Revenge is Almost Here

Update: Added posters and various links that I removed from the left and right colums so people can still find them if want to.

Just a few more hours and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen starts premiering in the United States and other areas (depending on time zone). To pass the time, here in order of oldest to newest are the trailers and TV spots for the movie. Besides it is another excuse to play with YouTube playlists. For those that see the movie, feel free to answer the poll question to the left.

Transformers Revenge of the Fallen Selling Out

What do the critics know as MichaelBay.com has provided a mini-update the US debut of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen starting in just hours at 12:01am.

Hundreds of tomorrow night’s midnight show times for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (debuting June 24 at 12:01 a.m.) are already sold out across the country. A few facts from Fandango below:

- Sold-out midnight show times (on Tuesday night/Wednesday morning) can be found all across the U.S.A., in cities such as New York, San Francisco, Washington, D.C., Chicago, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Albuquerque, Denver, Houston, Nashville, Orlando, Colorado Springs, Tulsa, Fresno and Buford, Georgia (good thing got my tickets weeks ago).
- Exhibitors are continuing to add 3:45 a.m. or 4:00 a.m. show times on Wednesday morning to meet the fan demand (verified my local theatre added show times).
- Currently, the film is selling twice as many tickets on Fandango as the original Transformers sold at the same point in that film’s sales cycle (two days before release date).
- The movie currently represents 87% of today’s ticket sales
- And as we noted yesterday, TF 2 showings at 500+ theaters in China are sold out 1.5 weeks in advanced.

Transformers ROTF Trashed By Critics

Probably to the surprise of no one, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is getting trashed by critics judging by the summaries and results over at Rotten Tomatoes. Currently the ratings show a top critics rating of 23% (out of 100), T-Meter critics rating of 29%, and RT community (site users) of 68%. Comparing that to the first Transformers movie which has a top critics rating of 68%, T-Meter of 57%, audience rating of 68% it seems to sequel is suffering.

These results however are not definitive. The only number (besides money) that really matters to Paramount and Bay is the audience number. Word of mouth alone made Star Trek the current US top dog and Hangover a smashing success. This year it seems, as people watch what they spend their money on, they are paying a lot more attention to what friends say about a movie then a critic and judging by the audience score, things are looking good for the movie and this is before the world wide audience gets a chance to weigh in.

Below is a sampling from a few reviews. The consensus seems to be confusing plot, poor dialog, too long, too loud, and too many robots and confusion sequences. I hear that from critics and my mind goes "perfect summer popcorn movie!"

Chicago Tribue (1.5 stars)

Nobody's looking for anything other than relentless, brainless action from this sort of movie, but Bay, whose best junk came early with "Bad Boys" and " The Rock," offers nothing but visual and aural chaos. Your eye instinctively flees to the far corners of the screen for some relief from the computer-generated mayhem.
USA Today
Bigger, louder, longer and more metallic is definitely not better. Where the first movie was a happy surprise, a comedy with engaging characters and spectacular action-filled escapades, the sequel lacks wit, charm, subtlety, restraint, humanity and clever dialogue. It has loads of spectacle but no soul. Though there are more special effects and new ways for machines to turn into 'bots, the story seems as if it's about to end at least three times.

Entertainment Weekly
(B)
Revenge of the Fallen has a number of dead spots, but every time the movie hits one, you can sit back in eager, childish anticipation of the next feat of industrial whirligig diversion. Revenge of the Fallen is slovenly, bombastic, overly busy, and — at two hours and 29 minutes — far too long. Each of these creature-gizmos has a marvelous, organic fluidity — they don't just move, they clank and roll. And it was an inspired touch to set the film's most ferocious battle amid the Pyramids, featuring a Decepticon so humungous it just about waddles with power. Revenge of the Fallen may be a massive overdose of popcorn greased with motor oil. But it knows how to feed your inner 10-year-old's appetite for destruction.
Roger Ebert
If you want to save yourself the ticket price, go into the kitchen, cue up a male choir singing the music of hell, and get a kid to start banging pots and pans together. Then close your eyes and use your imagination. The plot is incomprehensible. The dialog of the Autobots, Deceptibots and Otherbots is meaningless word flap. The human actors are in a witless sitcom part of the time, and lot of the rest of their time is spent running in slo-mo away from explosions, although--hello!--you can't outrun an explosion. The battle scenes are bewildering.

Transformers 2 Nearly Broke ILM

The rendering demands for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen were such that some ILM computers didn't not survive according to a new article from SciFi Wire. Sections below, full article here.

Visual-effects supervisor Scott Farrar was in charge of turning Industrial Light & Magic's computers up to 11 to create the new characters and told reporters that the sequel features 40 new characters. That and the increased resolution of the characters for new IMAX footage nearly exhausted ILM's render farms: After one hard night of rendering computer-generated footage, some of the hardware actually exploded. "We did, we lost some machinery that night," Farrar said in a press conference on last week in Beverly Hills, Calif. "Little puffs of smoke, just like in the movie."

The largest sequence in Revenge of the Fallen was also the biggest in ILM history: the climax in which Devastator tears apart one of the great pyramids in Egypt. "We're trying to hit new levels of realism in every single thing we do, whether it's the render of the robot or the physical environment that they're reacting with," Farrar said. "It's just like upping the game on every level, so it was a pretty complicated show."

To give you some sense of just how big Devastator is, Farrar said that Optimus Prime has 10,000 moving parts. The computer algorithms actually manipulate each part to go from truck to standing robot. Well, Devastator is made up of upwards of 80,000 parts. The only thing that saves time is the camera position. The animators only have to transform the parts that are visible on screen.

"Every shot is dressed to camera," Farrar said. "We have a lot of moving parts and a lot of pieces that are all finished up, but every single time that we set up a new camera position, the cameras swirls around to the back, and doggone it, there are some pieces that are unfinished. We have to repaint them and get them so they can be animated. They only move if we need them to move, so it's a logarithmic jump to try and get all those pieces to move, and it's all up to the animators, frankly, to lay down the movement first. We tried to free it up to be creative."

"Everything that we do in our world is all about the light," Farrar said. "It's not just building the robot, but it's about how it commingles with all the light sources. It might be ambient. If they're really deep in the water, how much light do we give them? How much internal lighting should they have? We had a lot of deep-sea underwater research photos that we looked at, and we sort of gleaned from that. How clear do we want to be? How much plankton and spinaci, we called it, floating in front of the camera do we want? All these little tricks to try and make you believe you're really underwater, we have to employ."

Another French Shia, Megan Interview

Below is another interview with Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox as they talk about the Transformers. They talk about being grateful for getting the job, working with the demanding Bay, and course how much bigger the second movie is over the first. Thanks to Adrien for the link.

Completed Luxor ROTF Advertisement

Last month I posted about the Luxor being fixed up as a giant billboard for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen but didn't really follow up on that. Thanks to Ben and his wife, they snapped some photos of the final product while in Las Vegas for their wedding (congratulations!). He points out "I did think it was odd that there was no promotion of the movie inside of the hotel itself and that the IMAX was closed. I thought it would have been cool to have the beam shining form the top of The Luxor, shine the Autobot logo in the sky like Bumblebee did in the first film."

A Note from Michael

Transformers 2 director Michael Bay added a new note to his forums about a recent experience on the promotional tour, watching the movie and IMAX and not to worry about critics.

Back from Moscow. Fresh from a visit to the former KGB, with second in command. He told me in his office I'm one of 10 American's, one being a President, to ever be allowed inside what is now called the FSB. The only reason was he heard I was in town and he is a fan of my films.

Last night with my crew I saw the IMAX version. Once you get used to the giant format and your eyes adjust, it's an awesome experience. I have been waiting until the film was final to judge, and I'm really pleased. You have to make a point to see it this way - It could be the very best way to see Transformers.

C'mon guys critics? Give me a break. Do you all have short term memory? They killed the first one, and it still became a world-wide smash. I made this for the you, the audience!

Michael

New Bootleg Transformers 2 Clips

Spoiler Warning! New clips from Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen has hit YouTube. Many of them are teases worthy of a commercial but regardless they do new portions of the movie including the Ice Cream Truck twins (and why they had a Decepticon symbol on their side), Prime's bad-ass introduction (the video below),

Since people are a bit sensitive to spoilers right now so below is my favorite clip of the group and I will link to the rest. That way if you choose to click them, it is all on you. Thanks to Mauricio for the videos.

Ice Cream Twins 1 | Ice Cream Twins 2 | Hello Prime
Run Forest Run | Ironhide Transforms

CGI Demolisher and Chromia

TFG2.com has posted new images of two Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen characters. One for Demolisher (or could be Scavenger) and the other for Chromia (one of the Arcee bikes). This one joins Rampage/Sideways, the Twins, Arcee 3, Megatron, combined Prime/Mixmaster, Scrapper and The Fallen.

Update: Thanks to Robert who pointed out that I forgot the third picture in the gallery. At this point not sure who is what, since this one could be blue or could be purple. Regardless, very odd and ugly.

Full ROTF Soundtrack Available To Sample

On the eve of the release of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen Soundtrack (and score and video games), ShockHound.com is making the entire album available for you to listen to. How long it will last I don't know but probably not much after midnight tonight eastern. In addition, they seem to have the best price yet for the track with a price of $6.99 to pre-order the download (but I don't know if this site has copy protection restrictions).

To listen, click here.

Chinese Transfans Share Their Love

In celebration of the release of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen in China, Transfans organized a drive in the streets of Beijing with their cars, each of which is sporting a Bumblebee styled paint job. The make and model didn't matter, just the colors of yellow and black. The event was organized by Autohome.com.cn.

Click here and here for a large gallery of the event and the sea of Bumblebees. Thanks to Kaly and Mauricio for the links.

Burger King Transformers 2 Promotion Begins

Burger King has officially launched its Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen tie in promotion today. As part of the campaign, the chain has a "Transform Your Way" contest for prizes including $1 million, new BBQ Double Stackticon Burger, new advertising spots (apparently directed by Michael Bay), and 8 BK Kids Meals Toys. Click here for the press release with more details. Thanks to Andrew for the link.

In addition, the Kids Club website has updated to show off the new toys (that don't transform), provide link to redeem code that comes with the toys and has a new "Free Mission City" game to pay. Thanks to Paco for the link.

Here are the details on what Burger King has planned for the sponsorship:

· The Transform Your Way Game: The game gives restaurant guests a one-in-two chance of winning one of thousands of prizes, including $1 million, an all new Chevy Camaro 1SS, BURGER KING food items and more. Each game piece offers a prize under one of the two scratch-off areas, making every game piece a possible winner.

· Visit www.bktransformers.com for a chance to win $10,000: Visitors who register and enter their game piece codes on the site can search on a virtual globe for “King Robot,” who disguises himself as a stainless steel BK broiler. Each day, from June 22 to July 19, visitors will have the chance to win at least $10,000.

· The BK BBQ DOUBLE STACKTICON Sandwich: Like the original BK Stacker sandwich, the Transformers-inspired burger allows guests to stack multiple burger patties, bacon, sauce and cheese. It available for a limited time only at the suggested retail price of $2.79. The BK BBQ TRIPLE STACKTICON burger will also be available for a suggested retail price of $3.49, and the BK BBQ QUAD STACKTICON burger will be available for a suggested retail price of $4.29.
· TV Advertising: The spots will feature the “King Robot” who awards unsuspecting customers with cash as part of the “Transform Your Way” game. The kids-focused advertising, directed by the film’s hit director Michael Bay, features a group of kids who are waiting in a BURGER KING restaurant parking lot when they’re approached by AUTOBOTS.
· Kids Meal Toys: Each BK Kids Meal will come with one of eight Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen toys that bring the movie’s characters and vehicles to life. Based on scenes from the movie, toys like the “Change Up Bumblebee” and “Constructin’ Devastation” are available at participating BURGER KING restaurants while supplies last.

Target Ready for Blu-Ray

Talk about prepared; Target already has an entry ready on their website for the Blu-ray release of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen and the movie isn't even released yet. Sadly no release date but I would guess late October or November if the first movie is any guide. Thanks to Brian for the link.

Transformers 2 Number 1 in Japan and UK

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is off to an excellent start already making $20 million in the United Kingdom ($14.1M, 517 screens) and Japan ($5.8M, 329 sites), premiering at number 1 in both countries. According to the Hollywood Reporter, the sequel outperformed the first movie's opening weekend by 71% in the UK and 13% in Japan. Considering that Transformers 1 made $389 million in overseas sales (compared to $319.2M in the US), how well the movie does overseas is as important as the domestic sales.

Over at MichaelBay.com, they provide the same numbers but also provide context to last year’s top movie, The Dark Knight. In the UK the movie came within 3% of that movies first weekend total and in Japan it outperformed Knight by 64%. Just two more days!

ROTF Deleted Scenes On DVD?

The movie isn't even out and already plans are in the works for the DVD and Blu-ray release of the movie. According to Collider.com, when asked about how many minutes of deleted scenes, he said "we're figuring that out right now. It could be seven, eight." He was also asked a few questions about shooting for IMAX.

I then asked him if there was any thought of doing even more in IMAX? He said, “Yeah. I regret not shooting Petra in IMAX. The IMAX is very expensive. To make digital effects in IMAX is expensive. It’s a budget concern really.”

I then asked if he would use IMAX on all his future movies. He replied, “I don’t know. If the movie serves it, but I think it’s a neat idea.”

Megan Fox Talks Flower Kid

Apparently there is a picture (left) going around showing Megan Fox ignoring a kid trying to offer her a flower at I don't know what event (but probably Revenge of the Fallen related). Since people believe pictures far more than they should, I guess it’s painted her in a bad light so collider.com asked her about what happened.

Transformers: ROTF Final Scene

Spoiler warning! Below is the very last scene of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen that is a near mirror to the first movie with Optimus Prime staring into the distance and sending a message to space. His final line, "I am Optimus Prime and I send this message so that our past will always be remembered for in those memories we live on." Too bad they didn't get more of the cheering from the crowd. Thanks to Scorpio for the link.

Transformers: ROTF The Score on YouTube (Updated)

Update: Sadly the videos have been deleted so it looks like your going to have to hear during the movie or pick up the album at Amazon, iTunes or local store when it is released on June 23rd.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen The Score is on MovieMakerKid14's channel. All 14 tracks are available. I am not sure how long it will last so enjoy the opportunity while you can. Personally, I have already listened to the score and while it is strong in sections, overall it just doesn't work all that well (to me) as standalone music. It probably sounds great with the movie; it is unlikely I would fire up any tracks to listen to while doing other things anytime soon. Thanks to MovieMakerKid for permission and Kenney for the reminder. Below are the links in album order.

1) Prime
2) Einstein's Wrong
3) NEST
4) The Shard
5) The Fallen
6) Infinite White
7) Heed Our Warning
8) The Fallen's Arrival
9) Tomb of the Primes
10) Forest Battle
11) Precious Cargo
12) Matrix of Leadership
13) I Claim Your Sun
14) I Rise, You Fall

ROTF Theatrical Trailer #3 in HD

It took way longer than expected but the third theatrical trailer finally is available in HD. I have already posted various quality versions of this trailer including the version from yesterday with this exact video but decided a separate posted was needed. Thanks to joshuachacon7 for the reminder. Also check out moviestvspots channel has he is where most of the videos on the left hand column have been coming from for the last few weeks.

Theatrical Trailer #3

Berlin Premiere TV Special

About a week ago was the Berlin, Germany premiere of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen and sense then a TV special aired about the movie. Below are the two parts of the video which for obvious reasons is in German but some of the stars responses can be heard. If you don't speak the language it’s still good just to see the starts walking the carpet, fan reactions and things like that (Megan's red dress alone might be worth it to you). Thanks to David and Transformers Sci-Fi Guide for the links.

ROTF Megatron CGI Images (Updated)

TFG2.com has posted more CGI/art images of a Revenge of the Fallen character, this time fantastic images of Megatron in robot and tank mode. I don't really know where these come from, if there official art or not, but sure nice to look at.

Update: Thanks to Scorpio, below are three more images of Megatron.

More of Transformers 2 Voice Cast

Thanks to Carnivac (and also supported by TFW2005 thread), much of the voice cast for the various Transformers has been verified. Many of the robots in the movie don't have lines and it turns out some of the information we had was incorrect (not really surprised considering how little attention the voice cast gets).

I wish Paramount would release the credit list (like they did for Star Trek) so have something definitive to link to to clear up any probable confusion on who did what in the movie.

Likely voice cast: (but some not officially confirmed) (clicking their names brings you to their IMDB.com profile)
Arcee - Grey DeLisle (not Susan Blu)
The Fallen - Tony Todd
Jetfire - Mark Ryan (not John Turturro)
Mudflap - Reno Wilson
Skids & Wheelie - Tom Kenny
Soundwave & Devastator - Frank Welker
Sideswipe - Andre Sogliuzzo (not Jason Griffith)
The Doctor (Scalpel) - John DiCrosta
an ancient Prime - Kevin Michael Richardson
Demolisher - remains unknown

Its worth hitting up the profiles for these actors because of the long careers many of these actors have had. Even if you don't know the name, chances are you will recognize the face or their work. As far as Transformers connections, Kevin Michael Richardson voiced Omega Supreme in Transformers: Animated, Reno Wilson voiced Frenzy in the first movie; Mark Ryan also voices Bumblebee in the movies and Ironhide in the video game. Tom Kenny (other than being SpongeBob SquarePants) also voice Isaac Sumdac, Starscream, various Seekers, Scrapper and more for Transformers: Animated. Of course Frank Welker (G1's Megatron, Soundwave, Galavatron, Rumble and more) doesn't really need an introduction to Transfans but his storied career is massive and covers work you would have never had thought had anything to do with him.

Ramon Rodriguez on Jimmy Kimmel

Thursday night (or Friday morning really), Ramon Rodriguez kicked off the night show circuit for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen with an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live. Thanks to Maurcio, below is the video of the interview with the actor where he discusses working on the film, the stunts he participated in and his other movie The Taking of Pelham 123. Also turns out he is pretty good with basketball tricks.

Shia LaBeouf on Conan O'Brien

Shia LaBeouf appeared on the Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien Friday night June 19th to discuss Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. I figured Hulu would have video but Shia LaBeouf Video beat them to it. Shia discusses his recent world tour promoting the movie, and an interesting experience while on Even Stevens (a Disney show started on). As for the clip shown, it is the same as the MTV Movie Awards clip. Thanks to Mauricio for the links.

ROTF Scoring Session

Scorings Session has posted an article (via TFW2005) with gallery that shows off the scoring session for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. The score is from composer Steve Jablonsky and took place at the Sony Scoring Stage in Culver City, California with the 71-piece ensemble of the Hollywood Studio Symphony. Over 110 minutes of music had to be scored for the movie. The descriptions and 35 picture gallery of the session can be found here.

IMAX Brings Extra Minute of Footage and More

Apparently there was a Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen press conference at the Four Season in Los Angeles on Friday. The conference is probably part of the run up to the US premiere of the movie at the LA Film Festival on the 22nd. Attending was Michael Bay, Ramon Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Megan Fox, Josh Duhamel and Kevin Dunn.

As part of the Q&A, Michael Bay repeated his Obama story clarifying that Obama's "role" in the movie is he is mentioned as the current President of the United States. They also discussed Shia's continuing to work with the hand injury (and special hand cast that was built), Ramon Rodriguez separating a shoulder while filming (that Bay didn't know about), and that the IMAX cut adds about a minute of extra footage. The videos are from The DishRag (via MB.com). The conference seemed very relaxed but so far have not found video of the whole thing. Five videos below in the playlist.

ComingSoon has what is essentially a transcript of the press conference here.

Bay On Crew Screenings

I guess Transformers 2 director Michael Bay has been getting questions about when his crew gets to watch the final cut of the movie so he provided an answer on his website.

Press is asking about crew screeings

They seem to want to know about my crew screenings. Not sure why the press is interested? We had 2500 crew members from many parts of the US and some in the Middle East and London. We have an IMAX crew screening Sunday night. We have an ILM screening Monday night and Paramount invited some of my key crew members to the LA premiere I think Tuesday we are putting together a crew screening which is being planned at Paramount. Thursday we have an IMAX screening in Washington for the Pentagon people involved in the film. And we have one set up in Jordan. BTW the press is not invited.
Wow that is a lot of people that worked on that movie. The credits must go on quite a long time. I wonder what their reactions are when they see the finished product of all their hard work, and what happens if they don't like the result (with all that CGI many just had to imagine how it would go).

NY Times' Bay Interview

A new article with Michael Bay (via his site) from the New York Times discuss his approach to making Transformers and why he took on the franchise. Many of the questions are a retread from the first movie but there are a few new questions. Parts below, full interview is here.

And you created other characters that weren’t established in the toys, the comics or the animation?
We wanted to get into the deeper lore of it. At one point, I’d already been shooting the movie, and we were doing this scene in space. And I asked these Hasbro experts on Transformers, I said, “So, how are Transformers born?” And they kind of – dead pause. “I don’t know.” “What do you mean, you don’t know? Isn’t that one of the first things you figure out?” [laughs] So I created how they’re born.

How are they born?
They’re in a special sac. They’re called hatchlings. It’s quite nice.

You’re helping to design all these nice new toys for Hasbro. Do you get a percentage of the toys they sell that are based on your designs?
Well, I’m not allowed to say. But things that come from my mind are now becoming toys. But it gets touched by all these artists. There was a woman on the Hollywood Foreign Press tour, and she goes, “Michael, don’t you ever want to do a movie that’s more artistic?” I knew what she meant, but there was a poster of Bumblebee behind me, and I said, “There’s something to be done with a movie in the south of France, whatever, at a winery or a vineyard. But when you look at Bumblebee behind you, it took so many artists so much time. This is something that doesn’t exist in our world. And it has emotions now.” That’s a whole skill. So it is art in its own way. The thing that Ridley Scott always says, and I totally concur with him, his favorite thing to do as a director is to create a new world. That’s just what I love to do.

Life Size Fan Made G1 Bumblebee

A California man with a deep love of Generation 1 Bumblebee created a life size version that stands 18 feet tall in his yard. To check out the full article and gallery, click here. Thanks to Mike for the link.

“I’ve always been a fan of the Transformers,” Tom Rhoads Rhoads stated to the crew at mim. “And when my son was born I decided to make the statue.”

The statue stands at 18 feet tall and built from a used Volkswagen, yes that’s right a used Volkswagen, in this economy who can afford to chop up a new Camaro and besides some of us liked the cartoon characters better!

The statue took him and a friend a year to build in their spare time. A crane had to hoist the 1200 lb robot onto its feet after the welding was completed. Its legs are made of steel and angle iron to keep it secure.

ROTF The Game Exclusive Launch Trailer

Gametrailers.com has posted a new trailer for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen that shows of some of the game cinematics. Thanks to Chris for the link.

USA Today Shows Off Combined Prime

In a new article from USA Today, we get the first look at the combined Jetfire, Optimus Prime mode. The result appears to Prime on steroids. The article itself is about Transformers 2 production at Holloman Air Force Base and White Sands as they filmed the desert sequences that are the climax of the film. The long article is worth reading as I believe one parts describes the explosion put Bay in the Guiness World Record book. Snippets below, full article here. I get the feeling that being an observer on a Bay production for a few days would be a whole lot of fun. Thanks to Adrien and Chris for the link.

The filmmaker, then 43, is watching the action unfold on a bank of TV monitors. He's wearing an Autobot ball cap, pulled low to shade his eyes from the sun, and a Decepticon T-shirt, perhaps symbolic of which side of the robot battle is closest to his heart. Duhamel joins Bay to watch the replay. "This really is your sandbox," he tells the director. "And we are kinda like your toys."

Bay gives a smirk, but seems preoccupied by his screens. When the actor leaves, the filmmaker confides, in an uncharacteristically soft voice, a story from when he was a kid. "I made home movies that way," he says, still looking at the replays on the screen. "I'd do little firecrackers on the train set. … I actually set my bedroom on fire once." He smiles and rolls his eyes. "The fire department came. It was a little Super 8 movie where the aliens invaded."

After watching a scene in which Duhamel tries to rescue Fox from her hiding spot beneath a blown-out wall, Bay stops the action and runs out to coach the actor. "Take her hand this time. When you ran the last time, you ran away like a (expletive) girl and left her!" the director says. Duhamel sarcastically thanks Bay for the constructive criticism — in full view of a visiting reporter. Bay says to the journalist, in an even louder voice: "You'll be doing me a (expletive) favor if you print that!" Then laughs. Duhamel just shakes his head.

Mike Wever, the special-effects technician and bomb triggerman, surveys the explosive-planting. "Whatever Bay wants is what we try to give him," says Wever. "Sex is sex, dialogue is dialogue, but what people want is special effects. Bayhem, that's what it's called. That's what I like to call it. Whenever we do a Michael show, it's a new level of Bayhem."

Shia, Megan Talk Transformers in Paris

While in Paris (I think) Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox appeared on television show La Grand Journal on June 12. Shia LaBeouf Video website has posted the interview with the actors which has most of the questions in French but that answers (if listen over the translator) are in English. It is hard to hear the answers but the interview is amusing as its not all 10 minutes of the usual TF2 questions since I don't think the hosts had any interest in Transformers. Especially watch the second video as Shia and Megan are having a ball making up answers. Thanks to Mauricio for the link.

Cast on London Blue Carpet

Plejada, a Polish site (I think) has posted a video with brief interviews with the cast of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen at the London premiere as they walk the blue carpet. The interviews include Ramon Rodriguez, Shia LaBeouf, Tyrese Gibson, Michael Bay and Megan Fox. John Turturro was there but he did the press conference thing and generally appears to prefer avoiding the spotlight.

Click here to watch the video. Thanks to Hanna for the link.

New ROTF Clip - Kitchen Bots Attack

New clip from Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is now online fro a Danish website that shows more of the kitchen bots as the AllSpark fragments brings them to life and they start attacking Sam. The clip can found here or below. I spotted a blender, vacuum, microwave and toaster, what other kitchen appliances did you see transform? Thanks to Alex for the link.

London Premiere ROTF Press Conference

Below are five videos that show the press conference for the London premiere of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen on June 16th, 2009 that TheTransformers.net has posted. The conference was attended by Michael Bay, Shia LaBeouf, Megan Fox, and John Turturro. Overall it is pretty interesting as they discussed many different aspects of shooting the film such as shooting in Egypt, the special effects and Shia's various injuries. In also, I found more blue carpet footage of the cast.

I finally decided to do something slightly more useful with my YouTube channel and as part of that created a playlist for the 11 videos (5 for the conference, 6 for the blue carpet) as an alternative to posting all 11 at once which can get clunky. Give it a try and let me know if this works better. Thanks to Hitman450 for the link.

ROTF The Game Opening and Breakway Training Clips

The clips keep coming for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen The Game as two more have been found by Sideswipe80. The first clip shows the opening cinematic and a training stage for Bumblebee and the second clip has Breakaway undergoing his own training in the sky.

Transformers: BD-Live Breakdown

IGN.com has posted a detailed breakdown of the new Transformers content (in addition to existing content) that is appearing on BD-Live for Blu-ray owners of Transformers the first. Some of it has already made its way to Youtube. Thanks to Brian for the link.

Revenge of the Fallen Scene: "We're Gonna Die"
This intense scene begins with a car chase as Sam (Shia LaBeouf) and Mikaela (Megan Fox) are chased by a Decepticon in the form of a helicopter, which latches on to the car and carries them away. When it finally lets go, they break through a roof into a warehouse where another destructive robot finds them.

Revenge of the Fallen Scene: "Shanghai"
This scene follows Capt. Lennox (Josh Duhamel) and his team of soldiers (including Tyrese Gibson) through a military siege of a building in Shanghai where more robots in disguise are waiting.

Revenge of the Fallen Scene: "Adobe Hut"
Megan and Shia are trapped in a hut while Decepticons (including Constructicons and Ravager) search the desert outside. But their discovery of a tiny spy robot is their undoing. It ends with an impressive stunt as the two jump from the roof of the building as it's being torn apart.

"From the set of Revenge of the Fallen: Day 1"
An exclusive inside look from the first day of filming on location in Bethlehem, PA. As the crew sets up, they express their excitement for the beginning of the shoot. Director Michael Bay gives them a little pep talk before getting to work, telling them that this is "one of those movies that can really help make a lot of kids dreams around the world." He also brandishies a Nike shoe with the promise, "I'm going to be up all your asses." We also see some of the shooting of the first shot in the movie, which involves a motorcycle chase. There's also a few effects shots and some pretty fiery explosions. Basically, your average day on a Michael Bay set.

"From the set of Revenge of the Fallen: A Day in the Shade"
Described as "a comical look at the differences between Megan and Shia's on-set treatment," this is exactly as advertised. We see a few members of the crew holding umbrellas and fanning Fox with handheld fans, while LaBeouf stands in the sun, smirking at the camera. She protests that it's because she's dressed in a full leather jumpsuit. Uh-huh.

Transformers Deleted Scene: "Maggie and Glen Introduction"
A deleted scene introducing the characters played by Rachael Taylor and Anthony Anderson from the original film.

Transformers Deleted Scene: "Fig Death"
We see the deleted death scene of ACWO Jorge "Fig" Figueroa, played by Amaury Nolasco, from the original film.

Fly on the Set: Pentagon
On the set filming of the Pentagon Military Command Center.

Music and Mayhem
Renowned special effects house ILM deconstructs the blockbuster action of Transformers.

Bay Not Quitting Transformers 3

Over at MichalBay.com forums, the man himself responds to the press report that he was quitting the franchise.

Hah,

Love press how they spin. Never said it - just wanted a vacation is more to the point. And no I don't read the good or the bad reviews.
What annoys me is how the blogosphere spread this press report without even bothering to pay attention to the fact that they never actually quoted him saying he was quitting. The article was full of quotes except for the most critical part which should have been a huge red flag. Makes me wish I had got hold of the story before going to bed, just to make the "I told you so" more satisfying. Thanks to Kenney and Ali for the heads-up.

Transformers Movie Stills

More movie stills have been released to the web by Paramount, this time many of them focused on the real stars of the Revenge of the Fallen, the Transformers. Below are the new images to me. The cool Twins image to the left is from IESB.net, to get the full huge HD image, click here. The first two images below are from the GM Autobot site and the rest of the images were found in IGN's TF2 Gallery. In addition, MichaelBay.com has posted a zip file of all the new wallpaper that was added to the official website, click here for that. Thanks to Captainclueless, Chris, Adrien, and Brian for all the links.

Remix of The Touch in Transformers ROTF?

MTV has posted an amusing video that shows Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen star Shia Labeouf singing the Touch and saying "There is a remix and its in the movie. Who would have thought that. I have been fighting that since forever. It's one of may favorite songs of all time." Did Stan Bush's efforts pay off? I will believe it when I hear it next week.

CGI Twins Images

TFG2.com has posted another set of CGI images of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen characters, this time for Mudflap and Skids. Overall, I am not much of a fan of their design but maybe that will change after seeing what ILM does with them.

Bay's Film Weekly Interview

MichaelBay.com has posted a six and half minute sound interview from The Guardian with Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen Director Michael Bay with Film Weekly. Nope this doesn't not cover the baseless rumor that he is quitting the Transformers franchise but he does once again say he does want to try other genres beyond blockbuster films. Since only sound, I shrunk the box down, just click play in the middle.

As for the interview, he covers comparison made with Jurassic Park, core themes (sacrifice and heroism), the pressures of dealing with such a big budget film and working on budget. He also said the marketing campaign is budgeted at $100M so the cost of the film is $300 million. The ballpark figure for a studio to reach profitability on a film is the cost of the film x 2 so once the film break $600 million, the profits begin. Thanks to Brian for the link.

GM Provided 67 Vehicles for Transformers 2

In an article with USA Today, Bay and GM briefly discussed the relationship between the two as GM provided the production with 67 cars total that was a combination of prototype, concept and real cars.

"They were responsible for building the cars, and I was trying to get my check because we built the cars, fronted them the money, and they were late on paying us," Bay says. "I was like, 'We better get our check fast before they go bankrupt.'

Chevy won't reveal what it cost to provide cars, but spokesman Steve Janisse says 67 vehicles were used, and 52 of those were "non-salable," specially built prototypes used for testing, engineering and display.

While participating in a movie may seem counterintuitive given GM's hardships, the company says Transformers could be a big help. "Although we've significantly reduced spending around all promotions, and in this case we did not pay any placement fee, we still need to market and sell cars and trucks," Janisse says. "We know this is a good investment — that it interests people in Chevrolet and ultimately drives people to check out our vehicles."

Most of the 22,000 2010 Camaros put on the market last month were pre-sold, Janisse adds, with interest fueled by the design's use as Bumblebee in the 2007 film.

Bay says the cars themselves become like celebrities, something he witnessed while shooting in a remote part of the Middle East. "The money they spend is pennies for the amount of goodwill. Bumblebee is one of the most famous cars in the world," the director says. "Literally, we're in this poor little town in Jordan, and all these kids surrounded (the car). They all knew Bumblebee's name."

Viral: New Transformer Sightings

The Transformers 2 viral websites TheRealEffingDeal and GiantEffingRobots have added more Transformer sighting that have been caught on camera.

Robot in Egypt - As the image shows, the shadow of a robot indicates something is inspecting the top of the pyramids in the Valley of Kings, Egypt.

BD-Live Transformers 1 Deleted Scenes

The first scene shows the final fate of Fig (Amaury Nolasco) and the second is a scene between Maggie (Racheal Taylor) and Glen (Anthony Anderson) as she gets to work just before the meeting with the Defense Secretary (Jon Voight). Thanks to Teddy from allocine.fr.

Bay Quitting Transformers 3? No

Update: To no surprise, Michael Bay is not quitting Transformers 3.

According to Total Film, Michael Bay is finished with the franchise (yeah right).

Hollywood directors, start writing your CVs now. Michael Bay has said that he will not be returning for Transformers 3, should Paramount decide to make it.

“It's easy to go shoot an art movie in a winery in the South of France,” he said. “But people have no idea how hard it is to create something like Transformers.

“They (the critics) review me before they've even seen the movie."

It seems like a strange time in his career to be worrying about what the critics think, but it seems Bay’s mid-life crisis is genuine.

He adds, "After the three and a half years I've spent making these movies, I feel like I've had enough of the Transformers world.

"I need to do something totally divergent, something without any explosions."
Here is the thing to pay attention to. First the source is WENN whose function is to essential funnel crap from papparazzi to the public so accuracy isn't a priority. Second, his statements are similiar to what he has been saying for a while now about needing a year break before returning for the third film, which is why there are two potential release dates floating around - July of 2011 or 2012. Third, notice that they didn't actually quote Bay himself saying he was quitting. They just stated it. His actual quotes are complaining about the critics.

If he said 'I am not making Transformers 3' there would have been quotation marks around that statement. So until he is quoted (preferably on his website or on video), I am taking it with a grain of salt. I am not saying the Bay will not quit, that is always a possibility with Hollywood types, but I think the main reason he may not return is if Paramount refuses to give him a year break he is asking for. Its like with the movie spoilers, until its proven from official sources, its all speculation. Thanks to Thirston and Florian for the link.

Transformers 2 The Game on Justin.TV

Update: The live play of the game is finished. From what I saw it was a multi-hour play through the entire game as the Autobots. Of note is the game seems to have levels that are just boss fights where you are fighting the enemy (say Devastator, Seekers, Grindor, etc) while fighting weaker minions at the same time and staying alive. Victories were often anti-climatic with a quick cut to the villian's death and then the level achievement screen. Sadly I got distracted and missed what turned out to be near the last level when play as Jetfire and the merge of Jetfire and Optimus against the fallen so no clue how the ending was.

Over at justin.tv someone is live-casting playing Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen The Game for the 360. I don't know how long its been up or how long the video will show the game. Click here to watch. Thanks to Jeff for the heads-up.

Another Human Alliance Bumblebee Review

We already had one review of Human Alliance Bumblebee but Peaugh has posted his own. It gives you a better look at Sam Witwicky figure and confirms that Bumblebee is about the size of the BinalTech/Alternator line. Since BT/Alt is my favorite line after G1, the Alliance class is close enough to it to make it a buy for me (especially Sideswipe).

U.S. Official ROTF Site Updated

The official site for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen has had another update. Once you click to enter the site, it goes full screen automatically. After loading you can see a full CGI representation of Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, and Starscream that pose depending on what section you navigate to. For navigation assistance, Soundwave as a satellite first seen on the UK site is in the top right.

The site has the trailers and six TV spots, various movies stills already released to mainstream websites, links to three activity sites such as We Are Autobots, and more. Thanks to Chris for the heads-up.

Two More Video Game Clips

Two more clips for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen The Game from Gametrailers.com. The first clip shows some gameplay as Sideways with a brief look at his sniper ability and also shows off more of the Devastator level. The second clip shows a level I think we have seen before but this time it is playing as Optimus Prime.

Also below is a video found by Teddy that has the sound from the BD-Live clip involving Grindor capturing Sam and company. Anyone able to identify the kitchen bots? I know of a microwave, toaster, and vacuum but seems like there are two or three more in the Bumblebee spot.

Transformers 2 Outselling Star Trek (Updated)

In an article from Superherohype, pre-sales of tickets for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is outselling JJ Abrams' Star Trek and the first Transformers movie.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen doesn't open till next week (June 24th), but as of this morning, the film already represents 45% of ticket sales on Fandango, the nation's leading moviegoer destination.

"For nearly two years - since the last Transformers opened - this new movie has been one of the most highly-anticipated films among fans on our site," says Rick Butler, Chief Operating Officer of Fandango. "Tickets for the new Transformers are already selling fast, so moviegoers should plan on buying their tickets in advance, as many showtimes are certain to sell out next week."

Fandango has surveyed nearly 2,000 moviegoers planning to see Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. Among the findings:

* 88% of respondents said they are fans of director Michael Bay; 66% of them picked Transformers as their favorite Bay film.
* 77% of respondents say they were fans of Transformers when they were kids; 68% of those fans watched the cartoon series, while 61% played with the toys.
* 45% picked Optimus Prime as their favorite Transformer; 21% picked Bumblebee; 4% picked Megatron.
* 62% of respondents are 18-34 years old; 63% are male.

In a separate survey on Fandango, 36% of moviegoers picked Transformers star Megan Fox as the sexiest female star of the summer.
Considering the expectation that Revenge could make as much as $175 million in the states alone I can't say I am surprised. Currently Star Trek is the number one movie in the states with a $233M and worldwide total sits at 4th with $351.9M total after 40 days of release. Angels & Demons is the current worldwide box office king with a $440.7M total after 33 days of release. My prediction is Transformers 2 to blow by Star Trek's worldwide total by the 7th day of release and surpass Angels by the 13th day.

Side note, feel free to the Fandango links on this blog to order your tickets if ordering online.

Update: Movietickets.com also released a brief bit of info on how Transformers 2 ticket sales are doing on their website.
As of today, U.S. ticket sales at MovieTickets.com for “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” are outpacing ticket sales for “Transformers” by almost 3-to-1 at the same point in the sales cycle – eight days prior to each film’s release.

Interestingly, IMAX ticket sales at MovieTickets.com for “Transformers 2” account for close to half of all ticket sales for the film.

ROTF The Game Art Director, Producer Interviews

Below is supposed to be interviews with Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen The Game Art Director Justin Thomas and Producer Jason Ades from GameTrailers.com. What I hear is loud music and no words while mouths are moving. Maybe it’s just my browser but if it doesn't work for you, at least get to see more game play footage. Thanks to The Chief and v1p3rs for the link.

Transformers 2 Fun Facts

Over at MichaelBay.com, there is a new article that provides a bunch of impressive facts about Devastator, CGI effects and other stats in regards to making Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. Memorize and annoy your friends by spouting these facts while watching the film :P

Robots
- 14 robots last time, 46 robots this time (ILM only)
- If you had all the gold ever mined in the history of man, you could build a little more than half of Devastator.
- Devastator’s hand is traveling 390 miles per hour when he punches the pyramid.
- The pyramid destruction simulation was 8 times bigger than the old rigid simulation all-time record holder at ILM.
- All robot parts laid out end to end would stretch from one side of California to the other, about 180 miles
- Devastator’s parts stacked tip to tip would be as tall as 58 empire state buildings.
- If all the texture maps on the show were printed on 1 square yard sheets, they would cover 13 football fields.

Disk space
- TF1 took 20 Terabytes of disk space. Trans2 took 145 Terabytes. Seven times bigger!
- 145 terabytes would fill 35,000 DVDs. Stacked one on top of the other without storage cases, they would be 145 feet tall.

Rendering times
- If you rendered the entire movie on a modern home PC, you would have had to start the renders 16,000 years ago (when cave paintings like the Hall of Bulls were being made) to finish for this year’s premiere!
- A single IMAX shot in the movie (df250) would have taken almost 3 years to render on a top of the line home PC running nonstop.

IMAX
- Optimus Prime will be life size on IMAX screens in many forest fight shots.
- IMAX frames take about 6 times longer than anamorphic to render.
- IMAX frame render times: As high as 72 hours per frame!

ILM screen time
- ILM Screen Time is about 51 minutes.

Devastator
- Devastator is as tall as a 10 story building.
- Devastator has more than 10 times the number of individual parts found in an average car.
- Laid out end to end, Devastator’s parts would be almost 14 miles long.

Devastator totals
- Number of geom pieces: 52632
- The total number of polygons: 11,716,127
- The total length of all pieces: 73090 feet
- The total length of all pieces: 13.84 miles

Bay: Obama in Film

From Digital Spy, Michael Bay had a chance to meet US President Barack Obama and learned that he admires his work. Thanks to Chris for the link.

Bay said: "The Obama thing? I met him in an airport where he was carrying his bag by himself and we talked about movies and apparently he likes my movies. So I figured we'll just put him in."

The director joked that he was able to include the up-to-date reference because he had only completed making the film last Wednesday [6/10].
I should add that this doesn't mean that Obama filmed a scene; it just means that the movie makes a reference to him or maybe uses TV footage to indicate he is the current president in the movie. Since most movies were filmed last year (before the election) they normally wouldn't be able to make that kind of reference but since Bay didn't finished editing until last week, he had more flexibility to add that in.

Transformers 2 In Guiness

Turns out that when Michael Bay said the movie would be bigger, he wasn't kidding as the production of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen has entered the record books according the New Zealand Herald (via MB.com) as Bay and company talk about making the film. Thanks to Chris for the link.

Bay has made it into the Guinness Book of Records for the biggest explosion on film with actors present. That shot was filmed in New Mexico. Some have likened the film to that of a "war movie," to which Bay disagrees. "No, it's just more adventure and action. There are also more robots and they can do more things, but it's not a war movie."

"On the first Transformers we used real service people, not actors. With this one, we used every service - the navy and the army. Actually, after the first Transformers there was an increase in signing up for the military. It's almost like a big commercial to enlist in the army," says Bonaventura.

"I take you to places that have never been shot in a movie. The top of Petra has never been put on film, period. King Abdullah II let us take 36 helicopter loads of military men up there. We were able to use a crane, so we take the viewer on aerial shots of the pyramid that even National Geographic never got permission to do," he says. "They've all tried," he says again, making his point. "When John Turturro was filming on the pyramid, he had a tear in his eye. I said, 'Why are you crying? What's going on?' He said, 'You just don't get to do this in movies. You don't get to shoot in a place that's 4000 years old."' So, how was the big shot from Hollywood able to convince Middle Eastern royalty to let him have his way? "Because I'm a smooth talker," he jokes. "No, seriously, the Prince and the King of Jordan were big fans of Transformers. That helped."

"When we landed in Jordan or Egypt, Shia and I shared one car with the driver who was also the security guard. Michael's car was flanked by six other security vehicles to make sure he got to the hotel safely," she says. Now you can see why he's regarded as a rock star. Fox adds, "It was like they were driving the president."

Transformers 2 Moscow Premiere Videos

Next stop on the Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen promotional train was Moscow, Russia for the premiere held on June 16th. Below are five videos of Bay and company walking the carpet. Megan Fox continues to show remarkable consistency with style something that Hollywood starlets tend to fail at. Also a rare video appearance from Tyrese Gibson and Josh Duhamel as they appear to be enjoying themselves and joking around. I am not sure what location is next as the US premiere isn't until June 22nd but I assume any day now the cast will start appearing on stateside talk shows to promote the movie.

Film Journal Talks Metal with TF Writers

I guess Transformers I and II writers Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci have recovered from their two month promotional tour for Star Trek as Film Journal (found on TFW2005) has posted a new article about the duo. Unless they are prepping the help with The Proposal which they produced. Anycase, much of the article covers ground tread before in other interview over the last year about looking at other sequels for inspiration, writing a story with an emotional core, getting locked in hotel rooms with Ehren Kruger after the strike, and so forth. The entire article can be found here.

"For us, the action always emerges from the characters; the audience tunes out random action scenes that don't move the plot forward or take the characters in some new direction," Kurtzman says. "So in Revenge of the Fallen, there are several sequences that we pitched to Michael in detail as part of the characters' stories and he ended up shooting them almost exactly as we pitched them. Of course, he also comes up with great ways to embellish the sequences and no one is better at that than he is."

That information will come in handy as the duo makes their long-planned transition to directing. "The plan is to find the right film for us to direct in the next couple of years," Orci reveals. "We're happy being the guys that write the words, but we want to try everything. It's possible that we'll each direct our own projects, but we might be too jealous of what the other is doing and so we'll both have to do it!" While neither claims to have a dream project right now, there is one franchise that Orci says he's hoping to see realized on the big screen someday. "I'd love to see [Nintendo's] The Legend of Zelda done right."

More Revenge Interviews from ET

Entertainment Tonight (ET) has released its third video interview in a series (one, two) of whenever they run out of footage. This time we get a little bit from Tyrese Gibson as he talks about nicknames for Bay (Boom Boom Bay-ster) and Megan Fox (Foxy). Thanks to Katie for the link.

We Are Autobots Site Launches

Paramount Pictures has launched a new website for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen called We Are Autobots. The site uses something called "Augmented Reality" that makes use of your webcam to interact with the website. Below is the press release that explains it better then I can.

PARAMOUNT LAUNCHES TRANSFORMERS AUGMENTED REALITY EXPERIENCE – WE ARE AUTOBOTS.COM

To promote the international release of TRANSFORMERS: REVENGE OF THE FALLEN, Paramount Pictures International (PPI) is making ground-breaking use of augmented reality (AR) and face tracking technology to give Transformers fans the opportunity to picture themselves with the original 3D CGI head of Optimus Prime.

Visitors to We Are Autobots can also find a hidden holographic message from Bumblebee featuring an exclusive montage of Decepticon footage from the new movie. TRANSFORMERS: REVENGE OF THE FALLEN is released in the UK and Ireland on June 19th and internationally on June 24th 2009.

‘We Are Autobots’ has been developed using the original 3D models of Optimus Prime and Bumblebee that appear in the film. It was developed for PPI by creative marketing agency Picture Production Company (PPC), working in conjunction with augmented reality specialists Total Immersion.

More Reviews; Variety Confirms Todd As Fallen?

Variety has posted its review of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen from the London premiere of the movie. As part of that, they posted a partial cast list that seems to confirm that Tony Todd is the voice of The Fallen. It also shows that Anthony Anderson voices Jolt. While Todd's deep voice is perfect for Fallen, not sure about Jolt who I don't think even has lines in the movie so I can't help but wonder if Variety's list is from IMDB which is not 100% accurate. Thanks to Jennie for the link and Carnivac for the reminder.

Now on to few more reviews.

Variety Review

With machines that are impressively more lifelike, and characters that are more and more like machines, "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" takes the franchise to a vastly superior level of artificial intelligence. As for human intelligence, it's primarily at the service of an enhanced arsenal of special effects, which helmer Michael Bay deploys like a general launching his very own shock-and-awe campaign on the senses. Otherwise, little seems new compared to the first installment, except that this version is longer, louder, and perhaps "more than your eye can meet" in one sitting. It will reap similar B.O. rewards worldwide.

But the true stars here are the Transformers themselves, who continually steal the spotlight from the flesh-and-blood cast, even in scenes of tragic death or comic relief usually reserved for real actors.
The Hollywood Reporter
With its intelligence at the level of the simple-minded, however, the film is not likely to attract moviegoers who seek something more than a screen filled with kaleidoscopes of colored metal. Fan boys will no doubt love it, but for the uninitiated it's loud, tedious and, at 147 minutes, way too long.
Empire Online (3/5)
Devastator..lumbers up the dusty colossus, a shot tilts up to its mid-section, revealing two wrecking balls dangling down. Yes, Michael Bay...has one-upped himself: Decepticon testicles. If the thought of that gag makes you laugh, chances are you’ll have a ball with Revenge Of The Fallen. If not… well, Bay really doesn’t care. His first and only sequel since Bad Boys 2 is, like that film, marked by swaggering confidence, wild excess and a string of bad-taste jokes. ...The plot, meanwhile, is as baffling as before, not only bringing back the abstruse Allspark but throwing in a new MacGuffin called the ‘Matrix of Leadership’. It tries harder to be funny but is actually less so.

What saves it, just about, are the effects. At times the frame is so packed with whirring cogs and twirling cranks that you could replicate the effect by staring at the innards of a domestic appliance, but when these CG moto-men from another world duke it out, the images are often so screwy it’s impossible to do anything but sit and stare. The Shanghai-set opening sequence is lunatic fun, with Optimus Prime leaping onto the face of a colossal, rampaging unicycle and ordering it to, “Pull over”. And while Prime’s later forest face-off against a trio of Decepticons suffers by comparison to a recent film’s spar between a big ape and three dinosaurs, there are more flawlessly rendered money shots in the last 40 minutes alone than in a dozen less ambitious blockbusters.

ROTF Berlin Premiere Video

From serieasten.tv is a news report from the Berlin Premiere of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen on June 15th (or 14th not sure). Most of the report is in German, but the responses to questions to the actors and Bay is in English. Shia talks about growing up on Transformers ("the male Barbie") and GameBoy. Personally I like the huge fragmented Decepticon symbol you see in the background in some shots. I previously posted links to pictures from the event here.

Sadly no option to embed, so click here to view the video.

ROTF Game Multi-Player Walkthrough

A new walkthrough video from GameTrailers.com for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen The Game. This time it’s the player as Starscream as he takes on other plays in the multi-player mode. It almost makes me want to buy a current gen system to get the game. Mostly a Wii-man myself but due to the graphics, this game is something you either get for the 360 or PS3 or don't bother to get at all. Thanks to v1p3rS for the link.

Megan Fox "Transformed"

Another article about the lovely Megan Fox this time more of an "analysis" of how she says she wants one thing (a little privacy) while supposedly saying things that guarantees she will not get it (by daring to answer questions honestly). If you live in Hollywood you want some attention as that is how to stay on the public radar even when not working but the goal is just manage it as much as possible (Lohan is an example of when you don't manage it).

Acting wise, I am not a big fan of Fox, but this article seem petty and odd article designed for attention rather then reporting from ABC that is heavy on speculation and light on facts. To read it click here (just to do my part in getting them attention). Thanks to Brian for the link.

Third Arcee Revealed (Updated)

It took long enough but finally the third Transformers of the Arcee trio has been revealed. The image from TFG2 is of the purple bike that a MV Agusta USA designed bike. For the movie, Arcee is one personality spread over three bikes. The individual naming is for the toys, probably to make it less confusing to kids. What that third toy name is for purple Arcee has not been revealed. Thanks to Adrien for the link.

Update: I could have sworn I posted the Arcee bio before but I can't seem to find it so here it is from TFW2005. Of note, the bio suggests Arcee is one bike, not three. Thanks to G0M3Z for the link.

Deluxe Arcee Bio

Arcee jumped at the chance to join up with Ironhide and the other Decepticon hunters on Earth. She proved such an effective warrior that she was quickly given command of her own strike team, made up of robots similar to her in attitude and design. together with the Autobots she leads, she stalks the Decepticons in silence, creeping close enough to look them in the optics before she strikes.

BD-Live Revenge of the Fallen Scene

As previousily posted, the new BD-Live content for the first Transformers Blu-ray disc is now live. As part of that, there where three new clips. I believe the first two was Wheelie vs Mikaela and NEST vs Demolisher. This one found on TFW2005 is Sam and company getting captured by Grindor.

WARNING, while the video is fine the sound is a very irritating noise so turn the volume down before playing. I figure you would rather have the video with aweful sound then nothing at all.

More ROTF Toy Galleries

Below are links to a bunch of new Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen galleries that TFW2005 has posted. All are toys we have seen before but just lots more images to check out. Picture to the left is Legends Fallen found here.

Scout Dune Runner - Large gallery of the non movie character toy and compared with other scout class toys.
Voyager and FAB Grindor and Scorponok - The Blackout repaint in grayish white with a new head mold that makes an appearance in the movie as a means of trying to get hold of Sam and company. Includes comparisons of the two toys along with repaint of Scorponok.
Knockoff ROTF - For your amusement, follow the link to check out knock off versions of Demolisher, Breakaway, and Depthcharge (but created at Voyager size scale).

Isabel Lucas ROVE Interview

Isabel Lucas was on Australian show ROVE last week to promote Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. She answers the usual questions about getting the job (help from Spielberg), working with Bay (challenges his actors) and how to run in heels. In addition, click here for a short, humor segment she participated in. Found by Deefuzz.

Blu-Ray Extra Features Now Live

According to Relentless (thanks), if you have Transformers on Blu-ray, the extra features and sneak peak at Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is now up on BD-Live. The features include a new scene from ROTF, new documentaries and Transformers I cut scenes. Exactly how you access it BD-Live is something you will have to work out for yourself as I don't have a Blu-ray player. As for DVD owners, I know my copy didn’t come with an online code so not sure how that is going to work out. I am hoping the extra features will make their way to YouTube.

Scalan15 adds that if your having a problem find the new content, "you need to delete the prior transformers BD Data file, once you delete that and start the disc up it should work."

Update: From Aaron comments, most of the features are not new. As for the new scene, it what takes place after their adventures with Alice and before the The Doctor may or may not torture Sam.

"Sam, Mikaela and Leo are driving away from something (picks up mid-scene, so no idea what's going on). An Mh-53 picks them up, no markings to indicate if Blackout/Grindor (it's fast), drops some sort of hook on them, lifts them airborn to drag away. This leads to the scene we've seen many times with a car rotating in mid-air with Sam holding on for dear life from the passenger door. It goes on to imply they've been flown a long distance to a warehouse where the car is dropped from a height of 50+ feet, crashes thru the glass roof of the building, lands on concrete and immediately settles on the roof of the car, the airbags deploy. Then the scene we've seen several times of a saw blade opening up the car and Starscream overlooking the newly opened insides of the car. Never shows if anyone gets out OK or runs away."

Dead End, Ice Cream Truck Twins In Package

The Arker (found by Mach) has posted images of Deluxe class toys Dead End (Sideways repaint) and the Ice Cream Truck Twins in their packaging. No backing so no bio information.

I think I am going to add the Twins to my very short list of Revenge of the Fallen toys to buy. So far I have bought Sideswipe which I highly recommend for that rare combo of awesome vehicle and robot mode and do not recommend getting Rampage which is a clunker of a robot mode.

Human Alliance Sideswipe Images

The other day we got a look at the re-designed Human Alliance Bumblebee and now below from TFormers is the first look at Human Alliance Sideswipe with Sergeant Epps toy. Out of all the Revenge of the Fallen toys so far, Deluxe Sideswipe has been the one I have liked the most and this one looks like a bigger, better version so this might be a buy for me (but will wait for the video review to verify). No clue when this toy will be released.

Arcee and Sideswipe Voice Actors

Chris (who has provided TF news in the past) is reporting that he has learned that Susan Blu is the voice of Arcee and Jason Griffith is the voice of Sideswipe in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. Oddly enough, despite all the premieres, the voice actors is something no one is catching so don't have direct proof. However, both are experienced voice actors with a long list of credits.

Susan Blu has multiple Transformers ties. The primary for Transfans is the voice of Arcee in the animated Transformers: The Movie and the third season of the TV series and also did a voice in Beast Wars, and reprised Arcee for Transformers: Animated. She was also voice director of Beast Wars and TF: Animated. Jason Griffith is most notable for his role as Sonic for the cartoons and video games and this would be his first work for anything Transformers related.

CGI Rampage and Sideways

From TFG2, below are a few images of Rampage (red in movie) and Sideways in CGI along with their real world counterpart. Rampage is apparently in his jackhammer mode. Overall they look pretty good.

ROTF Berlin Premiere

The world tour for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen premieres continues. The last few stops after Seoul have been Spain, Rome, Paris, and now Berlin. Tomorrow is London followed by Moscow. Below is video found by MichaelBay.com of Bay, Shia Labeouf, and Megan Fox as they walk the Berlin red carpet.

For pictures from the Paris premiere, click here. Bay's site also has a few pics from the various premieres here. Megan Fox continues to look outstanding at each premiere proving that over the top dresses are not necessary to look good on the red carpet. I can't help but wonder how many signatures the main trio will sign before all is said and done.

Early Revenge of the Fallen Reviews

Between the various premieres in Tokyo, Seoul, Spain, Paris and the sneak peak in London, more then a few critics have now posted their reviews of the film. Something to keep in mind is that for a popcorn/action flick like Transformers 2 the goal is excellent audience word of mouth. The critics are mostly irrelvant as most tend to pan action flicks that have no goal beyond providing entertainment for a few hours. Regardless, it is still interesting to read what mostly UK critics have to say. Thanks to Ian, Chris, and Gregory for the links.

Total Film (4/5)

Fallen so frequently approaches the first pic’s all-out awesomeness, and even occasionally surpasses it - notably in an opening blitzkrieg in Shanghai and a forest face-off between Optimus Prime and three Decepticons impressive enough to merit comparison with King Kong’s multiple T-Rex smackdown - that it's this close to being the perfect summer flick. The problem is, it’s the parts you remember, not the whole.

Old folks may find the relentless sensory assault a little draining, but the bangs, ’bots and bombast ensure Fallen has everything Transformers fans will want and expect.
IGN UK Movies
the film reaches its pinnacle with one such action set-piece that takes place in a forest - a brilliantly crafted sequence that is kinetic, emotional and genuinely thrilling. Unfortunately however, it is a climax that comes only an hour or so into the movie - the remaining 80 or so minutes just never quite scale the same heights. That's the one BIG problem with ROTF; the movie stops dead halfway through, and then spends the rest of its overlong run-time building up a head of steam again, painstakingly setting up the eventual climax.

Don't get us wrong, we love Michael Bay and the particular grab-bag of delights only he can bring to blockbuster movies; huge explosions; quick, intense dialogue; lingering , pornographic shots of both girls' asses and military hardware. 90 minutes of Bay-ness makes for a thrilling flick, but if the clock starts ticking past the two hour mark and beyond, it all becomes just too much; your mind and senses need a rest.
Sci Fi Now UK 2/5
It’s paper-thin all the way through, with nothing in the way of characterisation or invention, just misjudged joke after misjudged joke (don’t be surprised to see a Constructicon’s testicles or a Decepticon humping Megan Fox’s leg), danger-less explosion after danger-less explosion and the sort of expositional exchanges that would make a ten-year-old wince. There are arguably one or two surprises but immediately these are followed up with the most formulaic, predictable plot-points, sucking the life out of any drama or tension there might be like a 200 foot vacuum-cleaner Decepticon, which, incidentally, does feature, as does a regular-size vacuum cleaner Decepticon. Troublingly, like so many other recent blockbusters (Terminator Salvation to name but one) there is so little that feels like a real threat: explosions are nothing more than decoration; all Transformers, both Autobot and Decepticon, are in dire need of an intensive training course in how to shoot; the much talked about Fallen comes across as little more than a computer-generated slouch; even Sam and Mikaela appear to be made of an indestructible, alien rubber alloy. ...the action is tediously unengaging and totally sterile, and nowhere near enough of a reward for the 40 minute bout of nothingness that precedes the final act.
The Mirror UK
In terms of explosions, firepower and sheer shrill, all-action, popcorn entertainment it is hard to see how this big'n'bold sequel can be topped this year.

Star Trek might have had more spaceships and aliens and Terminator: Salvation more grim-faced robots, but this Michael Bay summer blockbuster is pure mindless adventure mayhem that sticks firm and hard to its winning formula. In truth, it is a film for teen boys - and a bloomin' long one at that - but is also a guaranteed multiplex crowd pleaser.

Saying that, for the most part it is also a complex lumbering mess of a movie that is long on turgid backstory and short on tension, laughs and subtle acting.
Shiznit UK (4/5)
Here's the thing. Revenge Of The Fallen is a kids' movie; the secret to enjoying it as an adult is to unlock the ten-year-old within (and not the one in your cellar, bunnngg). It is, in common parlance, completely and utterly retarded. The juxtaposition between hardcore military war movie and shitty Saturday morning cartoon feels downright bizarre at times. You'll be creaming at the sight of the US army unloading their weapons on the enemy, only to feel a little ashamed when you remember their enemy is a race of evil alien robots who want to destroy the sun. Somewhere towards the end, when you realise the plot literally centres around magic dust, you'll feel ever-so-slightly silly for enjoying it.

In truth, Revenge Of The Fallen doesn't stray too far from the solid framework built in the first movie. It mixes superb action sequences – directed with panache and almost pornographic glee by a never-better Bay – with frequent scenes of light comic relief, some of which work (squabbling robo-hick siblings Skids and Mudflap provide a few laughs), some of which don't (Wheelie the RC truck humping Fox's leg). Naturally, the robots are the real stars again.

Marden's Nearly Dies In Copter Stunt?

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen co-star Matthew Marsden (SAS Graham in NEST) talks with Sunday Mercury about a helicopter stunt that nearly killed him in an interview on the eve of the London premiere of the movie. I assume this is a stunt filmed at Bethlehem Steel last June. Some of the article is below, click here for the entire thing. Thanks to Scorpio for the link.

“It was a nightmare,” recalls Matthew, speaking from his home in Los Angeles. “I had a very close shave when a helicopter crashed and missed me by a foot. I stepped out of the way a second before it hit the ground. The stunt went off too early, I should have been some considerable way away. I didn’t seriously injure myself, apart from shearing off one of my bottom teeth. There was a bit of blood, but my adrenaline kicked in so I didn’t feel it.

“I just remember the director, Michael Bay, shouting, ‘Oh my God! Everyone look at Matt!’. One of the crew rushed up and said, ‘Dude, do you have any idea how close that was?’. I said ‘As long as I look cool, I don’t care!’. People will probably think that it’s a computer-generated special effect, but I can assure you it was very real. It’s fine, I’m still here with all my fingers and toes, though not all my teeth.”

The Insider Shia Interview

Below is a video of The Insider talking to Shia Labeouf about Tranformers: Revenge of the Fallen and working with Bay. Information wise not a whole lot going on. Thanks to Scorpio for the link.

Lucas Talks Transformers

Isabel Lucas recently came out of hiding to appear at the world premiere of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen in Tokyo and spoke with Sky News from Australia about the experience of working on the film. Thanks to Scorpio for the link.

It is Lucas' first [press conference] and admits it's overwhelming. 'It's been a whirlwind,' she says. 'I've worked on five productions since Home and Away and this is the first one to be released, so I haven't ever experienced doing a press junket or a premiere, so this is like really being thrown right into the midst of it, into the deep end.'

Spielberg, who is an executive producer on the new Transformers movie, suggested her to director Michael Bay for the role of Alice after working with her on the HBO mini-series The Pacific, which he also produced. One successful audition later and Lucas had landed the biggest movie role of her career.

'I was really intrigued by the character because there is more than meets the eye - literally,' she says. 'She's a layered character, and that's interesting for any actor to play really something different from yourself and to understand and relate to her even though she might have darker intentions. She's fun to play.'

She describes one particular scene with LaBeouf which required an attention to detail that she'd never experienced before. The shot was so specific for a certain CGI effect that they were trying to achieve and the camera was about 30cm away and he (Bay) was like yelling at me so specifically to tilt my head down! Tilt it to the right! Tilt it down again! Now lift it slightly! But he really is an amazing visual genius, and the finished product you understand why he was being so specific with details.'

'They know that this genre of film is not really what I'm drawn to, I'm drawn to scripts that are unique and have meaning. But that's what is so wonderful about being an actor, is the diversity of the kind of films you can be a part of. I'm just honoured for the opportunity, and if it opens other doors career-wise I'll be very fortunate.'

Transformers London Sneak Peak Report, Spoilers

Earlier today, a few lucky Transfans around London got to go to a sneak preview of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. They were able to win tickets via various contests that Paramount UK was running. Blog reader Ali was one of those few and he provided the below pictures of the momento tickets he recieved for the occasion (thanks!). His report is mostly spoiler free but consider this a warning just in case.

Before the film started the lady briefly spoke about it and how were not able to put up a review up until Monday. She also mentioned we were the first to view the fully completed version; the one that was shown in Japan wasn’t fully complete.

Well first impressions it definitely packs a punch, jam packed in every sense - the story, action, definetly more robots, more humour but some of the humour was dragging a bit and not needed e.g. Sam's roommate Leon. The robots look awesome and you can actual see more detail in transformation, in particular keep an eye out (not that I think you'll miss it) for Ironhide's first transformation & Demolisher and also the fight scenes are much more detailed. Definitely glad I’m watching it at the IMAX and would recommend IMAX over regular cinema especially for this film, Michael Bay wasn’t lying. Those actual IMAX scenes are going to look AWESOME. The sound quality wasn’t as great and I’m mentioning this because there were times where I missed lines times & couldn’t understand what was being said, the Odeon cinema in Leicester Square is setup more like a theatre and kinda ol skool.

Things I can remember about the robots... everyone mentioned more or less is in the film, the twins start off as the ice cream trucks then they upgrade. Alice transforms. I remember seeing Bonecrusher, but no voiceover. More Decepticons come down but are not named; I can’t remember extra voiceovers for any Autobots or Decepticons. ...I know you'll enjoy it, everyone was clapping when the film was finished, I definitely am looking forward to going to watching it at the IMAX, you know what they say second times a charm.
In addition, Ali reports that three of the four IMAX scenes are the Demolisher scene, forest fight, and Devastator.

For those looking for more spoilers, below is a report from TFW2005. Thanks to Scalan15 for the link. Highlight to read.
To answer many frequent questions
- NO Barricade in movie
- No explanation why Megan Fox puts the white dress on and holds the flowers, just does it for no reason it would seem
- No explanation what the Twins reformat from the Ice Cream truck, they just do it in the hanger
- Bikes do NOT combine (you only see the rider ladies once and one bike is killed at end or badly shot)
- Optimus/ Jetfire combination NOT permenant, one whole booster ripped off fighting with Megatron and the Fallen. Prime tears rest off at battles end
- Jolt appears out of nowhere 1/2 way into film on the runway (as does Ratchet) and you old see Jolt one other time from what I could see. Never a main shot or close up of him. His hands sizzle electricity like the SW Emperor. He must have less than 5 seconds screen time
- There are LOADS of constructicons, after Devastator has combined you still see Mixmater and Long Haul loads, plus others
- Bonecrusher from 1st movie appears in truck mode
- You do see Soundwaves head but he never transforms. Voice is Welkers G1 Megatron voice
- The "Blackout/Grindor" bot is never explained, just appears, slightly different head to Blackout though
- Sideways only seen for robot for split second then back to car, then Sideswipe cuts him in half longways
- FINALLY a shot of Optimus turning into the truck!
- Megatron is a triple changer, you see him as robot, tank and a jet. Jet looked like tank but with flat wings, hard to see
- Mixmaster is triple changer, robot, truck and weapons platform. Uses platform mode twice at the end
- Shot of the protoforms arriving, some reused footage from first film. Some first film footage used with more prototforms added

Best Lines from the film
- The Twins "That hurt" - "It's an ass kicking, it's supposed to"
- The Twins "Maybe he's just a pussy!"
- The Twins when they see Devastator "Look at that mother f*BANG*"
- Jetfire (when hanger doors won't open) "Oh bollocks!"
- Jetfire "I'm too old for this crap!"

The good
- SUPERB Special effects, truely amazing
- The music score is great again, some lovely chior pieces
- Optimus is solid, really kicks ass - As does Bumblebee when he tries!
- Action, action, action!
- Some lovely moments between Starscream and Megatron

The bad
- Sam's mum getting stoned - Really annoying pointless scene
- Alice - Pointless character and waste of screentime
- And I am very, very, VERY sorry to say - Devastator. Totally pointless him being in the film. He doesn't get involved in the final battle and Simmons bringing him down is very WTF, by far Devastator biggest let down in movie
- When Sam dies and goes to Autobot heaven - WTF???

Stuff different from trailers
- Bumblebee never says "what is your purpose Sam" like in the Showest footage - I might be wrong about this one
- Some of the Showest sections are different takes in final film
- The military guy saying "Looks exactly like a truck" not in movie
End spoilers

Megan Fox EW Interview

In the current issue of Entertainment Weekly, cover girl Megan Fox talks Transformers, her career and dealing with her sudden fame. Below are some of the Transformers related segments with the full article here. Overall she seems to have her head on straight about the fame thing. Let us hope it doesn't start going to her head (which is hard to avoid when everyone is kissing your butt 24/7).

In addition, click here to see eight fantastic pics of the star. If the pictures are not enough, click here (or below) for a behind a scenes video of the shoot with voiceover of parts of her interview with the magazine. The team that is dressing, styling and doing makeup for Fox is these last couple weeks are doing excellent work, she has simple never looked better.

Transformers turned you into an overnight star. Looking back, how do you feel about the movie?
I'm terrible in it. It's my first real movie and it's not honest and not realistic. The movie wasn't bad, I just wasn't proud about what I did.

What was it like the first time you worked with him?
I was actually an extra on Bad Boys II [in 2003]. There's a club scene, and I was one of the club kids. I was in a stars-and-stripes bikini and a cowboy hat, dancing under a waterfall.

You're a bigger star now than when you did the first Transformers. Did they beef up your role in the sequel?
The humans are still secondary to the robots because it's a movie about robots. I feel like the part is adequate. I feel like we do something that's watchable on our end and then ILM makes it phenomenal.

You don't sound convinced that this is the greatest movie on earth.
It's not trying to be the greatest movie on earth. It's going to be the best action movie of the summer. Hands down, it will win that. But it's not trying to be a Golden Globe-nominated film. It's a badass popcorn summer movie.

You up for a third Transformers?
Sure. I mean, I can't s--- on this movie because it did give me a career and open all these doors for me. But I don't want to blow smoke up people's ass. People are well aware that this is not a movie about acting. And once you realize that, it becomes almost fun because you can be in the moment and go, ''All right, I know that when he calls Action! I'm either going to be running or screaming, or both.''

Transformers Stars, Writers Talk Trilogy

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen stars Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox along with the film's writers Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman talk about revisiting the film for a third time (for July 2012 release) as Bay is taking a yearlong Transformers break. Below is part of the article and also a video of interviews with Shia, Ramon, and Megan.

... said Megan Fox, "I'm really happy to have been a part of these films, obviously, and if they wanted me to come back for a third one, I would. I owe them," she laughed. "I owe them my career, really."

"I'd like to see some version of Galvatron," said Roberto Orci.. "I would like to see Unicron, too, and really anything that ends in the word 'ron.' Dinobots! I think, eventually, the Dinobots are going to have to happen."

Although some fans remember the dinosaur-shaped Transformers as being a bit cheesy, Orci doesn't see it as an obstacle. "I didn't say it was going to be my problem [to overcome as a writer]," he laughed. "But as a fan, I would like to see some Dinobots."

...Kurtzman and Orciaren't completely sure they'll be returning for "Transformers 3." "It's totally possible that, just for the benefit of 'Transformers' to stay cool and awesome, we should have to let new people come in and do it," Kurtzman said.

"I don't think [we'll make 'Transformers 3'] right away, but I wouldn't kill it either," LaBeouf explained, saying that just like Michael Bay, all the stars need a break from the giant robot franchise. "I don't think we're going to do one anytime soon. I think we all need a break from each other and a break from the project. We just need to collect ourselves and come back to it. They're hard to make, man."

Bay Honored By Transformers Inventor

MichaelBay.com reports that while in Japan for the world premiere of Transformers: Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, the director was honored with a Transformer statue for his work with the franchise. The statue was given to him by the father of the Transformers Koujin Ohno. What you see on the status is the G1 Optimus Prime from 25 years ago standing with his movie counterpart.

Viral: More Protoforms Spotted

The viral campaign continues with TheRealEffingDeal and GiantEffingRobots "reporting" more accidental spottings of Transformers in various settings around the planet. Below are the latest updates.

German Engineering - Click for a video that shows a robot running down the off ramp.
That Is Not A Gorilla - Video from Spain that shows a Transformers climbing down a tower. The real question is why was it even up there?
From Japan - This time a TF spotted hiding among some signs.
From Japan II - Same video, only with Simmons' version of events, so adds some amusement to things.
From Japan III - Leo Spitz (Ramon Rodriguez) outraged that Robo-Warrior (Simmons) would steal his exclusive Japan footage.

Five More TV Spots

MichaelBay.com has posted 7 TV Spots. Two of them have been out for a week, two more I just posted about this morning and the others are new to me anyway. Thanks to lonegamer8 for the link.

TV Spot #10 - Stomp

TV Spot #11 - Adventure Kids

TV Spot #12 - Let's Roll Kids

TV Spot #13 - Team Kids

Nest Hunting Demolisher in English Clip

Much like with the Wheelie clip, click here for the other German clip now in English with Japanese subtitles. Thanks to Scorpio and Chris for the link.

To watch the embed below, click the left blue button.

TV Spots #9 and #10

Two new TV spots premiered in the last two days, one is a 15 second spot (#10) and the other a 30 second (#9). The HD version has not officially been released so no titles. Spot #9 shows more kick-ass moments from the forest fight and has some scenes where the footage space shifted from rectangle to square (Devastator and forest fight), perhaps suggesting scenes shot on IMAX 70mm? As for #10, Tyrese finally gets a line in the commercials. Thanks to Mauricio for the links.

TV Spot #10 (click here for HD)

Wheelie Clip in English

The Wheelie clip is now in english with Japanese subtitles. I posted about it in the original German links clips post (as update 2) but finally the clip appeared on YouTube earlier today. I can't find the email from the person that gave me the heads-up but thanks.

Also keep an eye out, I am reading both in the blog comments and in various forums a new TV spot has premiered. Hopefully it will show up online soon.

It shows you several mission objectives, boss fights including Devastator, and most of the core features of the upcoming game. Transformers 2 Seoul Premiere Video, Pictures and Irritated Press (Updated)

Wednesday, the Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen press tour stopped in Seoul, South Korea to premiere the film in that country. Pictures from the event can be found here and videos below (found by TFormers).

The appearance didn't start to well according to a press report, in part because of the rain but because "Director Michael Bay and the two leads Megan Fox and Shia LaBeouf were more than two hours tardy for a special screening of “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.”" This led to a press walkout the next day when they where late again for a press conference. Thanks to Katie for the link.

Right now the cast is in Rome, Italy for that country's premiere but don't when that is event occurs. After that they will head to Spain.
