As a long time CEC customer, the movie’s acclaimed Director/Producer, Michael Bay, contacted Claus Ettensberger at CEC to help design the newest Autobot for the upcoming action thriller. With a base Mercedes E550 as the platform, CEC went to work transforming two identical sedans into Decepticon killers with style.
The conversion included new custom blue paint, which was specifically chosen by Michael Bay to make the character stand out. The CEC enhancements incorporated a custom aerodynamic kit with a front spoiler, side skirts, rear apron, trunk spoiler, fenders, suspension and exhaust system. The stock wheels were replaced with CEC C725 forged wheels (20x8.5” front, 20x10” rear) and Michelin PS2 tires (245/30R20 front, 285/30R20).

How "Q" Was Made
EuroTuner has posted an interesting article that gets into the details on Transformers: Dark of the Moon's Mercedes-Benz E550 was made. The Benz is the alt mode of Q (like 007) to represent his role with the Autobots. I nicknamed him "Einstein" because of his appearance. The details below, more pictures of Q can be found at EuroTuner or mirrored at TFW2005. Thanks to Sahara for the link.

Wheeljack
ReplyDeleteThere's Wheeljack in Foundation issue 1 and it's not the Einstein-bot.
ReplyDeleteI call, or better said, we all call Wheeljack, it has to be! Bc what kind of lame-ass name is Q or Einstein?
ReplyDeleteI also think Bay wants to stay closer to G1 this time, to please the biggest fans.
They wouldn't use Q or Einstein that wold be extra money they would have to pay to use those names...I don't know how it works but I doubt you can name your transformer after a character in 007 without the Bond film makers wanting some type of money..
ReplyDeletewell kinda means Jolt the volt isn't coming back
ReplyDeletesad...i actually liked him
So E is an Autobot who are the 2 Decepticons?
ReplyDelete@Neo_3:
ReplyDeleteIf you refer to "two identical sedans", I think they mean 2 identical Mercs as killers of Decepticons, 1 for stunt purposes wich could be afford to wreck in a stunt and one for normal driving/racing shots.
Can we please stop calling him "Q" PLEASE? Nelson said it was a random letter he picked for the photo on his flickr, Its annoying as hell to call him "Q" and read it.
ReplyDeleteRe: Ok has the bot list got crazy or what!
ReplyDeleteIIRC, the blue Mercedes and the Einstein-looking bot are the same.
4 Stupid notes irrelevant as fuck
ReplyDeleteI'm good with the mercedes being Wheeljack, but I sure hope they've fixed his head sculpt. That earlier version we saw was terrible. If that's what Wheeljack is going to look like in the movie, I'd rather it be a bot named "Q" instead.
ReplyDeleteWheeljack is too cool of a character to screw up like that. He's got such a unique face, they should really try to carry it through into the CGI model for the movie.
They did a great job with him in Transformers Prime. Here's hoping for the best.
I sure hope it's not a G1 character so Bay can please his biggest fans by having less G1 there has been too much in the previous films already aside from Devastator being actually cool in the movies.
ReplyDeletenot so much custom work..its straight off shelves Brabus kiyt
ReplyDeleteThere's a chance that bot called *Brains' who escaped from the Decepticons will become him. That makes connection for Wheelie. Both have been worked with the Decepticons.
ReplyDeletethe blue benz is Wheeljack and wheelie's new friend "Brains" will be a laptop guys.
ReplyDeleteMercedes cannot be Wheeljack. Wheeljack that appeared in Foundation issue 1 is too different. How many times it has to be said?!
ReplyDeleteyep that stinks.
ReplyDeleteI hope the Ferrari 458 Italia is name is ciffjumper.

ReplyDeleteAre u kidding me?? Too much G1 already?? G1 is the foundation of TF, if there was no G1, there wouldn't be TF at all! How can you people be against G1 characters???? That's like saying: I don't like Optimus Prime. While Optimus Prime is the most iconic charachter of all TF!
