Poll: Optimus Prime With or Without Faceplate

Michael Bay's website is having an informal poll to see what people would prefer, Optimus Prime with his faceplate or without. Nothing in the post indicates it official by any means or will impact what is or is not done in regards to the movie, but feel free to let you opinion known because it can't hurt either.

  1. Replied Here 'cuz the Bay Blog was to complicated and asked alot of questions.

Ya, the Faceplate makes Prime more like the original. But hey, this isn't the original cartoon. It supposed to be more real. The G1 cartoon was way to unbeleivable. I mean a robot bigger than Prime shrinks into a gun that can be held in another TF's hand. Sure, that seams beleivable.

Showing Prime's face GIVES THE FACEPLATE PURPOSE (battle protection). Just like all the other TFs in the movie. I understand why Bay originally decided to give Prime lips. Plus, the reason the faceplate was used in the cartoon was to save the artist's time not having to constantly draw talking lips. Duh.

All you super TF Geeks just need to move on. Things change, and usually for the better.

And yes, I did grow up loving TFs just like all of you.

PS: Thanks blog creator for keeping me very well informed. This blog is great. As I'm sure the Movie will be with or without the faceplate, it doesn't really matter. All that matters is the Transformations and the story.

  2. Yeah I love this blog. The TF Movie message board is filled with such complete douche bags I hated going there. Now this blog is my first stop for TF info.

I like the face plate myself. I hope it gets used, but if not then I won't lose sleep or anything

  3. The issue isn't if he should/shouldn't have a faceplate. We can assume with what we know about bumblebee... that every transformer in the movie have dual modes. Regular and battle-mode. Battle-mode (like seen with bumblebee's pics) has their faces covered up. Regular mode is when they're sipping some ice tea with Sam. Therefore, I believe Optimus when he speaks will have his faceplate open up, and when in battle, covers it up.

  4. Optimus don't look right here in the picture without the faceplate, but I am for it if they make it look right. To me, it's more emotional without the faceplate. However, prime just never went without the plate, so that's safe and what I would do if I was Bay.

  5. The faceplate should stay. There simply is no reason not to have one. I think Cullen's voice acting is all that is needed to give Prime emotion.

And yes we are talking about a live action movie here, not a cartoon. So one would ask why a robot would have lips and a mouth when their native language is electronic/data.

  6. I'm actually really liking the one w/out the faceplate, but as previously mentioned, all of them have 'dual modes', so they shouldn't make Prime keep his faceplate on when everyone else doesn't.

  7. Wouldn't it be like Kenny from Southpark if he kept it on....LOL!

Get a grip. Do you think he breaths? He's a robot. Do you even think that his voice even comes from his mouth? It could be projected from his eyes for all we know.

You're trying to act like he's a person, and you call others geeks? Get a grip, it's a movie special effect of a ROBOT. ROBOT.

Complain about the things you don't like. Don't shut-up and become a robot zombie just praising everything. People who like the Transforms know what they want. And if you just happen to hear complaints, it's because people are unhappy and are expressing an opinion.

If you cannot stand that then you need to look away. Don't post or read comments. Anyone can be a mindless yes-man, but having a creative constructive opinion is a much more brave act.

Too many people defend this movie without thought as to what they are saying. Just quick witless phrases. I assume most are paid to do this as their job, hired by the marketing company. Take their praise with a large gain of salt.

They make general statements like 'everything changes' and such. Idiocy. Should we update the Lord Of The Rings? Was that a bad picture because it had not "changed". Let's grow up and realize you can keep things basically the same and make a good movie. Everyone could have had what they waited for, for so many years.

For many of us, we know this will be a great film, but it is still a disappointment. An announcement was made about a Transformers film, and that is what was expected. This does not meet that expectation, even for a minute. And don't say 'wait to see it'. We've all judged based on what we know. You love it, I hate it, but I don't just hate it as a movie. I hate what it has done to such a wonderful story and heroic characters.

I with you all the best. I hope the movie sells many tickets and the all the people who love the film feel good about enriching those who made it.
