A TF2 Constructicon Toy? (Update)

Thanks to Gregory for the link to what appears to be a posting of a potential Transformers 2 Voyager class Construction toy on ACToys.net. As some have pointed out, the toy looks pretty close to a Terex RH400, which is considered the "largest hydraulic excavator in the world." At first I want to be dismissive of this toy as it hasn't been transformed properly and it seems to lack the detail that the movie toys normally have. However, we have not seen the robot mode and a red Terex RH400 does match the rumor on Devastor.

Assuming this toy is legit, does this prove that a combiner of 7 Constructions is in Transformers 2? Consider a few things. One is the call sheet which described one Transformer character as a "Constructicon Earth Mover." Also an anonymous source whose information proved reliable way back in late June told me) that the Constructicon would not be one of several, but a single TF whose alt mode is the "world's largest earth mover". The RH400 fits that bill nicely.

It is way too early to draw any definitive conclusions but I have had doubts for a while about a true combiner in the film due mostly to costs. If history holds, hopefully in a week or so more pictures will come out to clarify things.

Update: HK-TF.com has posted additional pictures. One shows off the vehicle mode that is clearly a RH400, with what appears to be a Decepticon logo on the side. There are also two shots of what I guess is a potential configuration to merge into Devastator. The boxes in the background are from Beast Wars line. I still want to see the robot mode. One theory is they don't have individual robot modes; the vehicles combine to form a super robot. My only response to that is this is Transformers, not Voltron.

  2. the toy cannot transform into full robot because this is a combiner. from the picture, i guess it can only be transform into the upper torso of the constructicon. its more like the Constructicon Maximus in Transformer Energon.

  3. It appears Terex RH400 excavator is confirmed, but what about it's name.

  4. Wait a second, that's not it same excavator.

  5. So what's up with the red car and the green bike?

    ReplyDelete
  6. I don't know, but that article speaks true. It must be one of the Constructicons.

  7. The red car and the green bike are the new new scout class figures for the movie. Probably just there to show scale.
To me the head looks kinda similar to bonecrushers.
I would like to think this is just one part of devestator but im not getting my hopes up

  8. i knew that Knock Out and Dead End are scout class figures. I didn't know you talked about excavator itself.

  10. Looks cool.

Is this supposed to be the green constructicon from the concept art earlier?

So, if that particular constructicon is in the sequel as a character (probably in the film for about 32 seconds), what are the chances that Michael Bay will name it something like "Thrust", "Octane", "Kickback" or "Blitzwing", and totally crush the possibility of the above-mentioned characters being in a third film, huh?
(Referring to the "Bonecrusher", and "Brawl" vs. "Devastator" thing from the first film.)

  12. ^ cool... there's some sort of head...could it be that it's devastator's head?

  13. It must be. that toy confirmed that Constructicons hasn't own robot modes. They are just several construction vehicles whose merge Devastator. Now we all know that cement mixer truck doesn't transform to Devastator's head. It's excavator. Still there has been old that all Constructicons will be packed into Supreme Class package in Devastator form. But if they hasn't own robot modes. It means that Constructicons hasn't own names.

  14. "But if they hasn't own robot modes. It means that Constructicons hasn't own names."

I actually wouldn't mind that scenario. Audiences probably don't want to try and decifer and remember several construction vehicle-transformer names. It may be better to have several vehicles that don't have names and don't transform, but merge into one giant robot-Devastator. Less confusion that way.

  15. I didn't talk about their construction vehicles names. I talked about names of Constructicons theirselves.

    ReplyDelete
  16. But that 'Constructicons without names' talk is excatly one point. Then concept artists wouldn't need to design so many robot modes. Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Ironhide, Ratchet, Starscream and Barricade are similar than in first film. Robot modes of Sideswipe, Trax Autobot, Audi R8 Decepticon, Soundwave, Jetfire, beast mode of Ravage and head of the Fallen are released. There are still Arcee, Devastator and the Fallen's full robot mode without releasing.

  17. Sorry, I knew you weren't talking about the VEHICLE models/names.

What I was referring to, was audiences trying to remember the TRANSFORMERS names like
"Hook", "Mixmaster", "Scrapper", "Long Haul" etc.

Better to just have several nameless, non-transforming vehicles that combine to form ONE robot-Devastator. (One name to remember.)

  18. I imagine the merging transformation would be as difficult as it is without them worrying about the robots transforming into their own forms.

I'm thinking they might merge from at a distance so you get a full view and so not much detail has to be put into them. (so it's easier to render)

  20. The reports were that Devestator or the combiner form will resemble a huge gorilla so who knows. That already makes me not like where the concept is going but I will try my best to not past judgement until the movie is released. I thought the same about Starscream and I was proven wrong because he looks awesome in the movie and even in comic format.

Nah, they will do it just like with Optimus in the first film, with extreme close up, so we won't even know, what is what and where does it go...:P

    ReplyDelete
  22. I have the theory that it will be 1 Transformer that uses different elements around him almost like a Magnet to from some kind of large Gorilla type robot. And be able to swing its arms and Move its legs based on.

So if you have 1 Large Construction Vehicle that is the Main Body, The rest is parts and pieces of Trucks, Cars, Crain’s, and other Construction Devices to just kind of stick together as Limbs.

But really ONLY 1 Full Transformer.

Not all the Equipment will be a Decepticon. The single one will Kind of make arms and legs from standing equipment, and be able to magnetically swing them.

If anyone one has ever seen the movie “Galaxy Quest”, then you know the scene with the rock guy that kind of forms out of 100 large boulders this is what I am referring too.

It stops from them having to transform a crew of 6-7 robots into 1. With having one just grab stuff around him to form 1 robot.

I really hope I am explaining this correctly so that you guys understand my theory.

  23. Well, one rumor that's been circulating is that there will be two toys per constructicon. One toy for combination, one toy for separate robot mode. Not too far fetched, considering the engineering in the movie line.

    ReplyDelete
  24. There was already confirmation of this. All but one of the constructicons will have robot modes and this is the one that doesn't.

    ReplyDelete
  25. "Nah, they will do it just like with Optimus in the first film, with extreme close up, so we won't even know, what is what and where does it go...:P"

That too, except at a distance ;)

  26. From the look of the head of the robot it appears that it's probably the head of Devastator. The reason I say this is that the face looks sort of like a gorilla, which was rumored earlier. Also, in that same rumor Devastator was described as having the chest of a cement mixer. From the looks of the pics of this robot it would appear that the cement mixer could fit in horizontally under head and shoulders formed by the first robot giving Devastator the barrel chest that was described...???

My hope though is that this robot's head will not form the head of Devastator. I don't understand why you would want to make him look like a gorilla. I would prefer he look more like that awesome render that was published on the web awhile back of the huge mining dump truck named Long Haul. That robot looked massive, menacing, and very bad ass.

  27. If think it's size right and if Constructicons can be bought also in separate packages, when they can be also be packed to same package, I would say that every Constructicon will be Voyager class toy.

  28. hello...a first. look closely at the wheels could this be one of the few transformers with actual moving treads?

  31. Hmmm.

This makes alot more sense now. After seeing the teaser that is.

  32. One way or another, its paint job isn't O&K or Terex livery, it's based off the paintjob for one of the two RH400's at Syncrude in Alberta. The red is actually known as 'Syncrude Red', and the 11-35 is the shovel number of the first RH400 that Syncrude put into service.
