Top 80's Cartoon Villains

Another list, this one compiled over at Keckler Spray, fires off the top 16 cartoon villains from the 80s. Such a list wouldn't be complete without at least Megatron and Starscream and this one is no different. I wouldn't mind seeing Shockwave on the list.

The list:
16. Prince Lotor - Voltron
15. Miles Mayhem - M.A.S.K.
14. Barpm vpm Greenback - Dangermouse
13. Darkstorm - Visionaries
12. Hugo A-Go-Go - Batfink
11. Starscream - Transformers
10. Venger - Dungeons and Dragons
9. Doctor Claw - Inspector Gadget
8. Zoltar - Battle of the Planets
7. Mumm-ra - Thundercats
6. Gargamel - The Smurfs
5. Shredder - Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
4. Cobra Commander - GI Joe
3. Serpentor - GI Joe
2. Megatron - Transformers
1. Skeletor - Masters of the Universe

The clip above is from Transformers: The Movie where Megs effortlessly tears through the Autobots with a line that needs to be in the sequel if Megatron returns - "Such heroic nonsense."

It also reminds me that the sequel needs a moment like that where villain, say The Fallen from the title, rips a hole through the Autobots and/or Decepticons to just prove beyond all doubt he is not to be messed with. It’s something that was missing with the first movie. Megatron was never a serious villain because of his absence for most of the movie and he didn't demonstrate his power (sorry little Jazz doesn't count). It was just implied but never proved.

Bay should check out Serenity. Towards the end a major character was suddenly killed, as a result the fire fight that followed was tension filled as you didn't know who could be next. He needs to set something like that up where the audience is convinced that someone else could fall. (source)

  1. This List is a joke, Serpentor ahead of Cobra Commander, that is kooky talk. How is Megatron not number 1?

  5. Star is reporting that Shia LaBeouf called Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen producers yesterday, to inform them that he may need to amputate one of his injured fingers. Shia injured his hand in a West Hollywood car accident on July 27th. I’m hearing that LaBeouf’s injury has caused a lot of havoc on the production. I can only imagine if doctors do decide to amputate Shia’s pinky finger, it would probably be impossible to shoot and edit around. Last week Bay was telling reporters that they were trying to figure a way to work it into the story: “His two fingers are pretty mashed,” Bay told Access Hollywood. “But we’re figuring out a way to shoot around it, kind of write it in the story.” But one must remember that Hollywood does not shoot a film in sequential order. I’m not sure how it would be possible to write an injury into the story without major reshoots.

Sorry, don't know where else to post!!! Greetz

  6. Does Unicron not count because he was a movie villain? Because that guy blew my 7 year old mind AWAY

Whatever though, I can get behind any list that recognizes Baron von Greenback.
