Orci, Kurtzman Working on CG Transformers: Prime

When the next Transformers cartoon debuts on Discovery Kids this fall, according to The Hollywood Reporter, Transformers movie writers Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman, "are working on ...the "Transformers" CG-animated series for upcoming Hasbro/Discovery channel the Hub. The CG cartoon is going to be called "Transformers: Prime" according to actor Jeffery Combs website.

It is unknown what style of CG that will be used. Hasbro (and really most cartoons) has used an Anime influenced style for the last decade or so likely to continue that as it’s believed kids prefer it. However, Orci and Kurtzman are clearly fans of the Beast Wars era of cartoons (see use of Sparks as example) which might give hope that Hasbro will move away from this and maybe attempt something that actually takes advantage of advancements in CG since Beast Machines left the air.

  1. i would like to see another sequel to transformers. i'd want to watch to what happen to the transformers after beast machines. incarnations are all right for the new generation of kids and transformer fans but i would like to see new life and battles the transformers face in their future after beast machines.

  2. Although I loved Beast Wars, I didn't enjoy Beast Machines. The characters changed too much, and the style was not what I had come to enjoy. I hope it continues with the Movie-Characters, since because Bay seems to care more for the human actors than the robots (or because it's easier to film people than CGI, take your pick).

  3. It's cheaper to film the people. lol Bay did what he could do with the budget. If you read about the making of the movies, the way Bay does stuff is pretty smart, he saves a lot of money, to which he uses the saved money and puts it into more effects. If he had 500 million you would get a movie with the Transformers on screen the whole time. So talk to the people who give him the money, not Bay.

  6. I disagree. I think this speaks more to their relationship with Bay then it does it us getting fukked as fans. Judgement pending obviously, but that is pretty odd that they chose to work on a tf related project that ISN'T the movie.

  8. I hope a return to the CGI stuff like beast wars. I don't care for the anime stuff I've seen or even some CGI cartoons like that hotwheels one. Beast wars CGI is dated for sure but the animation (movement of characters)was pretty good for it's time and still holds up decently today.
