Megatron A Tank?

Chud.com is reporting that sources are telling them that Megatron does return in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. However, he doesn't come back in his Cybertronian jet mode but as a tank and he joins the Autobots in stopping the The Fallen.
Last week MTV essentially reran a story we ran months ago, but with different sources: yes, the villain in Transformers 2 is The Fallen, the Satan equivalent Transformer from the recent comic books. Now I'm coming at you with new TF2 news: Megatron is coming back.

OK, I don't think there's a soul out there who will be surprised when Megatron returns in Transformers 2*. If the current incarnation of the script follows the beats of a previous incarnation (which did not feature The Fallen), Megatron may be getting brought back by the Autobots, who need him to conquer the new menace. But I've learned that this time he won't be that weird alien jet. This time he's a tank.

Megatron apparently was a tank in the Transformers Generation 2 comic or toys or something (I don't know, I just looked it up on Wikipedia and I still don't get it), so this has some precedent. I imagine this is as close as we'll get to seeing him be a gun, since the movies appear to eschew the sort of size shifting antics that the comics and cartoons embraced.
As pointed out above, thanks to the general dislike over gun toys, Megatron has had multiple different alt modes over the years, including a car mode. The most common though remains the tank mode thanks to the big cannon which allows a little nod to his G1 incarnation.

Despite the precedent though, I have my doubts that this is a true. I don't know it just doesn't ring right. Seems like a lot of bother to try and set up Megatron as a huge bad guy and then soften him up for a sequel when there are much better things to be done with him. However, since we know nothing of the story any theory is valid and this is just another to add to the pile.

  1. No way this is true. Nobody would sign a contract to work on this movie if that was the script.

  2. It's probably just part of Bay's group to throw people off. There's no way I'm buying into that story.

  3. This is an obvious trick of the Bay disinformation campaign. A character like The Fallen in the movie that only a few fans barely know about? Introducing Unicron legacy all of a sudden like this using The Fallen?
Megatron joining forces with the Autobots, brought back to life by them and not even turning into Galvatron then?
This is quite silly. Just like it seems kinda silly the whole ice cream truck rumors and pictures... this sort of info really looks like it was made on purpose to cover the real script and not let people know what it's really going on.

I stick with the obvious idea that the term of "The Fallen" on the sequel title is there with just a triple meaning "Megatron/Decepticons/Evil" but that doesn't include the fourth meaning.. it's not the Fallen character from the comics.

  4. The script leaked early in the year where it centred round Vegas probably had most credability so far. It was leaked long before the 'Fallen' title was confirmed but still kinda ties in with the title, the story where the Luxor was a storage facility for the AllSpark's residual energy, the strip playing home to the showdown finale battle, Starscream returning with his own army, Skorponok reviving Megatron with his own spark, Hot Rod (F430), Ultra Magnus n Soundwave all present, being blown wide open for a 3rd film. I'm avid TransFan...not afraid to say but even I hardly new anything about the 'Fallen', certainly not enough to warrant making the character the central role in the film. I had no problem with Bay reinventing the franchise, it's reignited the fanbase, but I hope he doesn't shoot himself in the foot early and lose folk's interest. Besides...only gotta wait a few more weeks now til we get some answers...what with the trailer coming out in September n all. One thing I reckon is for certain is that the 'Fallen' does not refer to Jazz!!!

  5. Although it would be cool to see a fight between Megatron and The Fallen, I'm gonna agree with "dan orris". Bringing Megatron back would be strange, seeing as he was just killed off. I never really liked Megs as a tank, anyway.

    BUT,

I really, REALLY hope that The Fallen IS gonna be in TF2. He's just too awesome for Bay to pass up.

  6. I can see this being true although I dont particularly want it to be.
    1. It's a way to get Megatron back into the movies.
    2. The Fallen from the title actually is referring to the character like some reports before have said it is.
    3. Duhamel stated who he's working with is a big change (meaning working with the Decepticons).

Those were my first ideas that lead me to believe this could possibly be true (I hope it's not).

  7. Most likely false. It's too predictable.

  8. To be honest I would like to Megs back

    ALL HAIL THE MIGHTY MEGATRON!!!!!!

  9. Thanks for the FUCKIN spoiler warning you idiots. I will never come back.

  10. No way that this is true.
Read the most recent comments from Tyrese Gibson: "The conflict between the robots and the humans [is more angry]," Gibson adds. "The stakes have been brought up to a whole nother level. The conflicts between the humans and the Decepticons and then the conflict between the Autobots and the Decepticons. It's just more angry."...

  11. "3. Duhamel stated who he's working with is a big change (meaning working with the Decepticons)."

And in fact the spoilers that came after that statement told that the US military joined forces with the Chinese and Russian and other countries in a new international elite strike froce against Decepticons. So.. no way that this movie is going to show humans joining forces with the Decepticons themselves.

  12. yet another Bay's misinformation campaign.

  13. This info couldn't be right.....
This is Bay's campagne to throw fan's off...
IF Megatron would return, he would reincarnate into Galvatron, as in the cartoon Generation 2, and he would be even more ticked off!!

    ReplyDelete
  14. "as in the cartoon Generation 2,"

There was NEVER a real G2 cartoon, it was still the same G1 show... But there was a G2 comic, where he was turned into a tank... And why, if he return, does he have to become Galvatron? Becase... What? What will be the logical sense behind this?

"Megatron: Hey, i just got back from the dead, so i will change my name randomly witchout a reason"

    ReplyDelete
  15. I watched almost all of the TF cartoons in my childhood and my memory of Megatron dead/change is...
Starcream killed Megatron and UNICRON changed/reincarnated Megatron into Galvatron... and that happend in the (future)story-line with characters like Rodimus-Prime (Hot-Rod), Blurr etc.
    Or am I mistaking?!

    ReplyDelete
  16. people should really let it go about this "...because thats what happen in G1" ffs people.

  17. Look my "from Poland"-friend. ;-)
    Check this:

I got the starscream part wrong but the rest.....

  18. Ok, so Megatron in G1 was turned into Galvatron (IN G1)... I know. And... So what? Is this a rule now? That Galvatron HAVE to be reformated Megatron? Why? There is no Unicron, so OOPS, how it will happen?

(In that case... damn you IDW! You braking rules and rape my childhood by making Megatron and Galvatron separate characters! xP Boo hoo hoo xP)

    Like i said:

"Megatron: Hey, i just got back from the dead, so i will change my name randomly witchout a reason"

Yeah, that will be great (rolling eyes)

  19. i know i'm going to get slammed, but why not just let megs alone for now. if they introduce the fallen in the sequal and have a 3rd film, thats when megatron should be brought back it would make better sense if other 'bots were introduced first. Again just my thoughts.

    ReplyDelete
  20. I really DON'T want the Fallen in ROTF. Anything Unicron/Primus related should be used in TF3 at earliest.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I dont think Its the Fallen character. I still believe that the "fallen" is either Starscream or the Decepticons in general for losing. If you have been following the Reign Of Starscream comics from IDW's latest sequal spinoff (which they are trying to make as acurate as possible without giving any major information away) Starscream is really ticked off. And like Tyrese said it would be meaner, the comic is pretty brutal.

Consiedering what Duhamel said about working with someone new, think, they were in China they have taken it global (think Sector Se7en Worl Wide) possibly that NEST thing.

And if Megs was to ever come back it wold make more sense in the 3rd film. Let someone else have the spotlight in ROTF.

  22. Galvatron and Unicron is too early to come in to movie. There is no 'fallen' character in movie.Fallen just refer to ''Megatron/Starscream/Decepticons''.I can't believe people are actually thinking fallen would be in movie because of title??WTF??

    ReplyDelete
  23. yeah like the forums arent working?

    ReplyDelete
  24. does anyone know where you can find G1 TF cartoons or the original TF cartoon movie online? I see some on joust, but would like to find more

    ReplyDelete
  25. Quite honestly, as much of a TF fan that I am, I have absolutely no idea what the heck this "Fallen" goofball is. Nor do I care. I'm totally taking it literally as in Revenge of the fallen Decepticon foes who're gonna come back and kick some retarded Autobot ass. I mean, c'mon, if I were some 8-10 year old kid, that's exactly what I'm thinking. My puny brain has no concept of "Fallen" being a name, only a word that means "I've fallen and I can't get up!" :)

    ReplyDelete
  26. You know, I don't know. If it's true, it could be good, it could be bad. I can't make a real judgement until I see the second film, just like the first.

    ReplyDelete
  27. So Joseph Cagle, what exactly does your comment add to the discussion...?

    ReplyDelete
  28. It would suck if Megatron would return in the sequel...and I think he can't return...not in his old body anyway!!
(The bodies dumped in a oceanrif with a depht of 15 km?! The waterpressure...damn!! It would crush anything!!!
Or a decepticon must have swam with the navy, at the end of TF 1, and harvest de decepticon bodies when they just were dropped in the ocean by the navy.)

I think that ROTF is refering to the defeated Starcream and other decepticons.... an army with a 'fallen' leader. But that is my humbel opinion.
    Grtz,

    Mario

  29. this reminds me of the "Target 2006" uk comic issue part five "The Devil you Know" when galvatron comes back from the future to 1986 and reaks havick with decepticons and autobots alike. during this episode optimus is transported to limbo and that left the aoutobots are leader less so they dug up megatron and soundwave from a landslide that took place earlier in a battle with galvatron. once the autobots revived the rescued decepticons and elected megatron to lead the autobots to defeat a common enemy; galvatron.

Now replace the galvatron with the fallen and maybe somthing happens to prime and its up to the autobots to revive megs from the ocean and maybe some other decepticons and he becomes leader.

    thats what i think

    ReplyDelete
  30. i agree wit sound wave.

  31. Someone - I guess I'm just saying it's too early to make a judgment about this, at least in my opinion.

A lot of people who had bad feelings about the first movie before it came out were pleasantly surprised. I wouldn't be surprised if this happens again.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I don't know if that's true or not, but megatron's original form is a cybertronian tank, at leass in War Whithin comics, the original story of how the autobots and decepticons forces and battles began.

Still, I don't see the reason for the fallen to to be The Fallen. It's too mistical to a transformers movie. Best option should be the name the fallen to refer to the deception's fallen force.

Hei, Mr Bay, can we have some Dinobots, and Gestalts, please?

    ReplyDelete
  33. according to IMDB the plot is as follows :

The battle for Earth has ended but the battle for the universe has just begun. After returning to Cybertron, Starscream assumes command of the Decepticons, and has decided to return to Earth with force. The Autobots believing that peace was possible finds out that Megatron's dead body has been stolen from the US Military by Skorpinox and revives him using his own spark. Now Megatron is back seeking revenge and with Starscream and more Decepticon reinforcements on the way, the Autobots with reinforcements of their own, may have more to deal with then meets the eye.

    who knows though...

    ReplyDelete
  34. To the person who said that nobody would sign for the movie if that was the script. Are you kidding me? Is that a rational thought? You think Tyrece or Josh duhammel or anyone cares if megatron chose another side. I havent ever responded but that had to be the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard...i cant stop laughing....lol like they care

    ReplyDelete
  35. directed to Anonymous:
I have seen the movie myself, the fallen is an prime who turned evil.
Megatron is revived by The Allspark Shard.
Scorpinok does not exist in tf2.
The fallen = evil egyptian robotic entity who was a prime,he came to earth for "THE HARVESTER OF SUNS"...
and he fails....optimus prime cuts his facemask off along with his body dropping down into the endless pit....
