Images from Transformers 4 Hong Kong Set (Updated)

Transformers: Age of Extinction continues to film in Hong Kong, China. Information remains light but TFW2005 forum members did manage to get a few pictures. It seems that Titus Welliver has joined the rest of the main cast so the only ones missing at this point is Stanley Tucci and Kelsey Grammer. A few new cars were also spotted but as usual its unclear if these are TF alt modes or serve some other purpose. The identified new vehicles are a blue Kawasaki, two Audi S6, Cadillac CTS, white Lamborghini Gallardo, black Ferrari and maybe a Bentley. As for what is being filmed, that remains unknown but Titus being on the set indicates it ties into whatever was filmed in the Lockhart, Texas back in June. The full gallery of images are at TFW2005.

Update: Another set of images have been posted that shows the actors, including Tucci, on set along with more vehicles including 'Bee. That set is here.

  1. The main question is: are these cars just cars to be blown up or cars that become transformers?

    1. Most likely they are cars for the villain human to have like Carly's boss. Bay can't afford to pass up showing off expensive cars, cheap advertising for those car companies. Maybe 1 will be a decepticon but besides that none of those truly makes sense.

None of them will be Transfromers, maybe the kawasaki bike will be, bc why would there be a bike with the cars?
But the rest most probably will be the human cars, especially the 2 Audi S6's.

  3. Did anyone see the new video with the three Trax and the grey cab-over. The three Trax look like they are Transformers!

    1. No, what Trax do you mean? Chevy Trax? Or do you mean the RallyFighters?

    2. 3 Trax were seen on set today in this video:

That video doesn't play on my laptop, just like that Chinese silo set with the Leadfoot voice recording didn't.

Is it really hard to believe that these could in fact be transformers? Maybe not all but I recall it being stated that some characters change throughout the film like an actor changes costumes. That lambo could be another form for the adventador character. The Ferrari could be another for the "dino" looking character and so on and so forth. Not saying this is how it will be, but I wont shoot down any possibilities just yet.

If that was stated, that could be plausible. Then the white Lambo Gallardo later takes on the superior Aventador alt form.
I'm very curious if that will happen, than we would have a lot more scan scenes than before, that's a good thing. But if ILM has to do multiple robot forms for multiple Transformers, that would drive up the production cost immensly. I don't know about that.

The cars would cost more than the work ILM would have to do honestly. Same bot, new skin... Not that serious. It was stated so I wouldnt be surprised. Time will tell.

    3. Dudemus:I totally agree, Martinus@. We all know that MikeB's budget for this movie isn't as large as the past installments. That statement does make sense. Which leads me to believe that most if not all of those cars are just character vehicles and not Cybertronians in disquise.

I'm not so sure about that Six Pipez. I don't think the cars are more expensive than all the cgi that ILM has to do (for all the robots, if all the cars were bots).
It's not as easy as you say, same bot, new skin. I do not think that is the case. Every bot transforms different and with all the different moving parts on each car. That's very expensive. That's a reason why we didn't get Tidal Wave in the 1st movie. A big as robotform from a carriership was to expensive.

    5. Im not trying to change what you feel. Believe what you will. But being a 3d animation student myself... I know they wouldnt have to start from a scatch model. They would just have to change the main parts with the other car. Transformation wouldnt change because its the same bot. This is not as costly as creating from scratch. So think what you will.. I have already said that I wasn't saying this is how it would be. But simply that, knowing what I know, I wouldnt be surprised. Also as much as technology has changed since the first movie... I'm sure that they have found ways to create them cheaper. I tried to let you guys think as you will on the matter yesterday by dropping it. Lets not talk as if we know what bay is paying.. Shall we?
