ET On Transformers: Age of Extinction Set Reveals TF Character Name

Entertainment Tonight has posted a report from the Detroit set of Transformers: Age of Extinction when the crew was filming on the "China set" built in the middle of Detroit, Michigan in first week of August (vids: here, here and here). The video has quick comments from Mark Wahlberg, Jack Reynor, and Nicola Peltz (inexplicably asked her relationship status) with cameo from Michael Bay. The reporter, while sitting in the Pagani Huayra, (SPOILER) referred to it as Stinger which is a name that has popped up as a potential character name. I wouldn't call this official confirmation but darn close as I doubt the host (reporter is too strong a word) knows anything about Transformers except what is fed to her by the producer speaking in her earpiece.

Update: Correction to title, removed the reference to "Autobot". As pointed out in the comments, the faction remains unconfirmed. The toy list references "Stinger" of various classes but saw no faction reference but the vehicle has been mostly hanging with known Autobot vehicles during filming.

  1. Wonder why so many anonymous people were claiming it to be rodimus when it is in fact a Decepticon. Guess this changes most of their theories.

    1. Ummm... Did you read the headline thoroughly sir? "Reveals AUTOBOTS character name." Seeing what we want to eh?

  2. How do you know the Pagan is a Decepticon?

    1. I'm not that same anonymous, but I can tell why: because the toyline report says so. "Decepticon Stinger"

  3. Oops, meant to say Pagani

  4. Stinger is just the production name. If Bay is keeping Bot names a secret, then this 'reporter' sure as heck isn't going to be told the actual super secret names. By the way, nowhere in that report did they mention allegiance.

  5. Remember when the Blue Mercedes in DOTM was code named Que? Everyone was like, thats just the code name, the real name is Wheeljack. Well guess what, it was Que all along. There is no doubt in my mind that the pagani is Stinger and Bay ruined another film.

    1. Relax jack and please stop saying Bay ruined another movie... It s pathetique cuz first you know nothing about TF 4 except OP, Bee and Hound... the rest is SPECULATIONS so stop crying and second, for all I know, without Bay they would not even be Transformers movies so give the guy a break... And who cares what name the Pagani has and his, its an awesome car anywayz and cant wait to see the robots mode...

    2. Give the guy a break!!?? He's been bringing in to many important autobot characters and decides to kill them off the film or make them disappear and it is important who the pagani is so we can know if he's an autobot and Decepticons sure he makes the movie's all epic and fool of explosions but he handles the characters how he wants them not how their ment to be so that's what kinda ruins it and the fact that all the TransFormers films revolve around the humans not the TransFormers which completely sucks.

  6. All this does is pretty much confirm the countless rumors and reports that I've read for the past few months. I've posted this before... as far as I'm concerned, the Pagani and the Argosy Truck are both Decepticons. The video that I saw that has the Pagani and Black DREDD SUV following the Argosy says it all. And TO BE HONEST... that's OK. I mean so far, all we have seen on set and talked about for the past few months are the AUTOBOTS (except for Lockdown, who we don't know is what yet?). We have a new Prime and B... Hound, the Dinobots and countless other BOTS who we are not sure of their modes and names yet. As far as I'm concerned, I like the Pagani being a Decepticon. That means that there is still a chance that the Argosy in Motormaster (and that means the STUNTICONS). Hopefully there are still two other movies to make, Bay has PLENTY of time to introduce Rodimus, Magnus and Company. And EASE off BAY people... Yes, he has made some mistakes... but the man puts everything he has into these movies and you can't say they are not entertaining, especially the last one. I for one feel AOE is going to blow our socks off!!!! I do have to admit though... not knowing what vehicle is what is killing me!

    1. Just an FYI... I am basing alot of what I say above on the "assumption" that the name STINGER is a CON name??? I'm basing that assumption on by what I've read you guys post on this site. If STINGER isn't a definite CON name, then all bets are out the window... even though my gut still tells me they are CONS.

    2. Totally agree bro. I used to be a Bay basher, but when I realized that the 80s cartoon now looks a bit cheesy and that if it wasn't for him stepping out in faith to produce these movies, we would just have our memories from the 80s. He has slipped up on a few things, but all in all, he has done a great job, fo' real! I agree with you too on the fact that A.O.E. will be epic! I mean, the Dinobots, the possibility of Motormaster and the Stunticons, Galvatron and Cyclonus, I mean there are countless ways this plot could go! So to the current Bay bashers out there, either like it or zip it and go watch Megs shrink to a gun and be used as a weapon by Shockwave! Just a little over seven months away til Bayhem!!!

    3. Agree! I a new style of Transformers. I mean, Beast Wars is very diffrent from G1, still people like it. Why does this has to be G1? And I really like the transformations!

I'm with tens on this one. Stinger is probably just the production name, why the heck would they give this reporter an official TF name, she doesn't even pronounces it right, maybe Bay is checking it out this way, if we the fans like the name and if it is not liked, he can still change the name.

Either way, I don't care as much as before, I like the name Stinger and it sounds like he could do soem serious damage.

ET always gets the (first) exclusive on blockbusters and if that exclusive is shown, you can bet the first official teaser isn't far away!!!!

    2. Martinus Prime11/21/2013 8:16 AM

She says StinGer, with a "guh", that's not how you pronounce it, you pronounce it with a "ng".

  8. Updated post as agreed with you all. The Pagaini's faction remains unconfirmed. While I suspect its an Autobot, there really isn't anything definitive to back it up.

  9. This is just my opinion but I said in the grimlock thread that I thought the pagani was a con. Now stinger is no way confirmed as a true name, but that it what they refer to it as on set and on the call sheet as well as the toy list just in case someone leaks info. On the toy list it did say decepticon stinger. Again name may be fake but no need to put decepticon in front of it unless that's what it will be. Now I do think the pagani will be the one who starts out good and goes bad or maybe bad and helps the bots in the end. That's just my thoughts

  10. Stinger was Sideswipes production name too before he was revealed to be sideswipe in ROTF.

    ReplyDelete
  11. This wasn't a big surprise. Because of toy listing, I was sure all this time that Stinger is Pagani. It's only a matter time when Lambo is revealed to be Lockdown and Frightliner as either Galvatron or Cyclonus.

    1. Google "Transformer Lockdown". Guess what, it's a C7 vette

    2. A lime green C7 vette

    3. That does not mean Corvette is Lockdown. And besides, we know It's not him and that Corvette is an Autobot.

  12. But how long does it take until we have any clue of Sonic's identity?!

  13. Ok maybe I'm reaching here but just hear me out. I just thought about it most of these decepticons and autobot teams are like the same compared in size right. What if there is an alternate reality where Prime, Bumblebee, and the rest of the team are evil and the autobots have to travel to an alternate reality for some specific reason and have to fight their evil counter parts. Argosy= Evil Prime Garbage Truck=Evil Hound oldschool Black camaro=Evil Bumblebee Lambo=Evil Drift and the white and orange super cars are the Evil counterparts to the Pagani and Slingshot/Crosshairs. What I said maybe out there but I think there is more to it than just a coincidence that the cars are different counterparts of each other as far as size goes. Bay said it's going to be a real shock when we find out who the Argosy is what will be a bigger shock than it being an evil version of Prime?

    1. Haha... Woooow... I promise you I'm not making fun of your thought process, but that is out there bro. I do agree with you about one thing though... from what I've read, I have a very bad feeling that there is the smaaaaallest of chances that the Argosy might be Nemesis Prime!!! Now I'm not too familiar with the Nemesis Prime storyline... but I will say this. It is very odd that there is a semi almost exactly like Prime. If for WHATEVER reason Bay makes the Argosy Megatron or Galvatron, I'll be piiiiiissed!!! There is absolutely no reason to make him a truck like prime. The humans making a clone of Prime is kind of corny as well... a TRANSFORMER is way to complex for a human to clone. The only thing that makes sense is either Motormaster or Ultra Magnus... and my gut tells me it ain't Magnus. I'm just going to have to put my faith in BAY.

    2. I know it's out there but you have to remember this script was written post Avengers. Don't be surprised if elements like alternate realities and other heavy sci-fi fantasy elements come into play. That would also be a good way to explain the new human characters.

  14. What I wonder is how they are going to bring in the Dinobots. If memory serves correctly they were made by the Autobots

    ReplyDelete
  15. The Dino bots in the G1 cartoon were the result of a suggestion Chip Chase made to Wheeljack. In the comic book, their origin was different from what I recall. I wouldn't completely trust the toy listing that came out as there were what appeared to be PLACEHOLDER names for some of the characters - and I bet the E.T. reporter was using a placeholder. We'll see 7 months from now.

  16. Origins vary. However in the animated series they were made by the autobots. I am halfway expecting him to dip into some Beast Wars barely and say the Dinobots are last remaining relic. Who knows. I am just hoping they don't end up being cars and Grimlock retains his speech

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Grimlock will be the only Dinobot able to speak, if the Dinobots even have robot modes. Laserbeak spoke in DOTM, though he was a mechanical bird with multiple alternate modes. But it's hard still to imagine if Grimlock would speak in dino mode.

    2. Martinus Prime11/21/2013 8:28 AM

Why do people still think the Dinobots could/will be cars???? WHY call them DINOBOTS if they are not dinosaurs? That would be the stupidest thing ever. Why else call them Dinobots?
Trust Bay and see the Dinobots will bé dinosaurs! And you can bet at least Grimlock will speak, how else are the gonna communicate with them, they are still Transformer robots.

      Delete
    3. For a few few reasons. Bay likes cars. Dinosaurs don't fit in the modern world which keeps them from being hidden. Also there is a transformer alternator toy line in which tada Grimlock was a car

      Delete
    4. I first thought Dinobots could be transforming into both dinosaurs and vehicles, But after seeing Grimlock's dino mode, I'm certain it won't happen.

  17. The Pagani is a clone of Bee. Hes not the only Clone Transformer in the movie. Humans have found a way to make their own Transformers with the help of Li Bingbing's character who calles herself "The mother of Transformers" and the aid of an object that is found that has the power to create new Transformer life as well as Clone existing Transformers. That object is in the black bag that is being carried around. (rumor is it may be Teletran-1)

    1. It's going to be an uproar if that is true. Humans can't make transformers!!!

  18. I wasn't wondering if the Dinobots will speak. I said I hope Grimlock retains his speech. "Me Grimlock smash" as opposed to "I,Grimlock, will go destroy it"

  19. I believe the "Evil Autobots" is the Shattered Glass Universe. I agree that humans cannot make actual Cybertronians, but they can make robots.A 'prime' example of that is Nemesis. Sorry, couldn't resist the pun.lol
I have my own theories about which Bot and Cons are in this movie. I do seriously have my doubts that there will be stunticons. While I don't think we'll see it in this movie, I am of the opinion that the new trilogy is gearing towards the introduction of Unicron.

    ReplyDelete
  20. I think you may be on to something tens. I do believe that the 5 cars seen in hong kong will be clones of the autobots. I also think that maybe 4 of the 5 will have G1 autobot names. just a theory.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I don't think we will see Nemesis or any other evil autobots. I think it would get to complicated for the average movie goer. I figure it will be Megatron or Galvatron. However,if.Galvatron is in it I doubt we will get much more than a mention of Unicron. I think Unicron was only ever in it to begin with so they could market new toys.

    ReplyDelete
  22. If there are any human made robots, it'll be Nemesis (but I highly doubt it). The reason I don't think there will be human made robots is, there's already too much going on in this movie, as is. There's the race to get to the Dinobots, trying to collect whatever relics are in this movie and battling evil humans and new Con threat. I also think nearly all the Cons will be CGI, which would make the vast majority of the vehicles we've seen, Autobots. Just my own theory though.
