Shockwave Cameo Plus IMAX Edition Review

Earlier this week Star War's R2D2 was found in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen and now another appearance has been found. Site reader Jason reported that Shockwave could be found in the movie and now thanks to David here is the photographic proof. The image was part of a worth reading review at High Def Disc News of the Wal-Mart's Big Screen Blu-ray Edition of the movie that breaks down all the features and might help in deciding what edition to buy.

The image is from the Devastator sequence when he is trying to suck the Twins up as they hang onto a pipe. Shockwave is on the front page photo below the headline "-ERIOUS ROBOT SPOTTED". Most Transfans would prefer he have more than a cameo appearance (always TF3) but still this nod to Generation One by the folks at ILM (as I pretty confident that is a CGI newspaper not a set prop) is appreciated.

I wonder what other goodies ILM have hidden in this movie. Thanks to David for the link and image.

Some were armed military forces aircraft probably from different branches...Starscream was the one with "tattoos" all over him of course. :P

  5. ILM rocks. I love that they take the time to put in the little easter egg nuggets.

It might be harder to spot on the DVD as opposed to the Blu-Ray because of the resolution.

"Has anybody figured out the ALLSpark Experiment on the BLU-RAY dvd that is supposed to unlock the future of the Transformers Movies...cause it's frustrating"

The Allspark Experiment apparently unlocks a video interview from Bay. He apparently reveals the following:

"Anyway, for the most part the video is just comprised of Michael speculating about TF3 instead of offering anything solid. Admittedly, it's too early in the game for him to make any on-camera commitments. However, he makes an intriguing comment about the sequel going "sideways" instead of "bigger", and he also drops a clue about the third film going more "undercover" than its predecessors.

And yes, Unicron IS alluded to in the video. But it could just as easily be another one of Michael's attempts to screw with our heads. Besides, Unicron would seem like anathema to the "sideways-not-bigger" approach Michael hinted at"

This reveals several things. According to Michael Bay.com Forums the charecters he alludes to are:

    Prowl or Wheeljack
    Sideways
Unicron (Not sure if he is really thinking of this charecter)

Also fan rumors on TF3 show that some fans think Bay will introduce Sideways as a servant of Unicron who Unicron controlls to manipulate the Autobots and Decepticons. They also believe the Star Saber may hold the key to destroying Unicron in the third film.

  10. why didn't they put out a full 16/9 ratio DVD. This is the let down from a box office hit to fans that was waiting for this movie on blue ray and dvd.. You get a one star for this screw up

  11. If they can find a "realistic" way to write in Unicron, ok ... but I really doubt they will even try.

The idea of having the movie going sideways most likely means that instead of having HUGE battles with HUGE Transformers, like the powerful Fallen, maybe for TF3 Bay plans to have the movie focus again on the battle between Optimus and Megatron. Kinda going back to the roots.

If that's true, then that would be great. The cartoons basically delt with the struggle between Megs and Prime anyway, and things like Unicron and Galvatron all came later in the story.

  12. you could also see Bonecrusher shooting at the motorcycles in the last battle

  13. Did anyone catch the Josh Duhammel comedy spoof easter egg?

Load in the Special Features second disc.
    Select The Human Factor
    Scroll down to Domestic Destruction
Toggle to the right and see the Decepticon logo show up!
Click on that and watch the clip!

It's basically a clip of Michael Bay telling Josh that he's got six cameras on him and he better not screw up this one big shot.

  15. Im pretty sure that Bay will use Shockwave in the third movie because the paper says, "Mysteriuos Robot Spotted". If he was somewhere on earth offscrean during the movie,i think he will most likely make his appearence in TF3.

  16. Ok, let's not get out of hand, again. Remember what happened last time we all started speculating on what might and might not be in the movie? It would be cool if Shockwave was in the next movie, and if Soundwave came to Earth and all that good stuff, but in the end we'll just have to wait and see.

What I'm more interested in right now is what the next script will be. Bay's statement about moving "sideways" with the movie might mean that they're not going to try to top the effects of TF2 (ie: large Transformers & a BUNCH of Transformers) but rather focus more closely on the core Transformers and develop a deeper story regarding them. That, in my opinion, would be fantastic. But again, it's a waiting game now.

If Sideways hadn't been skewered by Sideswipe in ROTF, I might put more stock in this. Then again, we've had two different characters called Devastator in the movies, so I guess anything is possible.

Personally, I wouldn't want to see a plethora of new robots in TF3. Prowl and Wheeljack - and maybe Hound - on the Autobot side; Shockwave, Thundercracker, Skywarp - and maybe Blitzwing - for the Decepticons. I also wouldn't mind if they were able to bring the Constructicons back somehow.

    Happy speculating everyone!
