Day two in theatres for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen and the domestic box office numbers continue to remain high with the movie taking in an estimated $27 million for Thursday according to Variety. Once you add this to Wednesday's $60.6 million the movie is at $87.6 million. Overseas, the movie is also doing well with a $59 million take in 58 territories for a Wednesday total of $119.6 so the worldwide total sits at $146.6 million.
Paramount probably hopes the movie will break The Dark Knight's five-day gross of $203.8 million, but may have to settle for passing Star Wars Episode III ($172.8M), Spider-Man 3 ($169.4M), or Spider-Man 2 ($152.4M). Thanks to Scalan15 for the heads-up. I was not able to find figures for overseas but there tends to be a lag on them for some reason.
Box Office Totals (in millions)
Date | US | Intl | Worldwide |
6/24/09 | $60.7 | $60.0 | $119.6 |
6/25/09 | $28.6 | $20.0 | $48.6 |
Totals | $89.3 | $80.0 | $169.3 |
I'm going to watch the movie a second time today! I am from Germany and this time i will see it with the original voice actors in english. The german ones just sucked -.-
ReplyDeleteHi there, there was a wrong sum of worldwide figures over there. It should be $146.6..TQ
ReplyDeletethere isn't a figure for international for Thursday?
ReplyDeletethat's not good number overall. a 505 drop in revenue from day 1 to day 2?
ReplyDeleteI can see thursdays # reaching 30m for actual or close to 30m. Either way 2 day total should imo 90m
ReplyDeleteReply to the 12:28PM comment, are you nuts? these numbers are amazing! Wednesday's numbers include the midnight showings, wait until you see Friday and Saturday's numbers, they will be back in the 50 million area
ReplyDeleteya'll can marvel at the first few days numbers, but this movie may very well stall after the weekend. You can argue that the critics comments don't mean anything, but they do have an effect on the numbers. Many people on this board can't don't understand that because they are uber-fanboys. The only thing that may keep this movie afloat is that there is no expected blockubuster until harry potter.
ReplyDeleteI would go see it again but I don't have a job. Looks like I will miss the IMAX version

ReplyDeleteI bet some of the critics will give negative comments on the new Harry Potter movie. And besides uber-fanboys,there are new people which are turning into TF fans after watching the movie.
^^
ReplyDeleteleoboi on TF2: agree... my friends have never watched the first movie but they liked the second so much that they became TransFans... they would like to see the First Novie...
Look at it this way this is the first and possiably th last time in film history we get to see a truck fight a tank, fighter plane and a helicopter.
ReplyDeleteOr this movie could do amazingly well. I think the second weekend will tell us all we need to know. The fact that a blockbuster not being released until Harry Potter is only a possibility. A lot of people on a lot of sites(not critics) actually love this movie. Proof 3000 of the 4000 people on this site said they loved it.
