Transformers: ROTF Price Guide

Update: Another update, this time for what is probably the deal of the week from Wal-Mart with Blu-ray "Big Screen" edition for $13.00 (but up to $19.96 depending on area but over all they are offering the edition cheaper then anyone else). As for how the IMAX footage works, it is the same as The Dark Knight where the scenes expand to fill the screen (removing the black bars) and then shrink back once the IMAX specific moments end. If I remember right the areas it's used in is the Demolisher fight, forest fight and for Devastator.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen has hit store shelves (special features details here. To help promote the release, some national chains have exclusives such as the type of case, extra scenes and the like. Also most stores have sale prices for the first week of release.

    1. Does the walmart imax version only come with the movie, or does it include the second disc with special features also?

    2. I'm pretty positive the version with the imax clips is the 2 disc version. They are not going to put the imax clips in just the regular old dvd, that would be part of the special features, which you get with the 2 disc version.

    3. I work at a Fry's Electronics. The 2 disc DVD I believe I saw was $20.77, and the Blu-Ray was $22.77. I'm not sure about the one disc since I wasn't pricing that one for friends.

    4. Here in Mexico the movie is on stores since friday (oct 16) in walmart (single DVD version), and I bought the DVD Steelcase version yesterday (sunday oct-18) for 299 pesos (22.5 US dolars) in the stores Fabricas de Francia. (2 years ago, the DVD Steelcase was sold in mexico only on Costco)

    5. DVD is a definite since I don't have a Blu-Ray player.

      Blu-Ray I'll get because it is a collector's must-have.

I'm gonna try my hardest to get the steelcase version.

    6. Is the IMAX version available at Canadian Wal-Marts? It's not listed on their site.

    7. Okay, I checked the items themselves today, and I learned that I need to learn what on earth the computer is talking about. The price stick for the 1 disc version is $19.99, the 2 disc is $24.99, and the Blu-Ray is $24.99. Sorry for the mix up.

    8. Sorry for the double post, I can't type today, Blu-Ray is $29.99.

    9. I already have the movie on my computer and iPod in HD.

      You guys are lame

      ReplyDelete
    10. Why is it lame to have it on DVD/BD disc?

I prefer to have it on legit DVD/BD disc so I know that I earned it with real money.

You know, honesty and altruism. Is that lame?

    11. Roughly less than 12hrs now for me. Going to Futureshop about 1hr 30min early for 10am opening to get the bluray steel case. No 12am openings here in Calgary that I know of. It's cool that Boarderland comes out the same day.

Since its going to be snowing and about 2c hopefully I'll be the 1st in line. :D

    12. does anyone know if blockbuster is going to sell it on midnight like they did for The dark knight?

      ReplyDelete
    13. Bought it after midnight at the nearest 24 hr Wal-Mart. It was $19.96 (+tax) for the IMAX Blu-Ray. Awesome. Awesome to the max.

    16. Just bought the 2 disc special edition. I haven't check out the movie yet, but I didn't see the Imax version in the special features. Did they include that in the feature film disc?

      ReplyDelete
    17. has anyone confirmed whether the IMAX footage is incorporated with the film like in the Dark Knight, or if it will have to be viewed as separate clips as an extra feature? this will make the difference in me going to Best Buy or going further to Walmert for the Blu Ray...

      ReplyDelete
    18. Got the Blu-ray at walmart for just $17.02 (includes tax). Imax footage is just like in the Dark Knight movie. Well worth it, looks great!

    19. I bought the Wal Mart exclusive Blu Ray this morning for $13.99!! Don't know if Wal Mart had mixed up the pricing or not but I got a great deal!!!

    20. the IMAX footage was awesome. Glad I got the WM version. Would have been upset if I purchased a "bumblebee" case that will sit in my cabinet.

      ReplyDelete
    21. I'm so glad I got the Walmart version! Just wondering if the extra footage is in all the versions, but the Walmart copy has the IMAX fullscreen morph? The screen opening up like that definitly makes it easier to see what's going on. Much better than the theater. And the sound is AMAZING!

      ReplyDelete
    22. Picked up 2 DVD Special Editions and a Blu-Ray today! Yay!

      ReplyDelete
    23. agree with everyones imax footage..having my flat screen with sorround sound in my room sounds amazing...
is it possible to still cancel my reserve copy at fye?? i only paid $8 for reserve..can i get a refund? i got the reserve at fye store..

    24. I found one legitimate place where to watch movies free online! Rest one seem like scams to me.. You can try it over here http://moviesss.info

    25. just an FYI to answer the question should anyone have it, the Walmart version is not labeled with IMAX or IMAX footage or anything like that. You will see printed on the case of the blu Ray/DVD, or on a sticker, something that says BIG SCREEN EDITION.
If you see BIG SCREEN EDITION that means that it does indeed have the IMAX scenes that open up the screen.
Don't bother asking a Walmart employee if it truly has the IMAX footage or not because they are clueless about it.
I'm guessing saying IMAX to the standard Walmart shopper would have been brain boggling, so the mcdonald's simple version they would understand is BIG SCREEN EDITION.

    26. Got the walmart 2 disc version. I tried the Optimus Experience online. Sort of sucks. Getting the shards to line up was impossible. Plus Optimus was upside down in mine. Pretty stupid gimmick.

      ReplyDelete
    27. "Optimus was upside down"

      Oh those evil Decepticons!

      ReplyDelete
    28. i just wish the evil people would release it on FULL screen instead of lame movie version i dont know bout all of you but if i pay that much for a movie i dont want to miss 2-3 inches on top and bottom to me its blah.. bring back full screen!!!!

      ReplyDelete
    29. Can anyone figure out how to get the www.optimusexperience.com game to work. All I get is a demonstration video that continuously repeats. I've tried it with MAC and PC and on every web browser.

WHAT'S THE TRICK? How does it work?

and PS: Full screen sucks, because you're not missing any information at the top and bottom. But you loose nearly half the picture on both sides because they have to crop the right and left so that it will fit on full screen. So I give my praise to wide screen.

And anyway, since most TV's now are HD TV's that are 16:9 anyway. You can modify the aspect ratios on your TV while viewing the movie so it takes up the whole screen.

      ReplyDelete
    30. Why on earth do you have full screen?

This is the year 2009, not 1979. ^_^

That's like praying to the Gods to bring back analog TV signals.

And you know, full screen CUTS OUT the left and right margins. You're missing out either way.

Solution: get a new widescreen TV.

      ReplyDelete
    31. Yeah widescreen is the future. I don't have a widescreen tv, but would never buy the full screen version of a movie.

For the optimus experience, click the question mark to close the help screen. Like I said it's stupid, you will see.

      ReplyDelete
    32. The walmart version is one to get. I don't like walmart it's below me but the IMAX scenes open up just like in TDK I would say it is even better because IMAX had a better use inthis it really shows the size and detail of the bots. I hope the tf3 has more IMAX scenes and are included on all blurays because with this movie lots of people are missing out

Widescreen is the future? What year are you living in? If this was 1975 I'd say you were on to something!

    34. Anyone knows if the IMAX edition is available in Wal Mart Mexico?

      ReplyDelete
    35. On the DVD the twins still curse the dialoge is not really changed like the DVD box claims

      ReplyDelete
    36. my GOD! how low are your prices!!!!! we dont have a walmart here. and the bluray is like $30-$40 and the normal 2disc is like $25!!! WHY IS EVERYTHING SO EXPENCIVE and comes out nov 5...

      ReplyDelete
    37. I have a question. Spoilers by the way. At the beginning of the movie, we see the Sun Harvester, is that same one we saw later in the film? The one that was hidden in the pyramid and Devastator is on top of.

      ReplyDelete
    38. I haven´t seen the IMAX version in Mexico yet, but maybe is you go to Sams, Costco, MixUp or Samborns... But in fabricas de francia they give a gift with the movie: a small schoobag (lonchera)
