Bay: Not Decided on Transformers 4

Michael Bay has stopped by his Shoot for the Edit forums to provide an update on the recent rumor that he was on the verge of signing on for Transformers 4. As expected, the status quo has not changed. He writes:
Right now I'm not decided on Transformers 4
Studio's are passing rumors but I'm not sure what I'm doing? I know I'm going to do Pain and Gain early spring but that's it for right now. I'm leaving all my options on the table. I've got several Studio meetings in the next two weeks.
He didn't address the nonsense about his next film Pain and Gain being used as leverage to force him to sign on to Transformers 4 but Transformers 4 remains in limbo until Michael Bay makes a directing decision. The amount of money Bay stands to gain (probably $100+ million) would be very hard to turn down. I am guessing he will see how Pain and Gains goes and if it recharges his batteries for another two years of blockbuster prep after living the Transformers universe for about six straight years. The question is will Paramount and Hasbro wait for him to decide or try to force a decision by year's end. In the end I think that if Bay signs on Transformers 4 will be a continuation of the current movie universe. If he passes, the franchise will be rebooted.

  4. I wouldn't mind a reboot and let someone else take over. I like Bay but his attitude has taken away some of my childhood dreams. C'mon, Q when it should have been WheelJack and Mirage instead we get a Ferrari with another odd name. Just stick to the basics and stop with adding all this silly kiddie nonsense. I don't mind a few laughs here and there but damn, Bay just overdoes it! Oh yeah Q's head design was stupid! Shockwave, nice and so was some of the others.

  6. Nice to see everyone on the same page just wanting a decent movie that respects the mythology allready built in the transformer universe.I can understand the ferrari being called "Dino", but "Q" was worse then the twins in charecter and design.

  7. They should have called the ferrari Dino from the beginning and Que too. It's cool to have new characters

  8. agreed. if you going with the original (not thats there anything wrong with it of course) it might become day-sha-voo! Different is good (sometimes) in truth... i like Michael Bay's Transformers and the voice actors (Optimus-heroic/Megatron-Badass) different story line... sure why not? I'm game! Again, i dont care about the director! I want a movie!!!
    My Opinion

  9. Funny, no one's complaining about the Wreckers? And they were all pretty kickass!

Agreed Lionboogy, The Wreckers were kick-ass! The only real problem I had, was that they weren't introduced, they were already on earth. I wanted to see how they got their altmodes.
Smaller problem I had, I thought Leadfoot was to short en big(fat), he looked like short fat wobbling redneck. And they should have called one Wrecker Wreck-Gar.

  12. The status quo hasn't changed? He went from denying his involvement with the film to saying he's undecided. I would say that's a change (albeit not a big change)

  13. i will actually cry if mb comes back

  14. Martinus: I have to agree with you. I imagined an intro action scene where the Wreckers crashed to Earth smack dab in the middle of a NASCAR race. The energy and American flag-waving passion of that race captured in MB's eye; that woulda been cinema magic. And then the robots would quickly scan the appropriate growling cars as they loudly whiz by and then exit the scene much to the confusion of numerous pedestrians at the event.

  15. I will actually jump for joy and click my heels if Bay comes back.

  16. I wouldn't mind if Bay came back for two reasons: 1) The way the transformers look now is etched in my brain. I cannot imagine Optimus Prime looking different from the way he looks now. 2) Is there any guarantee that a new director will keep with the voice actors from Bay's films? To not use Peter Cullen for Optimus' voice is a capital sin in my book. Cullen is Optimus. If a new director takes over, I want a guarantee he won't mess with the voice actors, otherwise I'll wait until it comes out on dvd and I'll simply rent it.

  17. where does Bay take the film. he failed to introduce more lead autobots like Ultra magnus and Hott rodd. im tired of it being about just Prime and Bee. Shia goes from dork to stuntman in all 3 films. its always the same clan of autobots vs loads of decepticons. who else thinks that the Autobots are semi prisoners of NEST and the Govt? also he did say those who die are gone for good did he not?? megatron is dead, no cybertron, no starscream, no shockwave, no soundwave, no laser beek(thank gawd)who stole ALL the decepticon screen time. all the human/decepticon conspiracy has been surfaced and removed. so with all known threats gone, what do the autobots do?? do they join the avengers to fight loki and the rainbow bridge gang. in the meantime, patrick dempsey sneaks and removes Megatrons SIM card and Runs shockwaves body through the Hyundai assembly line to have the hip bone connected to the tail bone, and slips Megatrons SIM card in to shockwaves head and then ...ALL HAIL GALVATRON!!! (Cannon powered by same 2.0 turbo engine found in hyundai genesis) just sayin.. but i still want a 4th film... to make it right.

  18. Speilberg directing would be like a screen full of sissy alien turds. I vote no for Speilberg. No for Bay. A reboot?...there is no need to start over from the beginning, continue the story. Leave the main characters from the first 3 out. I've had enough of Sam's bad punchlines. Who should they bring in to direct?...I don't know. I don't write the pay checks so it's not up to me. I would like to see someone with a fresh idea/vision. I do know this, Speilberg would not be good! Sure he made some good movies, but I just invision him turning transformers into Jurassic Park, War of the Worlds or worse yet Jurassic Park 3!! If they have Speilberg direct, they should get Harrison Ford and George Lucas to help out. They could call it Transformer: As Bad As A Crystal Skull Clone Menaced By Jurassic Park.

  19. From atrociously artificial dialogue to an inability to even have the scenes match up (like where Sam and Carly are behind a beam and in reaction to the approaching robot they both jump out to the side--only to be standing perfectly still in the next frame), the third movie reeked. It was just horrible.

What stunned me most about 3 was Megan Fox. I honestly never ever ... ever thought I would miss her as an actress. Carly achieved it though, and achieved it with ease.

What saved this movie and made it a financial success was the CGI work. Just how much more it could have sold if the other parts were up to scratch is a mystery Michael Bay will never provide the answer to.

  20. LET THE DECEPTICONS WIN 4 A MINUTE..........THEIR RACE IS BEING DESTROYED AND ATLEAST MEGATRON HAD THE BRAINS TO TRY 2 REBUID HIS HOME CYBERTRON. AND IN T3 SHOCKWAVE HAD A MUCH SMALLER ROLE........BRING HIM BACK FOR T4
    IN MY OPINION i.e.,
