rather than a magical power.

I can picture it now:
ReplyDeleteStarscream: Megatron . . . Is that you?
Megatron: Yes
Starscream: You suck
Megatron: Yeah i know!
Starscream: Why dont you call yourself something different?
Megatron: Like what?
Starscream: Galvatron, Gigatron . . . There all the same!
Megatron: Ok, From now on i shall be known as Sally
Starscream: Thats even worse
Megatron: *Disintergrates starscream* All shall fear the rule of Sally!
Seriously though this is going to get annoying here is what probably will happen:
TF1: Megatron fights prime and die`s due to allspark
TF2: Megatron returns after bieng in a coma after absorbing the allspark.
TF3: If Megatron is alive he will lead an army of decepticons against earth to destroy all life on the planet. If Megatron is dead he will be rebuilt by Unicron who will then come to destroy earth.

Okay so Megatron is back. In some form or fashion. Now whether it is just a flashback of course is up for debate. But i know one thing for sure; Michael Bay is a LIAR! (I love him for it, but it's true). Therefore, I have little faith in the specific details that come out of liars mouths.
ReplyDelete"According to The Quest For the ALLSPARK paperback's opening paragraph, "...Most revered were Optimus and Megatron. They were twin brothers of the Prime dynasty." This implies that Megatron may have also had the surname "Prime" at one time."
ReplyDeleteThis kind of explains an interesting part at the end of the battle between Megatron and Optimus when after Megatron absorbs the All Spark you hear Optimus saying, "You left me no choice brother..."
At least it was interesting to me because until now I had no clue what that meant.

There are some movieverse Autobots that can fly. Cosmos and others appear in the ROTS comic.
Both Autobot and Decepticon have ships. There are Decepticons capable of interstellar flight like the Seekers, Megatron and Blackout. The Decepticon's ship is on Mars. It isnt known where the Autobot ship but it has to be somewhere near Earth.
Both factions use the cometforms as a way to land on a planet undetected.
i hope megs is back as the tank, it looked so cool!
ReplyDeleteand sorry to go slightly off topic but:

Finally! xD Someone took heed to what I said!
I found that little bit of info a couple of weeks ago, and until now I see how it fits into place with ROTF. Ever since Optimus called Megatron his 'brother,' I've been curious.
I hate the fact Megs doesn't get screen time. *pouts again* Ehh, it might just be misinformation. Hopefully it is. :\
But I love the fact that Bay's finally shedding some light on this situation. I can't wait. :]

ok so this is the reason why NASA cant detect their incoming...hmmmm...but they aren't that stealthy tho,,i mean they are still solid objects,,they should have been detected...especially in that part 2 trailer...where they come crashin into that aircraft carrier

ReplyDeleteThey look like meteors. Meteors hit Earth all the time.
In the sequel the US government and their allies are aware of the Decepticons and the Decepticons are less concerned about hiding their presence. In ROTF: Alliance 3 Swindle blows up a gas station in broad daylight. The War is escalating on Earth.
Hey, wait. If Megs is only back in a flashback, why do we see his hand in the shot where Sam is pinned down in the trailer?
ReplyDeleteOMG SAM IS A TIME TRAVELER!
"OMG SAM IS A TIME TRAVELER!"
ReplyDeleteOmg... Prime sent Sam back in time to destroy megatron! Omg makes perfect sense now...
Sam goes back in time to destroy megatron before the war between prime/megs started! holy shit!!! Brilliant!!
It worked for Terminator why wouldn't it work for transformers???
I love it!!
Perhaps what Bay meant was when there was a time Megatron killed Optimus and the creator of the matrix gave life into him into Optimus Prime. I think Prime name before was Alpha. If somebody remembers an episode from G1, Siverbolt (Superion) accidentally goes back in time where he found Prime getting betrayed by Megs and Co.He actually save him from utter termination, Arcee was there too.
ReplyDeletemaybe bay is using a play on words. perhaps "megatron" is only in the movie in flashbacks, but he is called something else after he is revived. maybe he will go by "galvatron" in the rest of the movie. just a thought.
ReplyDeleteThe Origin of Optimus Prime: Alpha Trion briefly kept the Matrix safe before bestowing it upon Optimus (presumably when he rebuilt Optimus from the dying body of Orion Pax). Thats what happened an episode in G1.
ReplyDeleteHmm...Megs as Tank could be Gav in the present.
Ah well could be another misleading campaign from Mr.Bayplosion to keep us on the edge of guessing each time, I'll say he made that work. Though a second trailer would help. Like T4 now 3 trailers.
Come on "Bring the Rain!" in June...
I wonder if Bay would use Galvatron in this movie line. I dont see Bay using Galvatron as successful as it could be. Bay is making so many erroneous choices with these robot designs I'd hate to see Galvatron and Unicron in this current Transformers universe. I would absolute freak out if Bay ruined soundwave, galvatron, unicron, et al. He already destroyed Megatron in the first movie so lets hope we dont lose alot more from here out. (devastator better be g1-ish and not a complete disghusting re-design)

I think i will copy this idea and make a new film even more confusing and stupid than Terminator i shall name it Terminator Salvation.
It would have these people fighting even though you know in the end the machines and humans both loose. It would have this time traveling guy who killed the previous version or father of a robot who tried to kill his mom.
Damn someone else used my idea!

The preview trailers for Watchmen had a 3rd Trailer of Transformers back here in Nevada!!

cant wait to watch it again!!
i posted up the 3rd trailer here:

What are you talking about? The designs are absolutely perfect. The anime versions weren't good for live action, they would have looked Power Ranger style. Bay managed to make them better, way more realistic and real alien forms.
"As is always the case when Bay talks, we are left with more questions then answers. June 24th will reveal all. "
ReplyDeleteWhat happens June 24th? and why will we find out on that day?
to 12:05 thats when the movie come out
ReplyDeleteWhat the fuck is Bay talking about.Does he think we're stupid. Megatron is holding sam down in the trailer. Dont tell me you actually beleive that the only time Megatron shows up in present time is to grab hold sam down and nothing else, "sam you killed me, now i must come back to hold you on a table and nothing else for the intire film, because thats what evil aleins do when they comeback to like" . His hand is exactly the same as in the first film. And no its not starscream holding sam down, starscreams hands are totaly different.
ReplyDeleteBay just forget it we know he's in the film, you wouldn't deny him for so long if he was just going to be in the epilogue or what ever u wanna call it.
"What are you talking about? The designs are absolutely perfect. The anime versions weren't good for live action, they would have looked Power Ranger style. Bay managed to make them better, way more realistic and real alien forms."
ReplyDeleteAre you retarded or just smoking pcp. The designs are perfect? Kid, there isnt enough time to post how many things are wrong with bayformers. Megatron is a bunch of mangled metal, starscream looks like a peice of shit (thats the technical term)... the list goes on man.
starscream looks like a peice of shit (thats the technical term)
ReplyDeleteIs that the technical term? Because I'm pretty sure it's just another self-centred nerd's worthless opinion. Some people like the designs, some don't. Not everyone is going to think the same way as you.
From the first film the desings i didnt like were bumblebee (too ugly he looks different from some angles sometimes he looks awsome sometimes he looks like shit) Ironhide (sometimes he looked good but during fights there were too many bits sticking out).
ReplyDeleteI liked all the others, expecially jazz and ratchet and blackout and starscream.
the first transformers poster that empire had with optimus on the cover. I thought thats sooo perfect i didnt even have to read that it was transformers it was obviously optimus. Window chest, face plate, bla bla.
Even if the movie desings arent amazing (which they are)transformers desings have never actually been that good, G1 is just really fucked up, good cartoon but honestly they look like shorter versions of megazords, the robots have like 10 peices all together, and armada, no one would be able to fit in those vehicles because the limbs would take up the space as the limbs just pop out and dont actaully transform from anything.
Summary get over the movie desings. G1 wasnt even good to start with. For an 80's cartoon for 11 year olds it was good but you cant possibly expect it to translate into live action.
robot designs in general are fine, facial design in the movie was lacking.
ReplyDeleteprime's face was a mangle bits and pieces, can't really get attached to it or emote. megatron's face was a bit more organized, but too complicated to tell what is going on well.
thats the one aspect i would complain about, i want to identify and feel the robots are acting.
due to budget i can sympathize with Bay a bit for giving humans so much screen time. but the above is something that needs to be worked on.
Just like everyone else, I'm looking forward to the release of the second film. Though I have a few thoughts that I just wanted to post.
ReplyDeleteHaven't you all seen the other Optimus toys? Bat and such. What makes you think that what Mike isn't some ploy to boost toy sales.
When Mike was talking about primes in the past, he may have been talking about the Beast Wars saga. There was an Optimus Primal and such back then, as well as a Mega tron.
Also if you look close in the trailer I think you'll notice that it's actually Star Scream holding down Sam. Not to mention but when the car jumpes through the wall you can distinctly see three or so other Transformers chasing him. I don't know who they are but one looked an a heck of a lot like RC, though I don't know about the others.
If they make a third film, I believe that they will probably use Unicron in that one, as well as traveling back to their home. Or maybe Unicron will come here and try and eat us all.
Finally, isn't anyone else pissed that they used a Peterbuilt semi for Optimus's body, instead of going with something along the Freightliner line like they did in the past?
Has anyone here seen the trailer released on May 1 yet? If anyone has, then they should see Bay was lying about Megatron's screen time and when he shows up as well. The trailer shows much of Megatron himself, getting resurrected and all that on the bottom of the sea, but it also shows his head rising up behind Mikaela while she is standing on a bridge of some sort. The trailer also shows, in a scene where Optimus is fighting some decepticons, that the helicopter from the last movie Blackout was one of the decepticons fighting Optimus.
ReplyDelete
