TF2 Laserbeak Toy?

TFW2005 has posted a gallery (pics below) of what the site theorizes could be the toy design for Laserbeak in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. A secondary theory is it’s the RC toy/TF that the call sheets mentioned. One last theory is the toy is Dead End, who in the original G1 series was a Decepticon Stunticon who formed the gestalt Menasor.

The line-up of Decepticons for the movie remains largely unknown and the Laserbeak theory seems based on the idea that where there is Soundwave, his minion must follow. Now how it was reached that this picture is Laserbeak I don't know. I guess because of the avian look to the head. The RC theory is probably based on the unfamiliar car mode not based on any known GM vehicle. Dead End theory seems just as possible but if looks is the only clue, the G1 toy was based on a Porche 928 which looks nothing like the alt mode of the toy. The closest G1 Transformer that I can think of that matches the toy is Lightspeed (pic), a member of the Autobot Technobots who formed the gestalt Computron.

Ultimately with so little information, what the toy could be is anyone's guess. The head and design makes me think "TF movie" rather then animated toy line. I almost want to call it one of the "decoy" TFs (based on the video games) that Hasbro released but those toys never had a real face while this one does. It could however be an extension of that idea, where the decoys simply have more detail.

  1. The car is so ridiculously silly-looking that it can only be some proposed RC car or unrelated to the Movie. I don't believe it'd be LaserBeak, Beak = Bird.

No actual concept vehicles I'm aware of call for any parts of this exaggerated vehicle design. I'd say it's just coincidental to the Movie release series and therefore in the Transformers Universe toy series ala re-release of modified AerialBots, Devastator, etc, that we currently see in toy stores right now.

  2. why would lazerbeak be three quarters the size of soundwave? I'm calling BS on the lazerbeak part. There is nothing that we have scene or heard from any part of this movie that could be a red car. If it's supposed to be the Audi R8, it's a bad match for it. just doesn't make sense.

  3. It's from animated series If anything. The vehicle lines and colors are not conducive to the overall theme of tf2.

  5. Agreed. Much more of the Animated series style. Good call.

I don't know why the dude placed him next to the proposed Soundwave. Probably just for scale or whatever.

  6. How in the world did anyone arrive at Lazerbeak??

Ravage is supposedly Soundwave's minion in the movie.

  7. The car doesn't look that dis-similar to a lotus Elise to me, could be a new prototype or something.

  8. Uh... NO Lazerbeak is not a car.

  9. It's from Transformers Animated.

  10. So he's not gonna be a guitar? FUCK!

  11. You never know, it could be a non-movie toy or possibly even a new character...

  12. Seibertron dudes were very helpful in providing a link to the actual REAL concept vehicle. A Peugeot 9009: http://www.zoo-logique.org/3D.Blender/galeries_automatiques/galeries/wip/speedtiti/125_Peugeot9009-05s.jpg

So I was wrong and it's a very real legit vehicle, but no clue as to if this is in the Movie or just a sideline character.

  13. Actually while it is similar to the 9009, if you look carefully, it isn't the same car... the rear portion, front grille, lights and overall contour is actually different... wonder who this is :P

  14. That's fake. Laserbeak has always been like metallic bird. And how in live action continuity could be car looking like that? That is not movie toy!

And nobody says that it's for sure Laserbeak. It MAY BE him but MAYBE not. Stop the panic.

  17. Ok, I guess that is one of new toys, but not surely Laserbeak or anyone who makes appreance on ROTF.

    ReplyDelete
  18. They also said it could be "Dead End". A guy on another site said he was offered this toy a while back and said it's name was "Dead End".

Well here's our answer I guess:

Our Trailer for Transformer you have been asking about - First there will be a teaser poster soon after the new year, and the teaser trailer will be out either in the theaters early Feb. or on the Superbowl. Cannot decide yet. I'm going to release some set stills on this site in a few weeks. I'll keep you informed.

  20. I thought laserbeak was a bloody Bird, now it's a car? Hmm.. someone please save us w/ some truth.

  21. "I thought laserbeak was a bloody Bird, now it's a car? Hmm.. someone please save us w/ some truth."

I tought that Ironhide is a red van.
I tought that Ratchet is a white ambulance.
    I thought that Megatron is a gun/tank.
I tought that Soundwave is a tape redocred.

Your point izzz? If Bay says that laserbeak is now a car, he is a car. Just accept the change, and be happy, that he is not a dildo or something...

  22. "be happy, that he is not a dildo or something..."

I can TOTALLY see that as a Robot Chicken episode. haha

Who said Bay named this "toy"? Who said this is officially "Laserbeak"? Who said he was IN the movie? It's all speculation. As stated in one of the posts above, this COULD be "Dead End" but no one really knows for sure yet.......

He could be just a drone like Hasbro made for the first movie (except with a better face). Labeled as a movie toy but not actually in the movie. Remember those?

Everyone quit getting your panties in a bunch.

Then they would have to rename him "peckerhead".

    ReplyDelete
  25. Brings a whole new meaning to the phrase "Laserbeak... eject..."

    ReplyDelete
  26. Yes, in this NEW version we shall rename them:

    SoundWave to FartBlast
    LaserBeak to Peckerhead
    Ravage to FeralCat
    Frenzy to TourettesMouth
    Rumble to UpsetTummy

FartBlast shall EJECT these evil scourges of the universe upon us and we shall writhe in agony until those damn stanking AutoBrats save us like Scooby Doo and Scrappy too~!

  27. Given the propensity for change in this series (as well as pee pee jokes and happy time).... I really hope nobody from Bay's creative team is reading that last post.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Ironhide may not be a van, but is still a vehicle wheels
Ratchet may not be an ambul. but is still a vehicle w/ wheels
Megatron was a gun & now a jet ( big deal on this one, he is the leader.)
Soundwave no longer taperecorder, can live w/, now a sat. ( wise)
Ravage was a cat, today he still resembles a cat ( good )

BUT Laserbeak is known to be a bird, not a bloody car.
Car=wheels, Bird does not = wheels.

  29. I have to agree with some of the posters above: the toy does seem to be more in line with the new Animated series and not the movie. But hey, you never know.

If it's between Laserbeak and Dead End (or some other Stunticon), I'd hope it's Dead End. I think that if Laserbeak is in the movie, he'll be that Frenzy-like robot that we saw attacking Sam in his car - or something along those lines. But I guess we'll know in a few months.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I wonder if it is possible that it is Dead End, and that perhaps the rumored gestalt for the movie is not Devestator? It would certainly fix the name continuity issues with regards to Devestator and Bonecrusher. Not to mention a couple of scout class vehicles would nicely equate to a normal sized Gestalt... Anyone remember the mock-ups of Motormaster that appeared a few months back? Unlikely.... but a thought.

  31. "I think that if Laserbeak is in the movie, he'll be that Frenzy-like robot that we saw attacking Sam in his car - or something along those lines."

Question about the "Frenzy-like robot" - didn't Michael Bay say that wasn't a small robot but merely the end of a big robot that will be CGI'ed in later? Or am I mistaken?

    ReplyDelete
  32. Blah blah blah, it's just speculation; no one knows anything for sure yet. Calm down. Christ.

    ReplyDelete
  33. To snortpocket: I can't recall what, if anything, Bay & co. might have said about that robot. Those scenes came out pretty early in the filming process, and I guess my memory just isn't as good as it used to be.

The robot could have easily been a stand-in for later CGI work. The thing I do remember is that, apart from the windshield, the car wasn't significantly damaged. If it was meant to be a larger robot, you'd expect damage on the level of what Barricade inflicted in the first film. Unless Bay decided to CGI the damage as well. Oh well, like I said earlier, we'll know for sure in a few months.

  34. i think its laserbeak, 3 reasons red black and gold, plus it does have a bird like head

  35. If this is Dead End....

"He returned to Earth with the other Stunticons and engaged in the destruction of a military base, before being called on to form Menasor to battle the new Autobots, the Aerialbots."-From Wiki

Wasn't there a rumur about a big military base showdown jawn being part of TF2?

    ....and new Aerialbots??

What about the one picture earlier of the white jumbo jet tailfin with the Autobot emblem? And the SR-71 plane being filmed?

Does any of this jive with anybody?

    ReplyDelete
  36. What about the one picture earlier of the white jumbo jet tailfin with the Autobot emblem?

That actually turned out to be MB private jet that he took to one of the sets

Aw snap, i didn't know that. Thanks...

  38. Last I checked, birds don't roll along the ground. Unless you count penguins. I don't think LaserBeak is a penguin. Just because the robot we see has a red and black head doesn't necessarily mean he's LaserBeak.

I mean, for all this purist colorism going on, I'm surprised nobody's complaining about Ironhide being changed from a dumpy red outdated soccer-mom Toyota minivan to a REALLY BIG BLACK TRUCK. With bigass guns.

    I mean, c'mon. haha

    You know, that:

    1) Season 2 has ended few months ago, we now wait for season 3.

    2) Wasp was a green clone of Bumblebee with new head.

    3) He will be in season 3, and he will be, well, a wasp.
