Transformers 4 To Have New Designs, Cast

In an interview with Hero Complex to promote the opening of Transformers: The Ride, Michael Bay revealed some of his intentions for Transformers 4.
The director ...says that the fourth film will include some redesign of the robots and an entirely new cast. He also said it will be his last and set the franchise up “for the next guy.”
This really isn't new "news" as aligns with reports for months that the film would act as a sort of reboot but how extensive remains unclear. Producers have said the intent would be a new Transformer and human cast but it could also be a new cast telling a story within the existing TF Bay-verse established by the first three movies. After all, there could have been more then one NEST team hunting Decepticons. It will probably be at least a year before the details are ironed out but Bay probably has near carte blanche to do whatever he likes including a fifth film if he changes his mind like he did when signed on to direct a fourth Transformer film. After all, who would really want to turn down around $100 million per film once include back end profits and merchandise sales. If interesting in reading his comments and The Ride, click here.

  1. If Bumblebee is not included in the fourth film, I am going to be heartbroken.

  2. I want Bumblebee to be cut, he's dire. And he's over saturationg the toy shelves. Replace him with one of the other G1 Mini Vehicles. Pipes, perhaps?

  3. I wonder why Bay loves telling everyone this is his last one, it gets to be stupid. He always says this in every interview, this is my last this is my last. Go on get dammit, sick of hearing it over and over and over, its like he really doesn't want to do it anymore so why does he stay on, there's only one reason pure greed and thats not the kind of director that should be doing these movies anymore. I'm sick of the guy and his bullshit, Iwant someone who wants to do these movies and obviously he's done with it, its kind of depressing hearing this bullshit from this guy, I dont hate Bay but he should of hit the road and let someone else take over, but thats just my opinion.

  4. A reboot sounds good. But NOT with Michael Bay involved. Get somebody who is actually legitimately interested in the franchise for the story and the characters. Not somebody who at first thought the idea of Transformers was stupid when first approached like Michael Bay did with the first film. But then he saw how much money he'd be getting and he instantly jumped on board.

  5. I kind of have to agree. Bay has said in, quiet a few interviews, that he wants to be done with Transformers. If he doesnt want to do it but, gets stuck doing it because of Paramount (or something else) I dont think that would make for a good movie! Might just be something he threw together and gives to us (not cool, bro) Pass the torch to someone else!
    *my opinon*

  9. Im super excited for Transformers 4. And I don't see why people complain about these movies. I mean everytime i hear someone, whether its a friend or just comments i see on the internet about it, is that tons of people say Michael sucks because all he does is do explosions and action for these movies. But dont people know that the reason that we go see these movies is because of the robots, and pretty much every single one of the action scenes involves these amazing robots, so why do people hate when the robots are the action? Anyhow i kinda understand maybe people dont like the stories that are written for these films, but i myself love all 3 of them. I think Michael made the best movie trilogy ever! And im excited to see what he does for the 4th.

  11. I approve of the redesign and I hope bumblebee has his voice because he is a great character. Also, just a side note, there needs to be a Transformer movie with just Robots, we do not really need a human cast for a Transformers movie. Just my opinion.

  12. I hope it's not a reboot, but like they say a story within the same continuity.Who wants the movie-continuity to be discarded by another one?!

  13. @Spark5006/06/2012 10:34 PM: and that's exactly what Transformers3 was/is. Michael Bay didn't want to direct the movie but just wanted a big fat check. The movie is his worst movie to date, a really sloppy work. Transformers4 is going to be even worse. With the first two Transformers movies Michael Bay was motivated into pushing its limits and delivering better movies, now that's no more. He just wants the money and doesn't care. As long as tons of people will keep paying for bad products like they proved with Transformers3 financial success even thanks to inflated 3D ticket price, Michael Bay will keep delivering bad movies and won't care about doing anything better and good like he did with the first two Transformers movies.

  14. I actually had no problem with the TF Trilogy. I just think Bay should step aside if he doesnt want to do it. I've said it before and I'll say it again... A prequal! An actual TRANSFORMERS (maybe all robots) movie... But, then again, might not do so well in box-office...

  15. Yea. Everyone sees the Transformers films because of the robots and how they battle it in our modern day cities, and i think thats badass. I probably wont see a TF movie if its about them in space or whatever. I love Michaels transformers trilogy so much. And i watch them because of the transformers themselves, and i love how their in our nowadays society. And the fights they get into in our streets and towns are so cool. Like i said, no one will probably see a movie about them in space before they came to earth, cause lets face it, its awesome watching the autobots and decpticons fight on earth.

    1. Your right. And i love watching these films because i love the visual effects and the action, all the action involves the robots so i don't see why people complain about explosions when the robots are in almost every action sequence. Michael Bay is a good director and he is always on set early working his but off day in and day out to make the best movie he can. I can't wait for Transformers 4!!!

I also agree with you guys. Another thing that's great about the movies taking place on earth, is that most of the bots transform into our welknown earth vehicles. We want to see sportscars, muscle cars and big trucks racing and transforming on highways and fighter jets transforming mid-air through streets and tall buildings.
If it takes place in space/on Cybertron, they don't need earth alt modes anymore. They would be futuristic Cybertronian vehicles again. That meakes it less interesting to see imo. I always liked the G1 cartoon more, when the TF were on earth instead of on Cybertron.

I don't get all these people who complain about the movies and about Bay. Everytime the same complaits, but everytime they do go and see Bay's movie's. Who is kidding who?

Bay's blu-ray trilogy is the trilogy I watch the most of my collection and I'm excited to see the next!

    3. Well if it's a prequel it might take place on space and that means Cybertronian modes and I don't believe that it will be something like that cause from what I've heard all this CGI is costing too much time and money for them.I only hope that it is not a complete new continuity but the same one we all know from Bay's Transformers movies.

    4. Bay's movies are...entertaining, but certainly he could improve on his fight choreography (too hard to follow with all those quick cuts) and put more emphasis on the transformers, not the humans. The comics and the cartoons all have robots as the main characters and humans as supporting characters. That's all I am asking Bay, please. I don't care that you changed the look of the transformers or you out in so many sex jokes

  16. Please put new bots with new cars like an Lamborghini Aventador, Ferrari F12 berlinetta, a Koenigsegg Agera or a Veyron. That would be great!!!

  17. I'm not complaining I'm glad the Trans universe is alive and well and beleive me it will live on way past the Bayverse and there is 25 years of stories, bots and mytholigy and I'm exited about Trans 4 and at the same time ready to say goodby to Bay, if he ever really leaves he loves playing these games and I'm pretty sick of it as well. If you really dont want to do it then dont, let some one else take over, move on already.

    1. I remember him! He got no screen time in ROTF! one scene if that!

      Delete
    2. The problem with Jolt was that he looked like such a fascinating character, but no time to be developed. They didn't even show him in a fight. They had the 3D model made for him, so why not pop him into a few desert fight scenes?

  19. I wonder if they're going to pull a stunt like the original G1 movie, where they basically kill off every other character and re-establish new ones.

  20. Its got to be about the Transformers characters first and not a boy and his car, we seen enough of that. Not that I didn't like the Sam Witwicky story but I would like to see a true story about the Transformers themselves I really hope thats where he goes with T4.

ROTF was a flaming pile of shit.
You're not a transformers fan or even a Bayformers fan, you're just a Mikaela (Megan Fox) groupie. You're the guy who started whining about how Transformers 3 was going to suck the day she quit/got fired. You have been cutting and posting the same lame comments regardless of the posted topic ever since.
Did you even see Dark of the Moon? I bet not. You were probably one of the 19 people on the boycott Transfotrmers 3 w/out Megan Fox Facebook page.

    1. I would watch ROTF for scenes like the forest fight. Yeah, there were quite a few mistakes, but that doesn't mean that I still can't like it. And by the way, I HATE Megan Fox and her toe-thumb acting. Rosie wasn't much better.

  22. I disagree I bet you he watches it all the time, I think he loves it he's so obsessed over it and you know he loves Rosie's cute little fish lips.

  23. Have Optimus Prime do a cameo and let the new cast of autobots take over. Im assuming it will be either Hot Rod/Rodimus or Ultra Magnus. It would be awesome to see the cybertron defense team or the wreckers

    1. I hope that they'd show the Wreckers for how they were SUPPOSED to be. I didn't really like how they depicted them in DOTM. Aerialbots would be awesome in my opinion.

  24. Shouldn't tf4 be in pre-production now? Bay finished pain and gain a month ago.
