Doctors have told Shia LaBeouf they may have to amputate one of his injured fingers, Star has learned exclusively.Bay has previously commented that Shia's "two fingers are pretty mashed...", or "crushed" as Shia's lawyers described it. Surgery was required to repair his hand after the accident. Sadly the need for an amputation is not far-fetched especially if the surgery didn't work or the area was infected enough that gangrene has set in. The only treatment once gangrene sets in is debridement or removal of the infected tissue, i.e. remove the finger. Hopefully Star's report will be confirmed as untrue so its too early to speculate the impact it would have on Transformers 2 production. Thanks to Melvin for the heads-up.
The young star, now working on Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is likely to lose the pinky on his left hand, a source on the movie set says.
"Shia called producers yesterday and told them," the source on the set in Alamogordo, N.M. says. "It's really thrown the movie into turmoil."
Shia, 21, mangled his hand when his SUV rolled over twice in a July 27 accident in West Hollywood. He was cited for DUI although cops say they do not believe the accident was his fault.
A request for comment from Shia's rep was not answered at press time.
Update: As the picture from JustJared shows, about the only finger confirmed not to be damaged is his pinky finger so safe to say it is a keeper. But what if the amputation story is right but Star got the finger wrong? It's a "completely fabricated story," LaBeouf publicist Melissa Kates tells E! News.
There you go, Star's crack group of "reporters" have the story wrong to the surprise of no one. Thanks to Duh Splash and Luis in the comments for the updates on the story.
Just for fun, let us consider several scenarios here:
ReplyDelete1. Amputation of finger results in CG'd human finger a la Forrest Gump frame-by-frame photoshop where they convincingly removed the legs of his army buddy.
2. Amputation of finger results in CG'd robotic finger a la Star Wars where Luke gets a replacement hand. Shia's character could certainly benefit from this from some terrible battle, "no sacrifice, no victory!"
3. No amputation, just skin grafting and steroidal bone and muscle regrowth. Clearly a non-issue here but I'm sure a buncha action scenes would need to be altered. I'm sure Megan Fox would certainly be great action-star potential.
4. Amputation of Shia. Let's just do away with Shia altogether and make Megan Fox the main character. Boom! Problem solved! haha
damit shia how can u do this to us...
ReplyDeleteWith plastic surgery nowadays they can reconstruct fingers that were destroyed by gunfire. I have seen the results on a guy I know and you can't distinguish that the fingers have been re-constructed. He completely lost three fingers due to an accident where he shot his own hand. He was severely injured and they were able to re-construct them perfectly, and they are fully functional. This happened quite some years ago.
ReplyDeleteSo.. surely there are no money constraints in this case which means that Shia himself and Paramount/Dreamworks anyway can pay for the best surgery specialists in the world. Of course full re-construction takes quite a long time.. so that could mean putting the new Transformers movie on hold for 6-9 months.. causing a serious delay to its planned release date.
I don't believe this story one bit, Star Magazine is a supermarket tabloid.
ReplyDeleteAll I have to say is “BWA HA HA HA HA!” Serves him right for trying to be some new wanna be badass in celebrity town. He shall forever be know to me as Shia-of-the-nine-fingers if this turns out to be true.
ReplyDeletewhy not give him a robofinger? 99% human 1% transformer, have it transform into a tool for pickin yer nose.. I'd buy that for a dollar!
ReplyDeleteI don't think his pinky will be amputated as seen in the photo in the link http://tinyurl.com/65zs67 , this photo clearly shows his pinky.
ReplyDeletei call bs on this story.
ReplyDeletejust jared had several photos of shia and his hand, and they CLEARLY showed all fingers bandaged EXCEPT the pinky finger, which looked perfectly fine.
so yea, bs.
To all of you people saying it does him right, fuck you. The accident wasn't even his fault, yet now if this story turns out to be true (which I consider unlikely), means his career is over, and the movie is over.

ReplyDeleteYeah, the pinky would definitely be the one to be amputated. :|
I wouldn't quote anything Star prints.
ReplyDeleteGood call Dan Orris. Sure looks like the pinky needs to go. As I just said, I wouldn't quote anything Star prints. It is guaranteed BS.
ReplyDeletehttp://justjared.buzznet.com/2008/08/01/shia-labeouf-broken-fingers/
the story is FALSE!!!
ReplyDeletehttp://www.eonline.com/uberblog/b22552_no_amputation_shia_labeouf.html
Yeah, but what if he amputates his finger ANYWAY? Do you know how much it'd be worth? HAHA He'd be the nine-finger freak wonderboy!
ReplyDeleteThey should just work this injury into the script, hey, Luke Skywalker had his left hand chopped off by Darth Vader, why can't Sam have the same thing happen to him by a Decepticon?
ReplyDeleteI Think it will be closer to being stepped on by a Decepticon, than being chopped off by one.
ReplyDeleteYou know, for what it's worth, relishing in the humor of Shia's crazy antics and accidents he's getting himself into makes this blogspot even more fun to engage in.
ReplyDeletei know this is off topic but why arent forums working?
ReplyDeletePropably Decepticons hacked them. INVASION!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the props, but it was actually dan orris that found the pic. I just copy & pasted his link. But sweet, got my name in the blog!
ReplyDeleteThanks blog dude, keep up the good work. But you may want to avoid posting anything that Star prints.
Shia "Dildo fingers"... Gives anyone a good "fingering" hahaha
ReplyDeleteÇI just can not imagine at me without one of my precious fingers, I need all of them and I think they look good next to each other.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to know that Shia's Finger will stay where it is.
