Road Home, DC Video and TF Trailer Call-back

Even though current, but limited knowledge, indicates that Transformers: The Dark of the Moon is no longer filming in the states, the image taken by Denise T. shows Ironhide and Ratchet as they were transported on Monday around noon through Phoenix, Arizona in Eastbound lane. More than likely the destination is wherever the TFs are stored when no longer being used for filming or promotional use but maybe more is being done in LA.

Speaking of production, below is another video from Washington, DC filming. This one is shows more of the filming at Lincoln Memorial and what else Shia and Josh were up to after they ran across the lawn and what the flashing lights might have been for. The last video is the teaser trailer for the upcoming movie Skyline. Mostly posting it because found it amusing the use of the Transformers 1 trailer music queues and font designs complete with glowing light in the background. Thanks to Mauricio and and Jakenbocker for the links.

Transformers Score on Billboard Charts

The Transformers Score by Steve steve Jablonsky has been out for a little over a week and sadly the sales don't seem that impressive. Out of the top 200 albums, it ranks at #172, soundtrack wise its #13, and according to MTV.com it only sold 4300 copies in the first week.

Hopefully those sales are more a result of the lack of availability rather then lack of interset as pretty much the only way to get the score is from online stores. If its at brick and mortar stores, I have not read a post yet about it. Hopefully it will start showing up there and drive sales up. (source)

Transformers: The Score (NOT) Out In Stores

Just a little reminder that the score to Transformers should now be out in stores starting today.

Update: Based on the comments to this thread and elsewhere, it appears the score is NOT out in stores. The reported release date was 10/9 yet nada in the brick and mortars. In hindsight, its pretty telling that none of the Sunday advertising flyers had the score even though usually new releases get a mention. Apparently you can order it online at Amazon and BestBuy.com. For now though I recommend a wait and see as its possible that stores are simply waiting to pair it up with the Transformers DVD & HD-DVD thats coming out next week.

Transformers Score CD Cover

Below is the proposed cover to the upcoming October 9th release of the Transformers Score. Its pretty much a reuse of previous movie poster, a normal practice for score covers.

Transformers Score 2-Disc Edition?

Knight Shift, the blog that's been tracking the Transformers Score information, is posting that Warner Bros. might release a 2 disc edition of the Transformers movie score if the sales of the CD coming October 9th warrant it. Note I said may. Don't hang your hat on it or wait for it. Usually when studios do release a special edition of a score (and its pretty damn rare) its a year or more later.

The site is reporting that ordering on Barnes and Noble (#669) and Amazon is pretty good though. Amazon has gone from 1618 yesterday to 217 today and probably climb
even further in the sales charts.

Also apparently Warner Bros had planned to release the score in November but decided to speed up the process, possibly because of demand but probably because the DVD is being release sooner then expected (current rumor is October 16th).

Transformers: The Score Coming October 9th

Knight Shift has revealed that its looks like the Steve Jablonsky score for Transformers is coming to stores October 9th. In a way this also may confirm rumors are the DVD of Transformers is coming the following week on the 16th since usually marketing likes to tie things like this together.

The album is already up for sale at Amazon, Barnes & Nobles, and Best Buy.

According to a post on TFW2005, these are un-confirmed tracks on the CD:
1. Blackout Attacks (3:02)
2. Bumblebee and Sam (4:15)
3. Barricade Interrogation (3:18)
4. Frenzy Hacks Air Force One (3:34)
5. Target: Scorponok (5:12)
6. Autobot Arrival (4:55)
7. Optimus Prime VS. Bonecrusher (3:23)
8. All Hail Megatron! (4:10)
9. Starscream (3:11)
10. The Allspark (2:33)
11. Urban Warfare (6:34)

Transformers Score a Go?

According to Knight Shift, it appears that Dan Butler, Senior VP for Music at Paramount Pictures, has confirmed that a score album is coming from Warner Bros. Records. The below email is apparently the result of a query that the site's source, Sam Witwicky, send to Paramount Pictures.

From: Dan Butler at Paramount
Date: Aug 16, 2007 4:12 AM
Subject: RE: Transformers Original Score
To: Sam Witwicky

There will be a score album released shortly on Warner Bros. Records. Thanks for your interest!

Dan Butler
Senior Vice President
Business Affairs & Legal - Music
Paramount Pictures
Seems odd a VP would respond (at 4am no less) but stranger things have happened. True or not, the end result is there is still no release date and until a release date, the score release remains in the rumor column.

Transformers Score Coming?

It appears that the Transformers Score may be back on. At least according to Chandra Cogburn, who was one of the composers for the film. I thought that Steve Jablonsky was the composer but maybe its like assistant composer or something. Beats me. This bit of news is a turnaround from previous news that the Transformers Score had been cancelled by Sony Music.

From The Knight Shift blog:
There will be an album of Transformers score coming out soon. I do not know the details, as I am not working on it. Thanks so much for appreciating the music, and all our hard work!

Best,
Chandra Cogburn
On, off, on again, beats me. Guess find out soon one way or the other.

Transformers Score Cancelled?

While it was never confirmed or announced to begin with, it seems that Sony Music decided to not release the score from Transformers. According to Knight Shift, via Superhero Hype forums that SonyMusicStore Customer Service replied in to an inquiry about the score with "At this time, there are no immediate plans regarding the release of the Transformers soundtrack score."

I can't say I am suprised. The movie has been released in most of the world for nearly a month now but no score CD to go with it, when the sales would be highest, pretty much proved that there was no plans for the score album to begin with.

If want to read the full report, click here. There is also an online petition for the score here. Probably will not work but can't hurt to sign I guess.

Transformers The Album Website Is Up

Turns out the Transformers Soundtrack is got its own website to. They have a website for everything nowadays. Not much to the website yet, just samples of the same 3 songs that the official site is already playing in full. Also has pics of all the bands that just link back to each band's website. According to Amazon, the CD is coming out July 3rd.

Click here to check it out.

3 Songs From Transformers Soundtrack Now Streaming

The official Transformers movie website is now streaming three songs from the upcoming soundtrack for Transformers which I think is coming out this Tuesday. The songs are "Before It's Too Late (Sam and Mikaela's Theme) by the Goo Goo Dolls, "What I've Done" by Linkin Park and "Transformers Theme" by Mutemath.

To find the songs, go to the TF movie website, pick a side, wait for screen to load and will see an option "Soundtrack" in the top right of the screen. Click it and there you go. Oddly the Linkin Park song made me think of the movie Halloween with its opening chord.

There is also other updates on the sites, galleries and the like that might be worth checking out. Thanks to Maximus for the heads-up.

New Stan Bush Transformers Theme

Stan Bush has released a snippet of a new Transformers theme. For those not familiar, Stan Bush was one of the singers and writers for the animated Transformers: The Movie soundtrack back in 1986. He is of the famed "The Touch" that most Transfans could probably sing to you whether they would admit to it or not. I don't know if its official with the movie release or him just doing his own thing. Thanks to Chad T for the link and don't forget to check out the message boards.

Click here to listen to the mp3 formatted song.

Transformers Soundtrack Album Music

IGN has posted an article revealing the 12 sound and artists on the Transformers Soundtrack which will be in stores on July 3rd.

The article:
Transformers Soundtrack Hits July 3rd
Album for Michael Bay's summer blockbuster chock full of rock blasts and exclusive tracks.

June 7, 2007 - On July 3rd, 2007, Warner Bros. will release the soundtrack album to Michael Bay's Transformers

The album will feature a total of 12 tracks, nine of which are brand new and exclusive to the soundtrack.

Artists included on the album range from Linkin Park to Smashing Pumpkings, Disturbed, The Used, HIM, Taking Back Sunday, and more.

The first single from the album will be "Before It's Too Late (Sam and Mikaela's Theme)" by the Goo Goo Dolls.

Transformers - Music From The Motion Picture
1. Linkin Park "What I've Done"
2. Smashing Pumpkins "Doomsday Clock"
3. Disturbed "This Moment"
4. Goo Goo Dolls "Before It's Too Late (Sam and Mikaela's Theme)"
5. The Used "Pretty Handsome Awkward"
6. HIM "Passion's Killing Floor"
7. Taking Back Sunday "What It Feels Like To Be A Ghost?"
8. Styles Of Beyond "Second To None"
9. Armor For Sleep "End Of The World"
10. Idiot Pilot "Retina and the Sky"
11. Julien-K "Technical Difficulties"
12. Mutemath "Transformers Theme"
I am going to hazard a guess that Mutemath is the ones responsible for the music track on Sector 7. "Fiction" isn't listed but I think that the new name is "Before It's Too Late"

Update: Turns out my guess about the Sector 7 track being the Mutemath track was completely wrong. To find out how wrong, go to the Mutemath MySpace page to listen to their "Transformers Theme" track. If it doesn't play right off, its on the music menu on the right column of the site. Thanks to uwgrimlock and others for the info.

Transformers Score Recording Pics

Soundtrack.net has a series of pictures that covers some of the recording of the score for Transformers. The composer is Steve Jablonsky.

From the article, "There are six major themes within the score, which runs approximately 90-minutes in length. While the classic "Transfomers" theme song doesn't figure into the score (as of this writing, at least), Jablonsky indicated that he did work on a new version of it, which could possibly appear over the end credits or on the song soundtrack album. The thematic motif heard in the original teaser music from last fall (which Jablonsky scored) is also woven into the score. The recently released theatrical trailer does feature original music written by Jablonsky, but intentionally has no relation to the score for the film. Additionally, Jablonsky wrote the music for the upcoming computer game tie-in, which will be released by Activision on June 19th."

Stinks about the original theme being confirmed as no longer in play. I am betting its because of the lawsuit between the original composer over royalties. Why pay her to use it if can just create a new one? Ironically if had waited to file until after the movie, would have had more money coming to her.

The soundtrack album will be out June 26th and apparently there are plans to possibly release a score album. The difference is one is some of the score (generally open and ending music) and then lots of (usually) pop music that played in the film. The score is like the title, its the instrumental music that played in the background of the film. Rarely vocals and more for the die hard fan who just like that music. Similar to say the score albums for Glory, Braveheart and Titantic.

Give "Fiction" from Transformers Soundtrack A Listen

Alternative Addiction has "Fiction (Before It's Too Late)" by the Goo Goo Dolls for Transformers available to listen to. According to the site the soundtrack will be in stores on June 26th but doesn't mention what the rest of the songs will be.

Click here to reach the song. I am not sure what it requires to play. If it requires Realplayer to be installed to listen, my recommendation is to NOT install Realplayer (crappy program) and wait until an alternative way to listen becomes available. Thanks to site readers for the link. Personally hadn't had much luck getting it to play, just says "buffering" so site might be just getting slammed.

Goo Goo Dolls Song Called "Fiction"

As previously reported, a press release for the Goo Goo Dolls song for the Transformers soundtrack, "The latest news from The Goos is that the band has recorded a brand new, exclusive song for the upcoming "Transformers" film soundtrack, called "Fiction." Details on both the film and the soundtrack to be announced shortly."

Transformers Soundtrack Includes The Goo Goo Dolls

During an interview where Goo Goo Dolls vocalist Johnny Rzeznik picked up an award for "Better Days", he revealed the group just recorded a song for the Transformers soundtrack.

"Michael Bay and Lorenzo from the film, they approached my manager about getting me in there to do it. It's sort of the love theme, of course. That's what everybody wants from me. I'm more than happy to oblige. It's an awesome movie."

Thanks to Pon H. for the link and info. He is guessing that they are recording the love theme of the movie which I agree with considering the Goo Goo Dolls movie history (see "Iris" as an example). End of credits perhaps?

Video of the interview here.
