TF3 Detroit: Transformers at Central Station

J1000 returns with more pictures and video of Transformers 3 production in Detroit. Today brought cast and crew, along with basically all of the Autobot Transformers vehicles including the Wreckers, Twins, Ironhide, Prime (with trailer), etc to Michigan Central Station. At same time the crew was putting the finishing touches on the Clifford and Woodward faked store front set while adding the huge Transformers jet thingy prop from last week. J1000's report, pictures and 9 videos below speak for themselves.
Things are full speed ahead in Detroit now! They were filming at Michigan Central Station most of the day, followed by a quick trip over to the Packard Plant in the late evening for some other shots. The downtown sets should be shooting tomorrow; the Deli/Liquor store they've been setting up at Clifford and Woodward now has the Transformer Jet prop assembled in front of it; they were putting it together around lunch time (the engines were still at Packard at that point), and had it assembled when I came back by around 5PM. At Central Station, they were filming Shia, and I think Duhamel and Tyrese and possibly Hardcore Eddie, as well.

The Wreckers were being filmed racing across the front of the Station, while Ratchet was positioned at the left side door, and tires could be heard squealing inside the station. They were shooting closeups of the NEST squad and Shia on the right side of the station. After they wrapped at Central for the day, I heard a crew member's radio say they had to rush over to Packard; I got some great HD video shots of them leaving, and then arriving at Packard. I caught a glimpse (and pic) of a second Optimus cab inside the gates (I've seen doubles of the other cars, but not Optimus yet). As they were filming at Packard, there were a few small explosions. Tyrese's Chevelle drove by, and a bit later, Ironhide and the Twins finally arrived on a car hauler! Exciting day here in Detroit! Stay Tuned!

  1. It's good to see the Autobot team together. There's alot of autobots, including Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Ironhide, Ratchet, Sideswipe, red Ferrari, blue Mercedes, firetruck, The Wreckers, Skids, Mudflap, Wheelie(been confirmed and silverbolt(confirmed. There's 15 Autobots for the moment. Chromia and Elita 1 has not been mentioned. Jolt is not comming back. What about the Decepticons? We all know there's 4 decepticons confirmed, including Megatron, Shockwave, Starscream and Soundwave. I have a feeling that Bay lied again, He told there wasn't gonna be so many robots in the third movie, And i have a feeling that there's gonna be more than 20 decepticons. Decepticons are always showing up on the last product and in the cinemas. Very good quality on the videos, Thanks!

  2. where are the decepticons ??? all videos and pictures are just from the autobots that's really weird for my understanding a very good part of the movie will take outside this world space and hopefully cybertron witch really will good to see how Shockwave toke over cybertron. By the way A.G. your comment sounds very gay !

  3. Gay as in happy of course.

    Cool short movies.

Decepticons are all flyers, all CGI I guess.

  4. I still stand by my beleif that the Wreckers are either decepticons or humans against the Autobots. Youtube is blocked here at my office, so I can't view the videos, but every other video I've seen posted with the Wreckers in it has been either them solo or being chased by the autobots. Short of the name, I see no reason to assume they are good guys.

  5. To Anonymous 8:03 AM, Everyone has the right to post their opinion! You can't go around and call people bad names, and think there gonna give you respect! No one is going to give you respect the way you treat others! Calling people bad names won't make you tougher! Youre gonna end up on a street, poor with no food or money, Because people will not hire you with that attitude! Let me speak clear, YOURE A PATHETIC IMATURE SHIT!

    Btw cool videos.

  6. Oh EPIC!! Can I just say (again) how much I love this blog?

But I will mention that J1000, as awesome as his pics are, they're TINY. Unless he's carrying around an 0.8 megapixel camera, it'd be nice to see em a little larger...

  7. Actually, I'm shooting these with an 8MP cam; I've just re-sized them before submitting them. I can make the future ones a little bigger.

Thanks to everyone for the compliments on the videos and what not

    J1000,
We all are are so thankful for your pics and vids, just awesome man!!!
I don't watch most of the vids, cause I wanna be surprised when I see the movie, but the pics are awesome!
Also, very nice to see your son is a Transformers fan as well!
Nice to hear that you saw a second cab of Prime. And awesome to see The Wreckers, or whoever they ar going to be, they're just awesome!!! Too bad there's nowhere a Autobot or Decepticon insignia to be found on them!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but did I hear a supercharger or a turbocharger on the last GMC truck behind Ratchet that drove by??

Keep up the good work J1000!!!

Greetz from Martinus Prime from The Netherlands.

  11. Megatron: Cybertronian Vehicle
    Starscream: Jet alt mode
    Shockwave: Cybertronian alt mode
Soundwave: Unknown alt mode (Other than satellite)

All these alt modes have to be in CGI, they wouldnt allow low flying Jets near buildings like that so if Starscream is in this scene he will be fully CGI. As for the other Decepticons. All the protoforms will probably not take an alt mode, meanwhile megs, shockwave and soundwave will all probably have a CGI alt mode.

The lack of any heads on poles for this scene seem to suggest no human-robot interaction (Other than with that giant "jet thingy") so its probably just a quick battle scene.

  13. @ Rob none of the videos ever had them being chased by the Autobots they were all driving with them the whole time.

  14. Think it's about time I gave you a massive amount of credit for all this info, as well as the pictures and videos, J1000. You've put in a lot of effort and personal time to get us these shots. Keep up the good work!

  15. @ Anon 9/23/2010 6:55 PM- True, however they have always been in front of the autobots. Usually if chasing someone they are in front of you, unless they did the whole "hit the brakes and he'll fly right by us" thing. I'm not saying I'm 100% correct and part of me hopes that they are Autobots, but I'm just hoping that there aren't as many Cybertronian Alt modes for the main Decepticons in this one. My favorite bad guys in the past movies have been the ones that actually turn into something else and take you by suprise. How awesome was it when Barricade transformed for the first time in Transformers 1, I still get chills when seeing that.

  16. @Rob...They are in front because they have the exposed guns...so if your friends had the weapon and you are driving, lets say, towards the enemy..I think you'll want the guns in front...If they were being chased..I think it would have looked more "chasy" (boxes being flipped, one taking another route etc etc) and as they were driving, the three "wreckers" are always together----three robots being chased-- I think they'll split up..
