A sequel to Hollywood blockbuster TRANSFORMERS is in the works, according to director MICHAEL BAY.This is actually the first time news of a sequel has been confirmed from an "official" source, ie Bay. Everything has been mostly in the rumor stage. Almost confirming a sequel but not yet just saying "yep its greenlit." The importance of a greenlit project is that it means that its most likely going to happen and that budget has mostly been nailed down. Until then its all just working out ideas and debating the possibilities.
The movie - which stars Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox, has already grossed $220 million (£110 million) since its release earlier this month (Jul07) and Bay is desperate to oversee the follow up.
He says, "We want to start working on a sequel right now, so we'll see."

Bay: Transformers 2 "Right Now"
From ENI comes this little comment from Michael Bay:

It's great to have some sort of (semi) clarifacation on a sequal.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if Bay will decide to include shapeshifting in the next installment, I ask as I am already worried about what will become of Soundwave
Michael Bay must be stopped! No, matter what the cost!
ReplyDeleteMichael Bay did an exceptional job with Tranformers 2007. He did the genre justice and handled this particular sci-fi action adventure in way it deserved to be treated. My hat's off to him and I'm glad to hear he's on board for the sequels. I'm sure fanboys across the globe would have loved to have seen this movie get the melodramatic action type treatment reminiscent of Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings, but Bay's (backed by the film god Speilberg) vision worked best for the Transformers. Very few directions knows how to effectively choreograph action and how to pace an action film better than Bay, so stop all the hate and give the guy credit for breathing life into our childhood heroes and giving us a very enjoyable show.
