The first teaser trailer for Transformers: Dark of the Moon is now live. Links below to MB.com, Apple Trailers and YouTube. Also, as you can see to the left, the actual official teaser poster for Transformers 3. Not really sure what is going on in that regard as the Prime poster is official in some capacity (someone with access to the Prime model to create it) and Hasbro is using it. For my purposes I consider one the Hasbro Teaser Poster and the other the Paramount teaser poster.
The leaked description is accurate, here is my summary.
Begins with words of July 20th, 1969 (date of the moon landing)
Apollo 11 traveling to and orbiting the moon.
Cut to words: "A Generation's Greatest Achievement"
Archival footage of landing and saying "The Eagle has landed"
Cut to words: "Our Nation's Proudest Moment"
Re-creating walking on moon with "One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind."
Cut to words: "A Secret Hidden for 40 Years."
While Walter Cronkite reports that Apollo 11 is out of communications range on the far side of the moon, Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin are really investigating a crashed starship full of Transformers. Armstrong reports "the hull has been breached. Extensive damage. No signs of life or movement... You cannot believe what we are seeing. ...We are not alone after all...Cut to camera traveling across the moon surface, to and through the ship, into a Transformers face (with "mustache"), and continuing into his eye and insides that change to the Dark of the Moon logo followed by the release date of July 1st, 2011.
Based on the brief images of dead Transformers, I suspect this is the Ark as the faces showed an Autobot structure. We saw the Nemesis marooned elsewhere (Mars I think) in Revenge of the Fallen and it had to have been fighting something. Based on the face and the mustache, I suspect the Transformers at the end of the sequence is Alpha Trion, one of the original 13 Transformers and protector of Cybertron. ReplyDeleteThis trailer is PERFECT for the first film. That's the only problem I have with it. I watched it and I'm thinking, "This seems like it should be the trailer for the first movie!" Anyway, great teaser. The TF at the end is DEFINITELY Alpha Trion or Vector Prime, not the Einstein bot. The tone was great and seems a lot more serious than the slop-together mess ROTF. Can't wait to see more!

ReplyDeleteIt doesnt look like Alpha Trion to me, more like Rodimus Prime or Hotrod, however seeing as the colour scheme matches the firetruck it may be Sentinel Prime.

I know nothing in this trailer suggests it, but i feel this film should have Unicron in it. Its the final film, its bigger than the others and they might aswell pull out all the stops and throw in the Devil of the Transformers franchise.

ReplyDeleteyh i think thats it. Its mainly the plot from Transformers Armada with a few tweaks here and there. It seems that the Nemesis (In ROTF) and this ship (Probably the ark) battled and this ship ended up crashing on the moon.

This Transformers3 teaser it's like the first movie without any of the cast being listed.
The big question now is WHY ?
Why not revealing the cast on this teaser?
On the first movie it can be understood.. but why the teaser for the 3rd movie is not listing the cast like the teaser of the 2nd movie?

ReplyDeleteokokok.... Can't this ship be the ark, no matter how it got there? Like these guys are just in stasis lock. Bumblebee wakes up and goes to earth. Prime, ratchet, ironhide and jazz head down once bumblebee meets sam. The rest show up in ROTF however ways. And wheeljack/einstein bot(which bay just said in the press junket could make "new cool shit") pieces back the rest and they come down in DOTM. Only reason I say this is that the round head looks like a constructicon(maybe nemesis/ark battle that crashed it) and the slumped over bot in the chair would be prime i presume..

ReplyDeleteWhether its Vector, Sentinel, or Alpha Trion will be well debated until the full trailer comes out. My question is all three are autobots. Where is the autobot symbol on this particular transformer?
The prior two teaser trailers ended with the symbol of the two factions, first autobots and second with decipticons. This ended with no symbol....
Lastly, we do not know if the ship seen with the astronauts is connected to the one with the golden transformer. You'll notice that the two astronauts are seen heading back to the lunar module. Its not like they woke him up. Its possible we are seeing two different scenes put together here.
No ready to ditch the Unicron plot just yet....
Also, once the camera enters the eye of the golden transformer, it looks similar to the inside of Unicrons planet mode. Similar to the way he destroys planets from the G1 movie.....

Later, the Decepticons attack Alpha Trion's workshop in search of the Key to Vector Sigma. Successfully obtaining it, Megatron uses Vector Sigma to give life to his Stunticons as Trion leds the Autobots into the depths of Cybertron. At Prime's suggestion, several Cybertronian shuttle craft are rebuilt to resemble Earth jets, to be used as a new team combat the Stunticons. Without the key, Vector Sigma could not be activated, and so Alpha Trion sacrificed himself to activate Vector Sigma and give life to these jets - the Aerialbots. Trion merged with Vector Sigma, but also apparently coexisted both within the computer to inform Optimus of the key's destructive power on Earth.

ReplyDeleteI have to say that if NO ONE leaked any information about those big closed sets and pre-announcement CG footage (while it was in the making) from this teaser, then you can be sure we're going to see a LOT MORE amazing stuff come out for the movie itself far beyond what we've already seen being captured here. Well, everybody seems convinced it's Alpha Trion. As a fan primarily of the comics (and one who distances himself from 'fans' who know of nothing other than the G1 cartoon and the tiresomely over-referenced animated movie), I really couldn't care less if it is or not.
ReplyDeleteA couple of things to bear in mind; firstly, I've seen a couple of comments here stating "it must be X because he has colour scheme Y". Only a handful of characters in the movies so far have had colour schemes relevant to their G1 appearances, so that means absolutely nothing.
Secondly, is anybody under the illusion that whoever the character is, he's going to escape the concept of the random nameslap? They may have learned since the 2nd movie, but somehow I doubt it.
One thing I have to say... After over a decade, I finally stopped visiting Transformers message boards a year or two ago. I became bored to tears of people wanting characters and situations from the animated movie being dragged into the live action ones, which frankly shows a very limited and blinkered knowledge of Transformers. Unicron has been done to death, and it would be a mistake having him in the live action movies. In animated shows, where the Transformers actually are the main focus, it's just about doable, having a robot battling a planet-sized enemy (particularly with their cavalier approach to size and scale). However, these are live action films with a human cast; I doubt that even Bay would stretch things that much to send Shia into space to battle a planet. Dramatically, it's a no-go; Megatron baiting Sam is one thing, you just wouldn't be able to get the same thing with Unicron. Not to mention that the Fantastic Four sequel already had Galactus (of sorts).
Oh yeah, the trailer. Looks pretty damned good to me. So long as, tonally, the film itself is like it throughout (without Bay's *ahem* comedy), then we could be back on track with the franchise. Still early days, so we shall see...

ReplyDeleteCome on guys take a look at the caracters and watch G1 eps this movie is about G1 we know we have silverbolt and hopefully the aerial bots and this guy from the teaser looks more to alpha trion so what we have so far ? well the golden edge of cybertron the nemesis crash on one of saturn moons this ship crash in our moon witch tells us that long time ago before the cube got lost it was the civil war witch drag this to ships in battle and at the end both got fuck up and crash silverbolt maybe the one telling optimus about alpha trion and a possible bridge to come back in time and change everything that is just me but it looks like this movie was made for us G1 fans... ReplyDeleteI've been a fan for over 26 years, staying with the US and UK Marvel comics throughout their respective runs, adapted with the changes (though not blindly liking everything that was presented), not getting caught in the rut of the cartoon and animated movie (as much as I enjoyed both, there is far more to Transformers lore than either). I'm entitled to my opinion, and have the backbone to not hide behind anonymity. I was hoping for serious debate instead of name calling. Shame.

ReplyDeleteIf E. Kruger's natural dark side can balance the humor that Bay/Hasbro wants (and had with NO.1) then we cant sit back and enjoy. Hopefully get to know some robots better.
But surely, as some of you Anons have said, there w/could be a major continuity plot hole if this isn't the Ark reanimating and reassembling the Autobots we know from these films.
At the very least, there are so many secrets - how they clean up Section 7/Simmons not knowing or speaking about the Ark or Prime & co. - that you can lose track. Just big overlapping illogical loops here: "yeah we got this Megatron iced down and, yeah, this CUBE has powered all of our tech advances but we don't/won't watch over them Moon-based robots."
My eyes will roll if there are more stupid human beings (especially a clueless Sam) in DOTM. What the entire movie series seems to lack, and what the comics & TV shows always recognized, is a clear foundation & link from the past.
The movies keep making it up as they go along: CUBE coordinates on glasses, Hoover Dam lair, Seekers for Energon, a sun-killer in a pyramid (?!), Matrix of Leadership not found by Indiana Jones; now keeping this spacecraft (Ark?) hush-hush for 40 years...
I'd prefer a time-space, back-from-the-future mess than any more newly-made up "discoveries."

ReplyDeletefor those complaining about them not mentioning the ship on the moon, they never mentioned that rover getting crushed in the 1st movie either, or if they did, it wasn't a main point. they could very well have been hanging out on the moon for all those years.

As good as the trailer is and for me who cares if it doesn't fit the first two movies. I wouldn't care if this movie stood alone. If this is just a taste of what this movie is, I think I'm going to enjoy the main dish!

I want an entire track of just that music which I might have to get if they release it on CD...talk about dark and man, my heart starts beating to that track...this joint is TIIIIGHT!!

I know it makes no sense it's Optimus, bc Optimus comes from outer space in the 1st, but it has its "double horns" left and right of the head, Bumblebee doesn't have that. You're wrong, the announcement teaser from the 1st film IS IN the 1st film! At the pentagon they compare the sounds from that signal from that exact footage with the signal they just got when they breached on that military base and they show the picture from that Beagle message.

He was the one who "spacebridge'd" Sam & co. to Egypt, told them about the Matrix and how to find it, then sacrificed his spark to donate his parts to revive Prime to defeat the Fallen. Upon doing so he ended his own life.
My point ? Jetfire IS Skyfire, but because of trademarked character names Hasbro cannot use the name 'Skyfire' any longer. So you had what you wanted all along, just never knew it.

you all people are stupid you guys dont watch and pic things that are really good for a guess this is another decepticon ship take a look at the robots faces they have the decepticon look watch TF1 and TF2 concept art and you'll see it, now at the end the one you see is alpha trion and it looks like he's been capture, the only way to travel this long distance is open a space bridge and it seems that this one did that and crash on our moon while the other one the nemesis crash on saturns moon remenber the rumors it will be a flash back from the fallen witch tells us that he and the decepticons capture alpha trion cause maybe he was the only one who can bring to life more autobots.

ReplyDeleteI don´t think the yellow transformer is Unicron, first Michael Bay have stated numerous times that he didn't liked the idea of Unicron (much like the Dinobots). Also the transformer doesn't look evil enough to be Unicron, compare it to the design of Megatron, The Fallen or many of the Decepticons, all of them are designed to have and evil look to them.
The two main names mentioned here (Alpha Trion & Sentinel Prime) are reasonable candidates. Both characters stories have elements that can be related to what have happened in the previous two movies and that could require its presence. We know there is an important new character with the autobots (the fire truck), with Sentinel Prime rumored to be this truck. Also, I agree with Anon 8:30 PM in that he seems to be strapped.
Its (Alpha Trion or Vector Prime) both turn to a Cybertronian Jet.
ReplyDeleteWell, one of the first transformers. It cannot be. Seven Primes were much different than later generations. If it's true that only 7 of 13 were Primes, they were still created at same time, but not to have different appearance than Primes. Optimus was different, but only because he's like transformers from generationsafter the creation of 13.

ReplyDeleteThis ship is the Arc. (Nemesis is on one of Saturn's moons)
The transformer in the sand is Optimus Prime (in protoform)
The yellow transformer is Alpha Trion, in the exact same sense as the comic books made him out to be. He is a prime, and the only one other than the Fallen.
He was probably piloting the Arc (strapped in appearance) and it crashed (a la G1) into the moon (not from G1) setting everyone aboard into Stasis Lock (also G1). The bodies are all strewn around the ship because, well thats what happens when you crash. Your car his a wall and you aren't wearing a seat belt, you don't just go limp right in your seat. You splatter into the wall, thats just how it works. When the astronauts find there way onto the ship they probably stumble onto something that reboots one of them (big yellow guy) and he starts to re-activate the others there on the ship. something will probably happen where he has to give his spark to re-activate Optimus thus making Optimus the decendent of a Prime.
There's my back story, as I see it now. I'm still trying to think of just how NASA comes to forget all of this and how Sector 7 has no information on it.
Now that you've read that, go back and read the FIRST TWO WORDS OF THIS POST before you cut it down.
Disclaimer: I never really read the comic books, but I always thought of the first 13 as primes. I'm probably wrong on this, but too lazy to do the research, plus I need to get back to work.

NASA probably didn't forget any of it, they probably just archived it for you know, governmental top secret purposes, hiding it from the public eye. Key in the scenes where Optimus Prime and the Autobots are en route to NASA and the Space Shuttle in Florida KSC. I'm curious as to how that'll be played out. Maybe they'll hitch a ride to the moon or something.

ReplyDeleteOther thing about teasers is you dont know if the words that you hear go with the scene (or are in time with the visuals) you are watching. Or if the lines are used at all but for the teaser.
When I look at the robots they mostly look like drone robots to me. Even the one in the sand. The Alpha Trion looking one appears to be the only important robot in the treaser. Seems to have the the sholder pads (or may be wings), the V shape on forehead, beard, and resemblence to Optimus: looks like Alph Trion. May play it off to be his father (just an idea). Or could be random new bot. Don't think its the firetruck though.
Am I the only one seeing deceptions on this crashed ship?

ReplyDeleteI remember way back in 2008-2009 when this glitzy silver car was being loaded into a red transport trailer. The reflection of the red caught on the silver made it look streaky, albeit the grainy celphone image wasn't a very good one. It certainly left the fanbase frothing at the mouth for a wild goose chase on what Autobot it was.
Some dudes swore by hell and highwater it was Hot Rod just because it had the red reflection. Some dudes stammered it would be Mirage or Blurr. Some claimed that the Almighty Lord told them it was Wheeljack, Skids, or Smokescreen. Even some just yelled like little weeny boys and punched their fists on the tables with Jazz! Jazz! Jazz!
It turned out to be Sideswipe. And he was pretty damn cool.
There are some fans who claim the faces are way too human. I dunno about you, but faces with moving sharp edges and silvery bits and pieces there aren't exactly human-looking to me. Unless you're colorblind or something. Or maybe into Sorayama's robot gal art.
And then there a few goofballs who claim the movie will suck because it doesn't have Megan Freakin' Fox. She's hot, she's pretty, OK, we GET IT. Hello? It's 2010, time to move on, man! Time to move on! Oh wait, she did wear skinny hot leggings once. I have a thing for that. Mmmmmmmm... and now Rosie is wearing these REALLY HOT skinny jeans. Now I dunno about the rest of you GUYS, but if you can't SEE that and get some kind of rock hard on, then SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH YOU. Unless you're gay or a kid whose hormones haven't fully matured yet and that's OKAY, but you know what I mean, man!
And Unicron? UNICRON??? A robot the size of a PLANET? How in the heck did that get in there? I'm thinking a lot of you guys haven't even SEEN the first two movies more than once.

ReplyDeleteJust a note, the robot in the trailer isn't just not finished CGI wise, it is also not the final model. As in the new model will look more like a BayFormer, and less human/g1. They didnt have time to get the new one up to a decent standard.
ReplyDeleteThey're just using this one for the time being because it looks good enough for a teaser and it resembles alpha trion, if they used a more exosceleton look like most of the other robots none of the fan boys would be able to get an idea of who it was supposed to be.
i have to point out one thing... NASA says, "you have 21 minutes" (or something like that) i know its just a teaser but it seems as though they explored for like 5-10 minutes. So maybe the robots did hitch a ride with NASA... and the first half of the movie will be a prequal (sorry if i spelled anything wrong)

ReplyDeleteTime is irrelevant in Hollywood. "21 minutes" can be a "3 hour tour" inside an alien spaceship. Audiences really don't care because it's all about getting the plot moving along and kids just wanna see the robots. Ask kids about time. They don't give a darn. Ask kids about money. They'll look at you funny like something's wrong with your nose. I think something's wrong with my nose all the time.

When astonauts were getting into the Ark there was no objects on the background, then later in the scene taken from the same angle as moon rover was seen, Earth can be seen in spite of astonauts were on the dark side of the moon.
What about the Pretenders? Aren't they "human" already? ROTF had Alice who was a Pretender. And man, she had a HOT human robot ass. Tail. Thing.

They are not really on the dark side of the moon. In the teaser, you see NASA officials cutting the transmission feed to news agencies thus simulating that the astronauts are on the dark side of the moon.

they aren't the same exact bits as the engines shown on the ship in the trailer but the design is consistant with the 'teeth' coming out over the 'nozzels' so as Martinus said it's a bit off of it, with some more of it CGI'd
