COO of Hasbro Comments on Starscream

More notes from Transformers movie related big wigs. The first is a message from producer Don Murphy and now another note from COO of Hasbro, Brian Goldner. Hasbro is the American side producers of the Transformers line who are committed to producing the movie related line, which is the past is an indication needs to be ready to hit shelves by late May on the outside. He is speaking on the grey Starscream toy prototype, seen here:

Please let the people on the board know that any grey models they have seen are VERY early forms of toys and will be revised and changed, and will gain tremendous detail as they move toward finished products...

thanks and regards,
Brian Goldner
Its kind of sad its necessary for him to do this. The image is of a grey figure. Its screams prototype. Prototype in turn indicates that its still being worked out and updated. Its the whole point of the prototype is to allow tinkering with the final design until its locked. I will reserve judgment on the toy once see a picture that is close to the final design (and hopefully not so close to brother of Waspinator). They have at least 8 more months to tweak the design so I am not worried. The detail though, based on what little have seen, should be a joy to behold.

- be so glad when better quality pics without that ridiculous watermark comes out. Also made update to reflect original source of the note, thanks Shan

  1. This was posted by Nelson on ShootForTheEdit.com

Don Murphy's personal message was posted by himself on his own forum.

Try not to get your sources mixed up, it can be problematic if misunderstood by others. RIBFIR Her Pleasure is not some special insider.

Starscream is hideous. They have been told, they know. Don is working on influencing them to change it.

Considering the way development works, there is not as much as 8 months of time to work on it. An overreaction on the part of fans is better than an underreaction, as long as people can keep cool.

  4. This movie is going to greatly disappoint every single fan of the cartoon....all the designs have absolutely no correlation to the originals....they shouldn't even call this movie Transformers cause there's nothing about it that is true to the fanbase, my biggest problem is with Bumblebee...the character and the name suggests that he's like the little brother to the other autobots which is why he's a loveable character...and now he's a sports car? what the fuck is Michael Mann thinking

  5. First of all everyone who does not like the Transformers move needs to shut up. This does stay true to the orginal toys. The Movie is ment to represnt the Transformers in modern form I mean do you want the same ugly Generation One toys on the big screen? Hell no! They were ugly, blocky, and simple the Transformers movie is going to use CGI to the fullest extent to make the Transformers complicated and new all the designs are great. And it's not Micheal Mann idiot its Micheal Bay.

  7. What is up with all the hostility? I grew up with this stuff and was a HUGE TF fan. At least until the movie in 86. Seeing Prowl, Brawn, Ironhide, and Prime bite it that early kinda upset me. But anywho, that's 20 years ago. We all need to keep in mind that this movie isn't wholly devoted to "gen 1". It is a Transformers movie. Do you think I like seeing Optimus as a long nose with blue flames? No. But I'm not going to get up in arms about it. Does Megatron look like something from Guyver. Yes. But isn't he going to appear in the movie in his pure Cybertronian form? As long as there are Transformers in the movie and there is a really good story and plotline, one not just capitalizing on the fame and legacy of our beloved toy, I think we need to be open about this. It could be really, really good. Then again it could be the Phantom Menace. So what if Starscream looks like Waspinator. What matters is that he is going to transform into a jet and that he's a conniving son of a gun. I think it's cool that we can see the wires, bolts, and the pure mechanics of the 'bots. I love the traditional forms, but this is a new interpretation of our favs. It's up to us the fans, to voice our concerns to the people making the movie. Not wasting our time being nasty to one another. I understand that the Starscream form is already being worked on. Maybe not totally like his '84 form, but maybe something a little different than this prototype. Lets influence this movie, not bitch about it. I mean Don Murphy and Michael Bay are not as untouchable as George Lucas (I hope you remember that whole prequel fiasco). Cuss me, belittle me, do whatever you wish. I'm all for this movie, both good and bad. IT'S TRANSFORMERS!!! Shouldn't that be good enough for us. On the good side of things, at least there's no Jar Jar Binks, right?

Agreed. Hopefully these very early prototypes will be revised and improved upon to greatly resemble the G1 transformers.

  10. I cant understand why all u guys are being such haters. What did we love about transformers? The creative storyline, the action packed adventures the cool transformers themselves. But lets not forget these bots have personality. Personally that is what, i believed, always drew us fans to them. From the Vain jumped up personality of Beast Wars Megatron to the Style of Jazz to the Daring of Hotshot. All these characters have something in particular that alot of us if not ALL of us cud see in ourselves. Its the year 2006, lets just try to imagine lets say... Optimus transforming. If u look at the transformations from the cartoons, they were so unreal and impossible! i mean all u fanboys will go crazy over they changing the guy, but come on....change is good. Y cant the transformers b as complicated as the human body with pipes, tubes, joints, and a plain sence of life all round? Doing this i reccon will give the bots a more lively look and feel bout them. Im just asking all the millions upon millions of fans outthere.... PLZ have faith! Constructive criticism will move mountains. But if we continue to harp on minor issues like Optimus not being a flat nosed semi or bumblebee not being a bettle or the fact that the transformations are too complicated. Lets give it a chance......plz guys. I know i these ppl arent gonna frig up this movie. Plz believe in these guys. Its gonna b a great movie and yall know it!..... goodnight 2 ma niggas, beeches, and hoes!
