Bethlehem Call Sheet Reveals TFII Revelations

Thanks to an anonymous source, I have a scan of the call sheet used on Wednesday June 4th for the Bethlehem Steel shoot. A call sheet is used to direct the cast and other crews to where they need to be, when and what for. It usually includes a breakdown of cast members participating in a scene, brief description of the scene and many other details. I plan on summarize a lot of information within the call sheet along with the images of it. Suffice it to say, there are spoilers contained within about the cast, some of the Transformers, where the next bit of shooting is occurring and other details.

!!! BIG SPOILER WARNING !!!

There have been rumors about who was at Bethlehem Steel to shoot for the film. Was Shia or Fox there, who else was there, what did the cars do, which where Transformers, which where not. Now this is just for Wednesday but not a reach to infer this went for the other days to.

From the sheet, the movie is given the code title of E7². From the comments,
around the Bethlehem base camp there where "E7" signs which apparently are reused at each location. The shoot is scheduled to go 84 days, not including days off or the built-in hiatus.

Bethlehem Steel's Role
Based on the scene descriptions, the role of the factory is a Shanghai, China steel factory. The scenes describe action and vehicle chases occurring along a "Shanghai Steel Yard" and "Shanghai Side Street". The scene is the Autobots, SAS and Lennox's team chasing after Decepticon Audi R8. What the air attacks are about is not on the call sheets but I imagine they are Decepticons.

Also the Sands Bethworks, a casino on the otherside of the steel factory, was used for an exterior shot of Bumblebee and the Ice Cream truck for below describe next stop in Transformers II filming.

Bethlehem Steel Human Cast
The cast at Bethlehem Steel was Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson, Matthew Marsden and Andrew Howard. Josh and Tyrese was already confirmed (pics here and here). The news of Marsden's casting as SAS Graham was just out this week, didn't know he had already started shooting.

A new addition is Ramon Rodriguez, (The Wire) who was cast as "Leo" and based on being number five on the call sheet, I am guessing he is Spike's college roommate.

Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox did not film at the site. The call sheet has multiple gaps in the cast numbering which simply suggests that are more principle cast members, its just they didn't work on the scenes on the sheet. It appears the first 12 numbers in the count represents the "core" cast for the movie. One is Shia LaBeouf, 2 is Megan Fox, 3 is Josh Duhamel, 8 is Tyrese Gibson, and 12 is Matthew Marsden. Of note is the gap for 4 (John Turturro), 6 and 7 (one of them is Jon Voight) and 9 - 11. Could some of those be the rumored casting of Nina Dobrev or Aaron Hill?

Vehicles Used
As far as vehicles used the 3 Can-Am Spyders, an Ice Cream Truck, Bumblebee (not in Shanghai), Ironhide, 3 NEST Hummers, 2 Trikes, Go-Kart, 10 Shanghai dressed police vehicles, Audi R8 and a NEST semi. Also a Chinese Police helicopter and 2 Blackhawks all equipped with spotlights.

Smithsonian Air and Space Museum
Production's location is the Smithsonian Air and Space Mueseum. The schedule is June 5 to Sunday June 6. The cast will include Shia LaBeouf, Megan Fox, John Turturro and Ramon Rodriguez. Based on the scenes it appears they are hunting for something Decepticon related at the museum after hours involving the SR-71 Blackbird (with a Decepticon insignia) that is there.

There is also a mention of "Splinter". I am not sure if that is a TF or an Autobot artifact for the film. As someone in the comments noted, this could be the piece of the All Spark that Prime removed from Megatron at the end of the movie.

Transformers
Known Transformers at the sites was Ironhide and Bumblebee (at the Smithsonian). Additional NEW Transformers from what I can tell is Arcee (combines from 3 Can-Am Spyders or 2 Trikes), The Twins (the Ice Cream Truck), Stinger (a Porsche I think), unknown Decepticon (Audi R8), Wheels or Wheelbot (the Go-Kart?), Jetfire (the Blackbird) and a "Constructicon Earth Mover".

The rumors have been around for a while that the Constructicons and therefore Devastator could appear in this movie. Considering a theme of merging Transformers, this seems to be confirmation of that rumor.

A final note is that for the first movie Bay did use placeholder names for some of the TF cast until a final determination was made. However in pretty much all of them the names became final. The only exception was Devastator instead of Brawl.

Summary
Locations: Shanghai, China and the Air & Space Museum in Washington, DC
New Transformers: Arcee, The Twins, Stinger, unknown Decepticon Audi R8, Wheels, Jetfire, and Constructicons
Alt Modes: Can-Am Spyder or Trike, Ice Cream truck, Blackbird, Audi R8, Go-Kart, and earth mover
New Human Cast: Ramon Rodriguez (Leo)

Still no clue what the story is about but clearly Bay is taking Transformers in a new direction with the merging Transformers theme on a large and small scale in a way that Hasbro only dabbled in. I can't wait to see what the visual effects on that looks like. I imagine many future headaches making it work to the perfection that was the effects in the last film.

Updates have been made based on information in the comments.

Um, where's he rest of it?

how could they have devastator when they had the decepticon devastator wrecked by optimus in the first film?

I'd guess that "splinter" may refer to the shard of the Allspark Optimus removes from Megatron's chest at the end of TF1. Perhaps it made its way into the Smithsonian?

Also, "Wheelbot"? "R8"? These had better be placeholder names, Bay!

The E7 was the name of the basecamp at bth. steel. The signs were on the fences and on roads signs in the area, like to guide trucks on how to find the place.

The signs are used with all films anytime they shoot on a location. They don't make sign for each location, just for the shoot in general and re-use them. Hence, E7 is the codename for the shoot. It may be the name for the Bethlehem St location too, I've never been there, but if it is, then they must have adopted the name for the whole shoot. Trust me, I work in independent film, I know how call sheets work as well as set routine.

Also, the 84 days doesn't include days off, so the shoot will last for over 3 months.

What day are they suppose to be filming at the unversity of PA i mean Shia and Megan?

I was thinking that S7 and E7 could have meant the same thing almost. Instead of sector 7 it could be something else 7, basically another secret government group/....

and btw, just so there are no complaints or crazy people, you might want to put black marks over those phone numbers, those might be pretty important and not for the public, just a tip in case

A simple black marks over phone numbers would had been fine. It's a shame now you can't read the set/scene description. It was neat to imagine the scene.

I think Ramon Rodriquez looks too old to be Sam's college roommate. His name was supposed to be "Chuck" too.

I had a feeling that IF the Constructicons were going to be in this film, that only ONE of them would be in it, much like how TFA(Transformers: Animated) only has two of them. Then again, it's still early - who knows except for Dreamworks, Bay and the 3 writers?

I hope and pray that the Ice Cream Truck IS NOT Sideswipe and Sunstreaker, which are pretty much the only transformers I know of (anyone please correct me if I'm wrong)referred to as, "The Twins". Am not familiar with Rack N' Ruin, but Runamuck and Runabout. Will have to wiki that.

I also hope, "Wheelbot" and "R8" are codenames (they probably are, knowing Bay and what went on during the last film) as I DO NOT want to see Wheelie in this film, or any of the TF films. While I do like poetry myself, and write poetry, I CANNOT stand Wheelie's character - maybe if his voice wasn't so high-pitched, and if he actually had a significant plot function, I could actually stand him. Splinter may be the Allspark fragment that Optimus grabbed at the end of TF1.

IN closing, I figured that this film could take 3 or more months, especially with all the animation/render time ILM has on their hands (Man! Can you imagine the overtime?), and also with the looming SAG strike, and other film-making variables. While I'm excited, I'm CAUTIOUSLY excited.

Ok. There a "bikes" listed pural i the chase sequence, meaning more than 1 arcee. I hope to heaven she is not a combiner, because that would royally suck. There are also reports of there being numerous girls dressed in biker gear at the bethlehem shoot...again, confirmation of multiple arcees, or just stunt doubles...?

Anonymous said...

i think what they mean by 3 arcees is to have 3 arcee props on the set, you never know when something can go wrong and a bike is ruined... can't waist time waiting for a new bike when you have one right there. they might also be doing different takes with different riders , so one arcee in the movie, not 3

Leo will not be sam's room mate. if anything aaron hill will be chuck or in the fraternity because sam is going to be joining a fraternity. My only guess as to why so many co-stars as college kids is simple, sam gets wasted and cheats on mikaela, maybe since they're at college they start to lose feelings or what not, or maybe they all just have a different story they bring to the table. and leo could also be a brother or relative of one of the cast memebers already.

In the Air Museum section you talk about the Autobots searching for a SR-71 with a DECEPTICON insignia. But then, in the Transformers section, you talk about Jetfire as the SR-71. I may have missed a couple of episodes in the G1 era, but Jetfire, a decepticon? Am I missing something?

Anonymous said...

Jetfire (or "Skyfire" as he is alternately called) was a Decepticon but converted to the Autobot cause after realizing that the Decepticons were only interested in his scientific research to further their greedy fuckery

Anonymous said...

maybe they'll follow that story and in a tearjerking moment of monumental emotions (that only Bay can achieve), we will see Jetfire realize that good must triumph over evil, and switch sides

Anonymous said...

I don't want to be mean, but most of these questions can be answered with a simple wiki search... that's what searching is for. Someone already explained Jetfire (Skyfire), as for Devistator, if you notice Brawl (Devistator) only refers to himself once with that name. Also, the credits don't call him Devistator or Brawl. Bay openly said he liked the name more. If you read anything Hasboro says, they consider it a glitch and refer to the character as Brawl. Also, all of the toys and such are named Brawl.

Ummm R8, as in Audi R8 as in that's the damn model of the car... please hit yourself in the head with a hammer now.

Honestly, I don't want to be mean or anything, and it's not like I'm a Tranformers buff. I watched the cartoons as a kid (20 years ago), saw the original movie, saw and own the new movie, and browse some blogs regarding the second. Anything I don't quite get, I google or wiki. Not rocket science here.

X2^^ Thank You! lol, I was just about to post the same exact thing.

To the last 2 posters, yes, I understand your frustration, however wikipedia and blogs are not always accurate sources of information.

However I don't recall Brawl(misnamed Devastator) ever talking in the Transformers movie, UNLESS you're referring to the Decepticon roll call scene, or if you're referring to the Transformers Movie comicbook. Will consult the Transformers Wiki in an attempt to clarify that.

As far as the R8 is concerned, I did figure that was POSSIBLY the car model, but knowing Micheal Bay's flub with Brawl's name in Transformers 1, and his VERY LIBERAL envisioning of the Transformers mythos, you can't always be sure.

I know this is wishful thinking, but I wonder what that Decepticon Audi R8's name is - we won't know until closer to the release of the film.

Also, lets not forget all of the special features and what the writers talked about in the previous film. They mentioned that all of the autobots took on human vehicles and all of the decepticons took on military or authoritarian vehicles. The R8 is going to be an autobot for sure, i can't even begin to think of who, the twins are definitely up in the air, might be more of a creating characters part of the writing but its definitely going to be a great movie. were not even into a week of filming and all of these questions will be answered in the time to come

The Director of Photography for TF2:ROTF is Mitchell Amundsen and Unit Production Manager is Ian Bryce, but they differ on your renegade call sheet.

You should contact the Studio Executives - Ty Warren, Jonathan Eirich and/or Marc Haimes - for validity.

Does anyone know if there will be any filming tonight?? Please post a response soon. I live in the area of Bethlehem and would love to go check it out! Oh yeah, this is a movie I made that's like a transformers spoof! http://vimeo.com/1098015

i always thought there was going to be more in the movie i was thinking that all the seekers could appear.

ive said this on other forums about this, but its just too coincidental that we have such a perfect copy of a supposed call sheet with SO many details 2 days after the supposed date the shoot was going on....i think this is all part of the misinformation campaign by bay..id laugh if theyre actually shooting anything of importance in PA at all

Anonymous said...

I definitely think this is legit. Pre-production makes these sheets months in advance and its the plan of the film. I don't think its mis information because michael would not just give a call sheet out or make a fake one. Obviously there might be some action taken against this person for doing that but i dont expect any nore call sheets coming out.

for starters, do you really think that 1 can am spyder is big enough to be bumblebees girlfriend?

on the other hand, combining vehicles would be confusing and very annoying, so im sure theyll work that out.

then, completely off subject, who should play Arcee? i cant think of anyone, despite the fact that i have no idea what shes like.

Rickey Henderson said...

Look, Rickey would love to believe that a transforming ice cream truck is made up, but in reality, the writers probably slaved for a week to come up with that lousy idea...

Rickey, out.

The controller is the control center of your RC helicopter, it can send different signals to the helicopter telling the RC helicopter what to do next, maybe turning left or turning around. If you go to a large lawn far from super markets to fly your RC helicopter, do not forget to prepare more than 8 batteries, as the controller is not as saving as you think. Eight batteries can work for 2 or 3 hours. If you want to play with it for a longer time, maybe you have to pay more for the batteries. You can do a lot more on aGPS than just play games and movies. The new Streamlight Jr. Xenon Flashlights Reach combines the flexibility of our popular Stylus Reach penlights with the power and durability of our Streamlight Jr. Luxeon to give professionals such as firefighters, automotive and industrial technicians a high-performance, versatile tool, said Brad Penney, president of Streamlight.

"Arcee" the 3 motorbikes can all join together, they are Arcee, Chromia and Elita One
"The Twins" are Skids and Mudflap, they start as an icecream truck, after a fight split up and has seperate vehicle modes, a chev beats and chev tracks.
"Stinger" is Sideswipe and is the Chev concept car corvette stinger.
"Wheels" is Wheelie, a small car, form unknown.
"Jetfire" or Skyfire as he is also known is the SR-71 blackbird, he is re-ignited by "the splinter" that sam takes to the museum.
"Constructicon" in this scene it is Scrapper as seen in the trailer the big mining machine/wheel thing.
"Decepticon Audi R8" is the re-incarnated Barricade
"The splinter" is the remaining part of the cube taken from Megatron in the first one.
