Fans Petition for Transformers: Beast Wars Voice Cast

A Transformers: Beast Wars fan has started a change.org petition to have Paramount and Hasbro consider the Beast Wars voice cast to reprise their roles in Transformers: Rise of the Beasts live action movie.  The show premiered 25 years ago (!) with G1 fans at first hating it but soon grew to love it, especially as the grander story was told. Now it is once again back inspiring the Kingdom toy line and of course the upcoming movie.

I endorse the goal. Fans were right when they said there is no celebrity casting that could beat the voice of Peter Cullen as Optimus Prime and Frank Welker as Megatron, and really the same applies here.  Garry Chalk as Optimus Primal provides the leadership gravitas in his voice that few can pull off, David Kaye as Megatron (fingers crossed on that appeareance) chewed the scenery like no other, Scott MacNeil turned Rattrap and Dinobot into fan favorites and the list goes on.

For reasons I never quite understood, Hollywood thinks "named" voice actors are required in their movies to help sell them but that isn't simply true, especially in this day and age of streaming. Story is king, and if the story is there it will turn the unknown into stars and sell the movie for them. Its the process that keeps creating new stars and new hits yet Hollywood is always resistant to embrace it. If look at past Transformers films, about the only voice cast out there helping sell those movies were Peter Cullen and Frank Welker.  The same would be true here. They would get literally decades of voice acting experience, the ability to play multiple roles, and more.  You could call it fan service, but really its just a good call from acting skills, budget, and directing perspective. Even if not too many fans sign the petition, hopefully the powers that be are listening.
